    Financial Literacy and savings behavior of working college students in Island Garden City of Samal

    This study examined the relationship between financial literacy and saving behavior among working college students in the Island Garden City of Samal. A survey was conducted with 109 respondents using a descriptive-correlational approach. The findings indicated that working college students generally possess good financial literacy, including an understanding of budgeting, spending, and financial knowledge. The study found a strong positive correlation between financial literacy and saving behavior, suggesting that students with higher financial literacy tend to engage in better-saving practices. The results emphasizes the need to enhance financial literacy among working college students to improve their saving behavior. factors such as saving attitude and motivation were also identified as influential in students' financial behavior, and the financial knowledge of financial literacy has the most impact on savings behavior, but the attitude towards stocks has no significant correlation with overall financial literacy. The study recommends further research to explore the relationship of financial literacy on students' saving behavior in more depth, particularly in areas such as investment knowledge and debt management. Promoting financial literacy and addressing attitudes toward saving can empower students to make informed financial decisions and develop effective saving habits

    This study aims to determine the Prevalence of solid waste management violations and penalties in Davao City: A basic intervention program. Four hundred residents in Davao participated in the study. This study employed quantitative nonexperimental research using the descriptive correlation technique. A questionnaire of close-ended questions was utilized in the study for data collection. Each inquiry allows respondents to select an answer from a list corresponding to their view. The study used Mean and Pearson Correlation. Mean was utilized to measure the Prevalence of solid waste management violation and Penalty in Davao City: A basic intervention program. On the other hand, the Pearson Correlation was also used to determine the significant relationship between Violation and Penalty of solid waste management. The result showed that the Residents are violated of the Solid waste with a general mean of 3.70, which is interpreted as high. Meanwhile, the Penalty for solid waste management with a known standard of 3.00 is interpreted as high. Moreover, the degree of the relationship between the two variables is correlational significant. This implies that Penalty is a factor that can affect the Violation of Solid Waste Management

    Mangima stone as a component in pervious concrete design

    In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Bachelor of Science in Civil EngineeringThe Philippines is an archipelago surrounded by oceans and seas, which can significantly influence the weather and develop typhoons. The surface water exceeds floods and increased runoff. Thus, by using pervious concrete on pavements, floods can be minimized because of the permeability of the surface. This study specifically seeks to determine the ideal composition of the design mix by evaluating the results of various tests. Also, to correctly characterize inputs for the pervious concrete design method, compressive strength, flexural strength, porosity, and infiltration, are tested using three mix designs. Researchers have found that the Mangima stone mixture of 5:1 ratio that has undergone 28 days of curing achieved the highest compressive and flexural strength compared to other design mix proportions. Mangima stone pervious mixture, compared with ordinary pervious concrete mixtures, the lower porosity and infiltration rate are observed. Based on the study's findings, pervious concrete with a 7:1 ratio of Mangima stone exhibits the maximum porosity and infiltration. These findings support the notion that utilizing Mangima stones as aggregates can enhance strength and achieve adequate infiltration rates

    In Partial Fulfilment of the Requirements for the Degree of Bachelor of Science in Chemical EngineeringThis study aims to investigate the efficacy of biomass briquettes made by combining pig manure and water hyacinth into four mixtures. The ratio of each mixture (pig manure: water hyacinth: and starch) are 50:25:25, 25:50:25,31.25:37.5:25, and 37.5:31.25:25. The mixtures were compressed into a molder and dried. Samples of these mixtures were tested to determine the proximate analysis and calorific value. The moisture content of the biomass briquettes ranges from 6.23%-12.34%; increasing the amount of pig manure in the briquettes gives a higher GCV (Gross Calorific Value). The ratio with 50% pig manure, 25% water hyacinth, and 25% starch has the highest GCV of 15.15 MJ/kg; however, since it also has the highest percentage of moisture content, the net calorific value is lower than the other ratio.     In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Bachelor of Science in Civil EngineeringClayey soils pose a risk and damage to life and property and are unsuitable for direct engineering application due to their shrink-swell behavior. Pavement cracks and swells are some effects due to soil excessive distress under volumetric changes of its underlying soil. With this, researchers explore different methods to stabilize expansive soils using fibers and cementitious materials. This paper used Kapok Fiber (KF) and Bamboo Leaves Ash (BLA) as soil stabilizers. It seeks to determine the soil classification, test its effects on compaction, investigate the swelling of the soil and change of consistency. Varying concentrations are 0.5% KF and 6%BLA, 0.8% KF and 6%BLA, and 1% KF and 6%BLA by weight of the soil. Test samples undergo sieve analysis, Atterberg limit, compaction, and swell index test. Results revealed that adding fibers to the soil matrix increases maximum dry density (MDD) while optimum moisture content (OMC) varies indirectly. In addition, soil swelling decreases after adding KF and BLA with an optimum design mix of 0.5% KF and 6%BLA. T-test showed that swell index under 10, 30, and 65 blows significantly differ between the control and the optimum ratio. Furthermore, the consistency of the soil changes from highly plastic to low plasticity. Therefore, KF and BLA are good sources of soil stabilizers for pavement subgrade purposes

