Upcycling of distillery waste of fermented molasses into a microfertilizer
In Partial Fulfilment of the Requirements for the Degree of Bachelor of Science in Chemical EngineeringAbstract Ethanol distillation generates large amounts of undesired wastewater called Distillery Spent Wash. To eliminate undesirable wastewater, it undergoes various procedures such as the stabilization treatment, micro fertilizer synthesis, and drying process to produce quality plant nutrition products. Micro fertilizers with and without ammonia with a particle size ranging from 1– 2.6 μm and a central diameter range to 1–1.753 μm are the product's results. The FTIR analysis of micro fertilizers with ammonia and without ammonia includes valence oscillations of the O-H and C-H bond with a hydroxyl (OH) group. Carbon atom (C), C=C, or oxygen C-O atoms. EDX analysis of micro fertilizer with ammonia comprised of N, O, Al, Si, K, and Ca micronutrient elements. In contrast, the sample of micro fertilizer without ammonia contained micronutrient elements of O, Mg, Al, Si, Mo, K, and Ca. Both fertilizers were applied to various plants (bok choy and radish). As a result, bok choy plants' height had an average value of 10.53 inches ± 3.044 in the 6% concentration, which has the presence of ammonia and has average leaf length and width of 5.533 inches ± 0.513 and 5.8 inches ± 0.2. Perceived risks in mobile banking in Davao City : a clients' perspective

Major in Financial ManagementThis study explored and determine the level of client’s perception on mobile banking prospects and problems in Davao City. The researchers employed a descriptive survey method and a survey questionnaire was used as the data collection instrument. The instrument used in the study was validated by the members of the panel. Mean and Kruskal-Wallis were used to analyze the data. The respondents of this study were 200 randomly selected clients who use mobile banking applications in Davao City. Results revealed that in terms of the demographic profile of the respondents, majority are between young generation of mobile banking users, mostly female, single, and majority are undergraduates. Moreover, with regards to the level of client’s perception on mobile banking prospects and problems, overall, respondents rated as Agree that prospects and problems of mobile banking are frequently manifested, with rated as the highest the indicator is security, followed by indicators: convenience, and scalability and reliability. Furthermore, in terms of significant difference in level of client’s perception on mobile banking prospects and problems when analyzed by demographic profile, no manifestation of differences across all profiles such as age, gender, civil status, and educational attainment
Effectiveness of kapok fiber (ceiba pentandra) as partial replacement of aggregates in the design mix of concrete roof tiles
In Partial Fulfillmentof the Requirements for the Degree Bachelor of Science in Civil EngineeringConcrete roof tile is an excellent roofing material due to its toughness and durability. However, due to its weight being heavy and lack of thermal efficiency, its usage has been limited. It prompted an inquiry into the impact of incorporating kapok fiber in the design mix of concrete roof tile in the present study. Concrete roof tiles containing 1-3% percent kapok fiber were tested for their bulk density, water absorption, water permeability, transverse breaking strength, and thermal conductivity properties. Based on the results,
adding kapok fiber significantly reduces the bulk density and the heat that can penetrate through the tiles and improves its water permeability property. Even if it increases the water absorption and decreases the transverse breaking strength of the tiles, the majority of the test results meet the specifications outlined in the standard. The tests revealed that incorporating kapok fiber in the concrete roof tile design mix is advantageous, and the
optimum replacement of sand with kapok fiber is 2%
Error analysis of academic essays of senior high school students
Grammatical errors are committed by the students in their composition of writing
due to a lack of knowledge of conventions in the English language, which
hampered their competence. This study sought to analyze errors in academic
essays committed by Senior High School students of the University of Mindanao.
The study utilized Corder’s Theory on Error Analysis to examine 100 academic
essays of Senior High School students. The results revealed that under five
categories of errors, Mechanics (46.98%) has the most problematic errors
committed by the students with 514 error counts, preceded by Omission (20.84%)
with 228 error counts. This is followed by Addition (17.37%) with 190 error counts,
Substitution (13.99%) with 153 error counts, and Permutation (0.82%) with nine
error counts, the least problematic category. The results further revealed that the
SHS students are experiencing difficulties in applying grammatical and writing
rules in their academic writing, such as appropriate usage of prepositions,
omission of morphemes, proper structure of sentences, and substituting elements
of sentences, causing them complexity in reading. The study implied that the
concept of the English language must be taught by the teachers directly to the
students with feedback because their mother tongue hampered their acquisition of
L2. This study can contribute to the teachers supplementing students'
competence in writing by conducting interventions in the school.

