    Alternative Opportunities for Conducting Physical, Sports and Recreational Activities in the Conditions of the Covid-19 Pandemic

    The situation created as a result of the Covid-19 Pandemic has paralyzed the normal life of human society almost all over the globe. In addition to disruption of health, education, economic systems, etc., this situation has seriously damaged physical sports and recreational activities. The necessity to keep fit makes athletes to constantly try and find ways to organize training, while minimizing the risk of infection. Some of these ways are: a) medical measures or continuous testing of athletes; b) ‘team quarantine’ for the longest period of time that minimizes contact with other additional people of the club members where he/she trains; c) maximum care for maintaining the minimum allowed distance and contact between athletes. Meanwhile, outdoor recreational activities can be more easily controlled. However, these ways are not sufficient, so the consequences will be irreparable for a long time

    Relation of the Perception of Work Environment with Job Satisfaction: The Case of Teachers in High Schools in the Municipality of Prishtina

    Many researchers have put the work environment in the spotlight, anticipating that a positive environment would be valuable for enhancing employee satisfaction, which motivates them to be more efficient. The purpose of this research was to test the relationship between the perception of work environment and job satisfaction in high schools in the Municipality of Prishtina. The survey included 154 teachers in these schools. The results obtained in this study, for each dimension of the work environment, were analyzed according to the relevant theoretical framework. From the empirical results, it was found that there is a correlation between work environment and job satisfaction. These results indicate that there are positive correlations of sets of relationship dimensions, personal growth / goal orientation, and system change / maintenance with job satisfaction

    (De)legitimation of power of agency. A multimodal critical analysis of social practices during COVID-19 pandemic in Romania

    The COVID-19 pandemic has been a real challenge to national and international authorities, bringing social and ideological implications. The shift from urgency to action and an appropriate message tailoring are essential in such a sanitary crisis. This article presents a multimodal critical discourse analysis of the Facebook posts of the Romanian Ministry of Health and of the online users’ comments. The aim of the study is to examine how the Romanian authority and citizens use semiotic resources (multimodal texts) in order to give meaning and make meaning of the social practices related to the COVID 19 pandemic. The findings reveal that the Romanian authority mainly focused its messages on (de)legitimizing the actions of various abstract participants in an information campaign meant to counter fake news. The salience of behavioural processes-as instructions highlighted a reduced agency of the Ministry of Health and an increased agency for Romanian citizens. The online users employed polarization as a discursive strategy to legitimate the Romanian authority’s calls-to-action that challenge the conservative liberalism ideology of the government and to delegitimate the tardiness of these actions

    The Impact of Professional Practice Standards in t he Professional Development and Performance Assessment of School Directors

    Professional practice standards for school directors serve as a strategic tool to train and prepare school directors, and to improve the quality of education in institutions they lead. Over the last two decades, the education sector in Kosovo has been experiencing continuous changes so that a higher quality and genuine education of new generations is achieved, and having in mind that a school director is a key factor in coordinating the processes within school institutions, there are requirements for their professional development. To verify the usage and the impact of professional practice standards in professional development practice and performance assessment of school directors, a theoretical and empirical research has been carried out with primary and lower secondary school directors (N=26) and upper secondary school directors (N=11) in Prishtina and its suburb.     Nicolaus Cusanus Unbound: An Investigation into Parallels between his Liberal Philosophy and Object-Oriented Ontology

    This paper intends to reexamine the idiosyncratic thoughts of Nicholaus Cusanus (Nicholas of Cusa), a fifteenth-century German theologian-cum-philosopher who has generally been considered to be just a transitional figure to the succeeding, modern thinkers. The chief argument of this essay is that his conception of God as both immanent and transcendent has a number of interesting parallels with contemporary, de- anthropocentric philosophies, especially with Graham Harman‘s object-oriented ontology (OOO), and in fact can be regarded as a prescient harbinger to OOO in that Nicholas evidently urges one to assume a more liberal worldview while simultaneously equipping his own theory with a logic intelligible to others. In the closing section, the author of this paper poses a few proposals drawn from the investigation both to the discipline of philosophy and to the general public

    Feyerabend generally is known most for his discovery on the helpfulness of breaking rules when they become a hindrance and for the legitimacy of the counter-inductive approach as a way to make fundamental changes in science. But his view about the decontamination of old theories and the implantation of new theories‘ conception deserves equal recognition. And, of course, his alternative of open instead of closed exchange is invaluable as epistemological contribution. All this together make Feyerabend‘s viewpoint very distinct, especially to understand the need of openness as a condition to make easy the scientific development. Those three aspects constitute the originality of Feyerabend‘s contribution in the philosophy of science, which will be the focus of this paper. These novelties, as it will be argued, fill respective aspects where previously there were shortcomings, which made possible to clarify

    Employment Policies for People with Disabilities in Kosovo

    The purpose of the paper is to understand the employment policies related to people with disabilities in Kosovo. Two main methods are used in the paper, first, the method of analysing statistical and administrative data on the situation of persons with disabilities in the labour market, and analysing budget expenditures for disability schemes in Kosovo, and, second, the method of analysing institutional strategies, action plans, and primary and secondary legislation governing the employment of persons with disabilities. The main conclusions of the paper are: (i) Kosovo does not have official statistics regarding the number of persons with disabilities in general, and their situation in the labour market; (ii) expenditure from Kosovo’s budget for financing disability schemes has steadily increased in the last three years; (iii) Kosovo has prepared and adopted an advanced legal framework that promotes vocational training, vocational retraining and employment of people with disabilities; iv) Kosovo does not have a strategic document (strategy or action plan) that defines the vision and long-term goal of increasing the employment of persons with disabilities

    Teachers’ Perceptions of the Curricular Reform Implementation in Kosovo

    The perceptions that teachers create about the curricular reform act as determinants of their journey towards the application of the reforms in practice. This research explores the perceptions that teachers have about the curricular reform and its implementation in Kosovo. The research took place in three cities of Kosovo: Prishtina, Istog and Klina, with 225 teachers, where 220 were respondents of the Questionnaire, and 5 were interviewed. The research highlights that the curricular reform is overwhelming for teachers and it is more oriented towards administrative issues. The curriculum is perceived as incomprehensible, challenging and not really easy to be applied. Besides, it did not change the teaching practices, and it did not enhance the students’ learning outcomes. Peer cooperation is perceived as one of the changes that the new curriculum has brought to life, and this is an important factor that facilitates the implementation of the curriculum. On the other hand, the lack of resources and the insufficient time available for teachers are seen to be the main obstacles in implementing the curriculum

    Inclusion of Children with Emotional Disorders in Lesson Planning by Educators

    All children are entitled to equal conditions for a normal life, regardless of their health issues or disorders. Therefore, we consider that educators should give attention to children with emotional disorders while performing their lesson planning, including the organisation and implementation of activities indoors and outdoors relevant to their overall development. The treatment of children with emotional disorders is an important process and currently their situation is not satisfactory; therefore, educators should work harder to improve their conditions, getting to know more about the sensitive situation of these children. The study highlights the work performed by educators in preschool institutions in cooperation with parents to offer a better development for children with emotional disorders in all the areas. The research is based on the data collected in preschool institutions in Prishtina through questionnaires with educators and parents of children with emotional disorders and with no disorder, and interviews conducted with the directors of preschool institutions.
