    Credit risk management practices and profitability among selected lending institutions in Panabo City

    This study aimed to determine the significant relationship between credit risk management practices and profitability among selected lending institutions in Panabo City. This study is based on an adapted and modified questionnaire from George (2015), and Nzitunga (2019). The random sampling technique approach was utilized to collect the data from 55 respondents varied from the managers, credit officers, and loan officers from selected lending institutions in Panabo City. The study employed a quantitative non-experimental and correlational method. Mean and Pearson-r were used to analyzed the credit risk management practices and profitability among selected lending institutions in Panabo City. The study revealed that the selected lending institutions in Panabo City in terms of credit risk management practices has a very high result and yield an overall mean of 4.69. In terms of the level of the profitability of selected lending institutions in Panabo City, it garnered also a very high result with 4.73 overall mean. Furthermore, the study revealed that there is a significant relationship between credit risk management practices and profitability. The results showed a computed r-value of 0.872 associated with the p-value of 0.000, which is less than the 0.05 level of significance, indicating that the null hypothesis (ho) is rejected

    Effects of kapok fiber and bamboo leaves ash as soil stabilizer for expansive soil in road application

    In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Bachelor of Science in Civil EngineeringClayey soils pose a risk and damage to life and property and are unsuitable for direct engineering application due to their shrink-swell behavior. Pavement cracks and swells are some effects due to soil excessive distress under volumetric changes of its underlying soil. With this, researchers explore different methods to stabilize expansive soils using fibers and cementitious materials. This paper used Kapok Fiber (KF) and Bamboo Leaves Ash (BLA) as soil stabilizers. It seeks to determine the soil classification, test its effects on compaction, investigate the swelling of the soil and change of consistency. Varying concentrations are 0.5% KF and 6%BLA, 0.8% KF and 6%BLA, and 1% KF and 6%BLA by weight of the soil. Test samples undergo sieve analysis, Atterberg limit, compaction, and swell index test. Results revealed that adding fibers to the soil matrix increases maximum dry density (MDD) while optimum moisture content (OMC) varies indirectly. In addition, soil swelling decreases after adding KF and BLA with an optimum design mix of 0.5% KF and 6%BLA. T-test showed that swell index under 10, 30, and 65 blows significantly differ between the control and the optimum ratio. Furthermore, the consistency of the soil changes from highly plastic to low plasticity. Therefore, KF and BLA are good sources of soil stabilizers for pavement subgrade purposes

    Managers leadership style and satisfaction

    The study aims to determine the relationship between managers leadership style and satisfaction in Marsman Drysdale Panabo Agri-Ventures Incorporated. The independent variable is managers leadership style with the indicators transformational and transactional leadership. On the other hand, the dependent variable of this is satisfaction. The researchers used the descriptive correlation method to describe the level of the two variables and the statistical tools used are Mean and Pearson-r. The result of the computation using the r value is 0.550 which is associated with a p-value of 0.000 which is less than 0.05. Thus, there is a significant relationship between managers leadership style and satisfaction in Marsman Drysdale Panabo Agri-Ventures Incorporated. The result of the study shows that managers leadership style in Marsman Drysdale Panabo has significant relationship with satisfaction

    Agro-based sectors are crucial to the macroeconomic development of a country like the Philippines, where most of the population relies on agriculture. It is also essential for the rapid and autonomous growth of the economy. This study contends that agriculture and architecture must work together to achieve better results and sustain growing consumers. It requires careful consideration of the PCC's spatial performance and productivity. However, to effectively measure the users' productivity, looking at the spatial performance through the workspace's environmental aspect is vital. The researcher used a qualitative and quantitative approach to evaluate the productivity and spatial performance of the PCC to comprehend the whole range of factors that contribute to spatial performance in a workspace. This study inquired how it affects physical characteristics and simplifies the process of communicating with and coordinating all of the facilities of the Philippine Carabao Center in Bukidnon to elucidate the importance of spatial performance in raising users' productivity. The findings demonstrate that the space can assist users with tasks and the organization's communication process. Additionally, a high-performing workspace will improve individuals' productivity, performance, and general well-being. Workplaces that function poorly negatively affect workers, employees, the organization, and the dairy sector. An environment that is comfortable and encourages performance at work naturally boosts productivity. Consequently, it shows that spatial performance promotes employee collaboration, stimulates coordination through communication, creates movement or flexibility, values individual preferences, and ardently supports organizational productivity. The statistical tool used for the data treatment was Mean, Pearson (r), and Linear Regression Analysis. The researchers utilized an adapted-modified survey questionnaire for data gathering. The results showed that the level of Money Attitude among credit card users in Tagum City is high. Likewise, the level of Compulsive Buying Behavior among Credit Card users in Tagum City is high. There is a significant relationship between Money Attitude and Compulsive Buying Behavior among Credit Card users in Tagum City, revealing that obsessive behavior could result in financial and social problems; educating people about payment card usage and its risks is critical.332.024viii, 25 page

    For most people, growing up in a family with a comfortable home is a privilege. For orphans and neglected children, this is something that they long to experience. Despite the high prevalence of orphans and the importance of their welfare, there is an evident gap in the literature about users' perceptions and experiences regarding the built environment quality of the orphanage facilities. Thus, it is essential to shedding light on the children's welfare and the environment they grow up in. This study aimed to determine the quality level of the built environment in the selected orphanages in Tugbok, Davao City. The researcher used mixed quantitative and qualitative methods to conduct a survey, interview, and ocular inspection. There were approximately eighty-eight (88) respondents, including the orphans (ages ten years old and above) and caretakers in the study. The researcher used a purposive sampling technique that studies a specific group in selected orphanages. Furthermore, the statistical tools used to interpret and analyze the data were descriptive analysis-mean, standard deviation, and thematic analysis. The study used a concurrent triangulation design to analyze the quantitative and qualitative data. The result showed that the quality level of the built environment in the selected orphanages was good; however, some indoor and outdoor spaces need improvement, especially in Indoor Environment Quality.     Effect of taro roots starch as bio-admixture of the concrete

