Disaster awareness among grade 6 students in IGACOS: a comparative research study
This study aims to determine the Disaster Awareness among Grade 6 students in IGACOS. This study utilized the comparative research design to investigate and compare the disaster awareness level of grade 6 students from different schools. Sixty students in Peñaplata Central Elementary School SPED Center and 60 students in Kaputian Central Elementary School were chosen as samples in this study since they represented diverse demographics and geographical locations within the study area, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of disaster awareness across different settings. Mean and T-test were used to analyze the results of this study. It was revealed that students scored an average of 3.66, which is described as "Sometimes" aware of disaster preparedness behaviors. Results also showed that despite a minor difference in their overall disaster awareness scores, PCES attained a higher mean compared to KCED. This findings underscores the nuanced variation in disaster awareness within school populations, highlighting the need for tailored educational interventions to address specific gaps in preparedness knowledge and perceptions. By pinpointing the most effective strategies, researchers can guide the development of future programs that empower students with the knowledge and confidence to navigate disasters effectively. Researchers emphasize the importance of tailored educational strategies to address specific gaps in disaster preparedness knowledge and perceptions among student
An evaluation on social, environmental and economic factors in the sustainable development goals
In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Bachelor of Science in Tourism ManagementThis study investigates the level of sustainable development goals (SDGs) in Davao City across social, environmental, and economic dimensions, employing a descriptive-correlational research design. Stratified random sampling was utilized to ensure representativeness. Data were gathered through an adapted questionnaire with a 5-point Likert scale. Descriptive statistics and inferential analysis were
employed to analyze the data. The findings reveal a high level of commitment to social, environmental, and economic sustainability in Davao City. Notably, fair laws and justice, reduction of deforestation and land damage, and sustainable transportation received the highest weighted mean scores in the social,
environmental, and economic aspects, respectively. Analysis of demographic variables indicates that civil status and education level significantly influence perceptions of social and environmental SDGs. However, no significant differences were found based on age and gender. In contrast, no demographic variable
significantly influenced perceptions of economic SDGs. Furthermore, significant positive relationships between social and environmental factors where demonstrated, highlighting the interconnectedness of these dimensions. The study recommends targeted interventions to address challenges faced by vulnerable groups and foster community engagement in environmental conservation efforts. Additionally, promoting inclusive economic growth and entrepreneurship opportunities is crucial for advancing economic sustainability. In conclusion, this study provides insights into the status of SDGs in Davao City and underscores the importance of considering demographic factors in sustainability initiatives. The findings can inform policymakers and stakeholders in designing effective strategies to promote sustainable development and address the diverse needs of the population
Evaluating the academic performances of students in Licup Elementary school: the role of the school-based feeding program
This study aims to evaluate the academic performances of the students and the role of the school-based feeding program among the students at Licup Elementary School. This is a quantitative study that utilized descriptive-comparative. In gathering the data, the researchers employed total population sampling. The researchers collected the data from fifty-two students in grade one to six. The essential data were gathered using the DepED Order No.37 s form. 2014 and the grades of students before and after SBFP. Mean and Paired T-test were utilized as the study' statistical tool to analyze if the means of two independent groups were significantly different from each other. Results revealed that the general weighted average of the students increased statistically significantly after conducting a school-based feeding program. It indicates tat SBFP is an effective strategy to motivate pupils to attend school when institutions meet their needs. However, the study also revealed that some students' academic achievements were identical before and after SBFP. Hence, providing more opportunities and programs to enhance academic performances and fulfill academic achievements is recommended. This helps students have interactive learning that fosters cognitive ability

Natural honey as cryoprotectant on spermatozoa quality of boar semen
In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Bachelor of Science in Biology - EcologyNatural honey has been used as cryoprotectant prior to cryopreservation of spermatozoa quality of boar semen. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of inclusion level of natural honey supplemented in commercial boar semen VIM® extender on fresh boar semen liquid preservation quality at 20oC up to 3-days interval. Semen samples from 2-yr-old Largewhite boar were collected using bare-hand technique. Collected samples were freshly evaluated physically and microscopically before being divided and diluted with commercial boar semen extenders as control and three different concentrations of natural honey extenders (0.5%NH, 1.0%NH, 2.0%NH, respectively). Samples were prepared by volume per volume (v/v) of natural
honey, respectively. The processed semen was then stored at 20oC for 3 h before assessment of quality. Semen samples from each treatment were then assessed for sperm progressive motility, sperm viability and sperm morphology through microscopic observation and eosin-nigrosin staining procedure. The study revealed that addition of 0.5%NH in commercial extenders across 3-days intervals were significantly higher (p0.05) affected by sperm abnormalities which maintain the sperm morphology. Our findings showed higher concentrations of honey were not suitable and showed significantly poor semen quality following cryopreservation. This demonstrated that, when held at 20°C, sperm diluted in 0.5%NH were the optimal concentration for preservation of boar liquid semen before freezing
FABRICATION OF ODOUR MINIMIZER FOR WATERWAYS THROUGH FABRIC FILTRATION USING SPENT COFFEE GROUNDS
Undergraduate thesesThis study seeks to investigate the environmental impact linked to the considerable
amount of spent coffee grounds (SCG) produced in the coffee trade, focusing on SCG's
effectiveness in mitigating untreated water odors—the natural elements in coffee grounds,
especially essential oils, exhibit odor-absorbing solid properties. The study highlights the
importance of efficient particle separation, emphasizing the critical role of filter fabrics,
both woven and non-woven. The primary objective is to design an odor-filtering device
integrating SCG and fabric filtration, providing a sustainable solution for reducing
unpleasant smells in untreated water from the creek. The increase in wastewater pollution
due to industrialization and population growth highlights the need for efficient odor control.
SCG, with its ability to adsorb and absorb odors, offers a promising result. The study is
significant for providing environmental solutions and optimizing SCG's potential through
a comprehensive methodology involving diverse materials. Early results suggest that SCG
effectively decreases color and odor intensity in treated water obtained from the creek.
Additional research, including a paired t-test analysis, seeks to assess the recommended
odor-filtering device's effectiveness thoroughly.
Keywords: Spent Coffee Grounds, Fabric Filtration, Odour-Filtering System, and Hazen
Unit.

The study aimed to evaluate disaster preparedness, knowledge, and adaptation among intermediate students at Camudmud Elementary School. Using a quantitative descriptive cross-sectional method, data from seventy students in Grade 4 to 6 were analyzed by age, grade level, and gender. Mean, t-test, and ANOVA were used for analysis. Results revealed that there is no significant difference in disaster preparedness between male and female students and still no significant difference between students aged nine to ten and those aged eleven to thirteen. Additionally, no significant difference was found in students' disaster preparedness when analyzed by grade level. Based on the findings, the level of disaster preparedness of students in Camudmud Elementary School generally exhibit a high level of disaster preparedness as evidenced by their confidence in school preparedness, and willingness to engage in discussions about disaster with various groups. Overall results emphasize how crucial it is to have inclusive, effective, and context-sensitive disaster risk reduction (DRR) programs included in school curricula. It is advisable to maintain and reinforce existing initiatives aimed at disaster preparedness, including sharing knowledge, learning from experts, and instilling confidence in school preparedness measures