In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Bachelor of Science in Civil EngineeringFlooding has been a national concern in the Philippines, with high chances to occur during typhoons and may happen in the future due to rapid urban development. Flood risk reduction strategies can be enhanced by a diversion channel, increasing the waterway's capacity, or a closed diversion canal. The assessment of Maa Creek along Purok Kapundok: the basis for diversion or design improvement is a critical study that assesses the current state of the creek and the measures that can be taken to mitigate or reduce the flood discharge, even so, improve the functionality of the vicinity. The study gathered essential data, including the creek's geometry and dimensions, water flow data, and more. Following, HEC-RAS is utilized to simulate and compare the existing channel and the proposed diversion channel. The results of HEC-RAS steady flow modeling found that a diversion shortcut will further increase the water flow, thus, reducing the water elevation. Also, incorporating culverts in the diversion will add to the area's functionality. Simulating the flow that is critical for the creek, gathered hydrological data from the year 2018 is used for the unsteady flow. Here, it is found that water surface elevation reaches up to 3.12 meters high. In addition, results from sediment analysis of the proposed diversion show that invert siltation will increase by 0.95 meters in 1 year. In conclusion, a diversion shortcut with culverts reduces water surface elevation because of improved water discharge. Nevertheless, the design capacity is enough, and the future capacity may be reduced due to the siltation. It is essential to conduct regular monitoring and assessment of sediment build-up to sustain the correct water depth and prevent flooding
Photovoice analysis on environmental issues through the lens of BSED English students
This study aimed to examine the Photovoice Analysis on Environmental Issues through the Lens of BSED English Students at UM Panabo College. The categorical variables of this study are: perceptions of English major students to Environmental Issues; Coping Mechanisms of Students regarding Environmental Issues; and Insights/Reflection can be generated from the findings. The researcher conducted an interview at UM Panabo College students. There were ten (10) informants: three (3) students from first year; three (3) students from the second year and four (4) students from the third year from BSED English, respectively. Researcher made a consent letter to the offices of the school to conduct the interview. The researcher used a research questionnaire; the respondents/informants answered it in sentence through their respective emails. Moreover, the researcher-made use of a transcript to analyze the data. The findings show that environmental problems are caused by people; environmental problems affect the lives of people; Humans are agent of change and must protect the environment. Educate oneself and others (Environmental education is more than environmental information), understanding environmental issues and making lifestyle changes that contribute to environmental conservation to cope the current challenges mother earth is facing. Planting trees helps produce microclimates that act as buffer to the “extreme heat” due to global warming. practice the concept of 3R’s (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) are the best way to make a positive impact on our environment and join the advocacy to volunteer to share your voice to spread awareness by promoting a safer and cleaner environment
Electronic word-of-mouth and social influence as predictors of consumer behavior among food services
In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Master in Business AdministrationIncludes bibliographical referencesThe study aimed to determine the domains of electronic word-of-mouth and social influence that significantly predicts or influence the consumer behavior among the food services costumers in the Municipality of Kapalong. The respondents of the study were 384 selected food services costumers in Kapalong, Davao del Norte. The researcher used a quantitative non-experimental utilizing correlational technique in research and utilized the modified and adapted research questionnaires as instrument. The statistical tools used in this research include mean, Pearson-r, standard deviation and regression analysis. Results revealed that the level of the electronic word-of-mouth of the respondents is high, the level of social influence is high, while the level of the consumer behavior indicates a high level. Furthermore, this study found out that there is a significant relationship beeen the electronic word-of-mouth and consumer behavior. Also, a significant relationship between the social influence and consumer behavior was determined. Likewise, sender’s expertise, eWOM quantity and eWOM quality domains significantly influence consumer behavior. Moreover, in social Influence domains, the role in society, family, and reference group influence consumer behavior. Analysis of chemical and shrinkage limit for the effect of glycerol in concrete
In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Bachelor of Science in Civil EngineeringConcrete shrinkage is a significant problem within the construction sector. This study aims to investigate the impact of Glycerol on chemical shrinkage and shrinkage limits using a nominal mix design. Concrete mix design is determined with a nominal mix ratio of 1:2:4, a 0.45 w/c ratio, and increasing amounts of Glycerol. Seven concrete mix designs are tested for workability and consistency using slump tests (ASTM C143). Based on the slump test results, only five concrete mix designs can proceed with the chemical shrinkage test and shrinkage limit test. Data collection for the chemical shrinkage test was done using the volumetric and density methods by ASTM C1608 with 60 samples. Lower-valued concrete mix designs containing 3.1% and 6.2% glycerol will be used for shrinkage limit testing by ASTM D4943. In this test, nine samples are provided, and the concrete mix design with the highest value, which contains 6.2% glycerol, prevails. Finally, a series of three experiments show that the more glycerin added to the concrete mix design, the less chemical shrinkage occurs, and the shrinkage limit increases when compared to the concrete mix design that does not contain Glycerol
Foam concrete with pulverized cow bone as partial replacement of cement utilizing demolished concrete as aggregate
In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Bachelor of Science in Civil EngineeringThis research discusses the use of cow bone powder as a partial replacement for cement in manufacturing foamed concrete. Cow bone powder is a waste product with a high calcium content that may be used as a partial substitute for cement. Cow Bone powder is replaced in cement at 18%, 20%, and 25%. The study aims to test the physical and mechanical properties of the cow bone powder and demolished concrete mixture compared to conventional foam concrete in terms of compressive strength, air voids, and fire resistance test. Comparing foam concrete with cow bone to ordinary foam concrete, the compressive strength of the foam rose by 18% and 20%. However, foam concrete’s compressive strength dropped to 25% cow bone. The results show that cow bone powder significantly affects the foam concrete’s compressive strength. The study is limited to concrete walls, but it can serve as a reference for future researchers interested in developing durable concrete materials