    In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Bachelor of Science in Civil EngineeringAdmixture is an additive to enhance the properties of the concrete such as durability, workability, and shrinkage, and to delay or rush the setting of the concrete. Admixture can be natural or chemical during concrete mixing. Chemical admixture can be very effective concrete, but too much exposure to chemicals can be dangerous to humans and the environment. On the other hand, the bio-based admixture is safe and the effect of the properties of the concrete is similar to the chemical admixture. The objective of this study is to determine the physical and mechanical properties of the concrete by adding taro roots starch to the concrete such as workability, durability, compressive strength, and setting time. The taro roots starch is obtained by manually grinding the taro root and drying its starch at 105°C until its fully dry, the starch is added to the concrete through the designated percentage and test the properties of the concrete are through the standard testing of ASTM and AASTHO. The samples with taro roots starch have less water absorption, which indicates that it has higher durability, the fresh concrete with taro roots starch delays the hydration process and hardening which is good when traveling afar from the batching plant, and the existence of taro roots starch in the fresh concrete improves the workability and enhance the compressive strength of fully hardened concrete. This study discovers that the taro roots improve workability and setting time while compressive strength and durability increase slightly. Through the viscosity effect of taro root starch, the workability improves significantly

    Utilization of soursop (annona muricata) for biosand water filtration

    In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Bachelor of Science in Chemical EngineeringRiver water contamination jeopardizes human health and natural resources and is more prevalent in dense areas. A biosand filter (BSF) is an affordable, accepted, and sustainable water treatment technology that makes a difference in water quality. Being a locally available plant species, soursop (Annona muricata) biomass was used in three systems (BSF 2, BSF 3, and BSF 4) to test its efficiency for pathogen removal. Highly river water was passed through a control sand filter (SF) and BSFs containing different depth media (5 cm to 7 cm) of soursop in two setting conditions. The results showed that all three BSF (having plant biomass) had a high percentage of microbial removal. The Escherichia coli and coliform removal for filters with soursop reached between 82.61~98.15% and 82.61~90%, respectively, and achieved almost 100 percent on the last day mark. BSFs also observed significant turbidity removal on all days, with results above 90% on BSF 2 and BSF 4 and almost 80% on BSF 3. Based on the results, it can be concluded that Soursop biomass is a valuable bioresource that can ameliorate water quality

    Application of nonwoven polypropylene surgical mask as a composition of hybrid geotextile

    In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Bachelor of Science in Civil EngineeringThe increased waste of surgical masks significantly impacts the environment, especially with the surging cases of COVID-19. This paper utilized the nonwoven polypropylene strips in a surgical mask to modify banana fibers as a hybrid composite geotextile. Comparative performance was examined to assess the physical, mechanical, and hydraulic properties for the application of separation of subgrade and subbase layers. Hybrid geotextile was compared to mask geotextile, banana geotextile, and commercially made geotextile. The hybrid geotextile having the highest average mass per unit area of 1840 g/m2, results in higher tensile strength for both machine direction (82 kN/m2) and cross- machine direction (79 kN/m2), which was proven to produce better performance. Also, the hybrid geotextile consistently demonstrated the highest tensile strengths between groups, having values of 73 kN/m2, 69 kN/m2, and 63 kN/m2 for 6, 12, and 18 days, respectively, after being immersed in soil. Among the groups of geotextiles, hybrid material (10.54%, 16.47%, and 23.79%) has the least percentage of tensile strength loss after exposure. It was expected since the polypropylene strips reinforced the decomposition progress of banana fiber. Moreover, its 0.55 mm pore opening size shows promising results since the blending twist of banana and Polypropylene as warp and weft threads resulted in alternate arrangements producing a good amount of cover. The trade-off analysis also proved that given the parameters, hybrid geotextile ranked as the lowest, scoring 1.6, which implied efficiency as a separator between subgrade and subbase layers. Thus, the hybrid geotextile could best withstand the expansion force by laboratory testing even after weather and field exposure

    Eatery's financial survival strategies during phased reopening of pandemic : a case of Barangay Cabantian, Davao City

    In Fulfillment for the Requirement of the Degree of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Financial ManagementCOVID-19 is a formidable experience for most people, including eatery owners in Barangay Cabantian, Davao City. This research utilized a purposive sampling method to determine the obstacles encountered by eatery owners amid the coronavirus-19 pandemic. It also seeks to ascertain the financial strategies employed by eatery owners to keep the business going. The researcher used a semi-structured questionnaire to gather information from 9 restaurant owners specifically chosen to provide data. The obtained data revealed that sales inadequacy, income insufficiency, lack of budget, and scarcity of customers affected their operations. As a result of this scenario, eatery owners took action, including implementing a sustainable mechanism and engaging in formal and informal credits. It comprised strategies including reducing costs, diversifying through delivery and takeout options, and obtaining funding through both formal and informal methods. As a means of support, informal funding was typically utilized. Finally, they stated that the strategies employed were beneficial to their entire business operations and improved the well-being of eatery owners. This study sheds insight into the techniques used by eatery owners and shows the way for further research. This paper achieved the primary purpose of studying the financial strategies used by eatery owners to survive throughout the phased reopening of the pandemic