    This study aimed to determine the significant relationship between financial literacy and financial satisfaction among DBAE students in UM Panabo College. The respondents of this research were 215 students. The researchers used random sampling technique to gathered the data. The study employed a quantitative non-experimental and correlational method. Mean and Pearson-r were used to analyzed the effectiveness of financial literacy and financial satisfaction among DBAE students in UM Panabo College. The study revealed that the students in terms of financial literacy showed high result and yielded an overall mean of 3.94. For the level of financial satisfaction among students, it garnered with an overall mean of 4.06 which is high. Furthermore, the computed r-value between financial literacy and financial satisfaction is 0.550 with the p-value of 0.000, which less than 0.05 level of significance. Thus, the null hypothesis is rejected

    Food safety and cutomer satisfaction on the Peñaplata central warehouse club food stall

    When service providers in the market achieve high levels of client satisfaction, they may establish and retain a significant competitive advantage. High profitability and growth can follow straight from this competitive advantage. As a result, this study assessed food safety and customer satisfaction. Two hundred customers were surveyed at the Central Warehouse Club branch in Peñaplata to find the criteria that best reflect consumer satisfaction in food safety. The researchers chose the respondents for this study by simple random sampling. A questionnaire was utilized to evaluate the food's safety. It was done using a descriptive-correlational design. The data were analyzed using the weighted average mean and Pearson-r. The study revealed that food quality and customer satisfaction had an overall mean score of high, showing that food quality is substantially proficiently manifested. Moreover, the result shows that food safety and customer satisfaction have an R-value of 0.521 and a p-value of less than 0.05, showing a significant relationship between the two variables, which rejected the hypothesis

    A study of pulverized chicken bone mixed with cement as floor tiles

    In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Bachelor of Science in Civil EngineeringEvery year, meat products are the most consumed, resulting in a large amount of residue. The total chicken population in the Philippines in the second quarter of 2021 was 190.74 metric tons, more than 2.4 percent from the previous year (2020), with the most significant production in Central Luzon and Northern Mindanao. The paper aims to determine the bulk density, water absorption, impact resistance, compressive strength, modulus of rupture of chicken bone powder (CBP) combined with cement at various percent doses, and compare it to the control sample and determine the optimal amount of CBP as a partial substitute for cement in floor tiles. Five dosage increments of bone powder have been created to start at 0% (as the control group), 15%, 20%, 30%, and 40%. The first experiment has carried out to evaluate the chemical composition of CBP by Scanning Electron Microscopy - EDX analysis (SEM-EDX Analysis). The optimal ratio among multiple properties, including bulk density (20% CBP), water absorption (20% CBP), impact resistance (15%), compressive strength (15%), and rupture modulus (15%), were obtained for this purpose. Therefore, the optimum dosage of the chicken bone powder indicated 15% by weight, and adding % by weight of silica fume could also partially help to replace cement content

    Thermal insulating material for ceiling based on the synergy of natural corn husks and sap-containing absorbent pad fibers

    In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Bachelor of Science in Civil EngineeringInsulating materials or insulators are materials that lessen or stop the flow of heat through them. Corn husks (CH) were recognized as suitable thermal insulators because they showed outstanding potential for thermal characteristics. Absorbent pads contain superabsorbent polymers (SAPs) called Sodium Polyacrylate that can store 600 times their weight in water and, merged with various porous fibers, may have a synergistic effect on improved thermal resistance. This study aims for the corn husk mixed with an absorbent pad, which may be utilized as a thermal insulation medium. The ratios between absorbent pads and corn husk are 30g AP: 30g CH for 1:1, 20g AP: 40g CH for 1:2, and 40g AP: 20g for 2:1. Procedure of thermal conductivity and resistance, burning rate, and tensile strength are based on the Thermal Testing of Building Insulation Materials by Frawley and Kennedy, ASTM-D1929, and ASTM-D3039, respectively. Results from the study show that the 1:2 ratio has the lowest thermal conductivity (0.533 W/mK), highest thermal resistance (0.465 K/W), and lowest burning rate (1.26 in/min) among the three specimens. In contrast, the 1:1 ratio shows the highest tensile strength. The study's findings show that among the three different specimen ratios, the thermal insulating material composed of 20g of the absorbent pad and 40g of corn husk offers the best thermal properties compared to others

    Fire-resistant coating for wood construction materials using ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether epoxy resin cured with cashew nutshell liquid

    In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Bachelor of Science in Civil EngineeringMotivated to improve the fire-resistance capacity of wood construction materials using sustainable materials, fire-resistant coating based on the formulation of ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether (EGDE) and cashew nutshell liquid (CNSL) as a curing agent was implemented without thermal resistance additives. The coating formulations were first characterized for their chemical structure via Fourier-transformed infrared (FTIR) and their thermal properties by thermogravimetric analyses (TGA). A 2.83 difference at 800 ̊C was observed from the wt% residue of the coated and uncoated wood. The fireproofing performance of the coating was assessed over four types of wood species (gmelina,mahogany, moss, and pine) by UL94 vertical burning test and ASTM E119 furnace test. It was found that applying the coatings has significantly improved wood protection against fire. Besides, the coating performed better on gmelina wood than mahogany, moss, and pine wood
