Mathematics Grade as Correlate to Performance in the National Achievement Test
Get PDFTests in schools can be informative. However, the Department of Education administered a set of examinations like the National Achievement Test which is designed to determine the learner\u27s achievement level, strengths, and weaknesses in five curricular subject areas at the end of the school year. The study intended to look into the relationship between academic performance in Mathematics and NAT results. There has been a purposive universal sampling design. It is purposive because the research is only studying the academic performance in Mathematics, and universal because the subjects of the study are all the grade six pupils of Victoriano D. Tirol Advance Learning Center for four consecutive school years. Documentary analysis was used as to the data of existing records on the academic performance and National Achievement Test results in Mathematics. The association between academic achievement and NAT outcomes in Mathematics was investigated using correlation analysis and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The analyses revealed that there is a significant correlation between the pupil\u27s academic performance and NAT results. Also, there is a significant degree of variance in the student\u27s performance as to National Achievement Test Results in four consecutive school years

Determining the Role of Customer Satisfaction in Gaining Customer Loyalty among Cafés
Get PDFCafé as an establishment primarily sells refreshing drinks, snacks, and light meals, with coffee being their flagship product. This type of business is steadily multiplying around the city of Tagbilaran, Bohol, Philippines. Customers have linked to business success as well as customer satisfaction and customer loyalty. This study was implemented to analyze the role of customers’ satisfaction in gaining customers’ loyalty, specifically among purposively selected cafés. The quantitative method of research approach was used with the aid of questionnaires. The data gathered were statistically treated making use of frequency, composite means, weighted mean, chi-square test, and Pearson correlation coefficients. The respondents included 210 customers from the purposively selected cafés. Results showed respondents to be very satisfied (VS) for the Product; for the price; for the place; for the service quality; and moderately satisfied (MS) for promotion. Results further showed that there is a significant degree of relationship between customer satisfaction and customer loyalty
Anxiety Towards the English Language in Relation to Academic Performance of Grade 11 Students of University of Bohol
Get PDFLanguage anxiety is a complex psychological construct described as an apprehension that occurs when a language student performs a second or foreign language. Academic performance is referred to as the grades of the students in the English subject. The study aimed to determine English Anxiety in relation to the academic performance of the respondents. This study used a descriptive survey method of assessing the level of English language anxiety and the academic performance of the students in English. Documentary analysis was used for academic performance in the English subject of the School Year, 2017-2018. The result revealed that students at the University of Bohol- Senior High School have a low level of English Anxiety. This result showed that language anxiety significantly affected the academic performance of the students in which the higher the English language Level of Anxiety, the lesser the academic performance of the students. Teachers should provide a healthy environment and a conducive learning atmosphere. The language instructor should have a stringent-free approach and a friendly personality so that the students won’t be frightened in making a mistake in the language class. It is also vital that students should be encouraged to speak up and let them practice both esteem and English language proficiency. Above all, there should be an integration between the English curriculum and extra-curricular activities to motivate students to use it for further competitions. Extra-curricular activities should be a vehicle for the enhancement and development of students’ skills
Factors Influencing Community Involvement Among BSEd – Social Studies Students

For students, this concept is part of the basic and collegiate curriculum as service learning, which links content standards to real-life learning by self–reflection. The study focused on factors influencing community involvement among BSED-Social Studies students of the University of Bohol during the first semester of the academic year 2018– 2019, based on Bronfenbrenner’s Socio-ecological Theory. The study utilized a quantitative method through a self-constructed tool and was then processed through percentage, weighted mean, composite mean, Chisquare, Analysis of Variance, and Scheffe’s test. The study revealed that respondents strongly agreed that individual factors had influenced them all the time. The result showed a significant relationship between community involvement and individual factors

Ang desinyong kwalitatibo na panunuring pangnilalaman ang ginamit sa pag-aaral. Natuklasan sa pagsusuri sa mga piling SWP na taglay ang malayang sukat, malayang tugma, kasiningan ng pagpapahayag, pagbabahagi ng karanasan ng may-akda, pag-ibig ang tamang nakatanim sa mga SWP, at kinapapaloobang ito ng simbolismo. Natuklasan sa pagsusuri batay sa sukat na taglay ang malayang sukat. Batay sa tugma, natuklasan na taglay ang malayang tugmaan. Batay sa talinghaga natuklasan na taglay ang kasiningan ng pagpapahayag, Natuklasan na nakatuon sa pagbabahagi sa karanasan ng may-akda. Natuklasang patungkol sa pag-ibig ang temang nakatanim sa lahat ng sinuring SWP, at kinapapalooban ng mga simbolismo. Ang temang nangingibabaw ay patungkol sa pag-ibig. Sa pagpapalalim ng kahulugan, ang simbolismo ay maaaring makatulong upang ang ibig ipakahulugan ang maikubli. Ang pagtuturo ng wikang Filipino ay layunin ng mga guro para sa ikakaunlad ng mga mag-aaral. Magiging makabuluhan ang pagkatuto kung nagkakaroon ng motibasyon ang mga mag-aaral sa pagtamo ng kaalaman. Batay sa nabuong konklusyon, inihain ang rekomendasyon: Iminumungkahi ang paglathala ng kinalabasan sa pag-aaral at nang mabasa ng mag-aaral at guro ang mga piling SWP. Ang guro sa Filipino ay hinihikayat na kilalanin ang makabagong paraan ng pagpapahayag sa pamamagitan ng SWP. Antioxidant Activity of Avicennia alba Blume, (1826) Family Avicenniaceae, Leaf Extracts Using DPPH Assay
Get PDFThe antioxidant activity of Avicennia alba Blume, (1826) leaf extract was determined using the 1,1-Diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) Free Radical Scavenging Activity Assay. Petroleum ether and 95 % ethanol were used as solvents in two separate macerations. Only the ethanol-free extract (TSB) exhibited antioxidant activity; it showed a color change from purple to light yellow similar to the positive control (ascorbic acid solution) and a decrease in absorbance relative to the negative control (95% ethanol). The results of the DPPH free radical scavenging activity assay were subjected to statistical analysis using one-way ANOVA then post hoc analysis results of TSB showed no significant difference vs positive control, with a percentage antioxidant activity of 68.24% ± 12.23 and 76.43% ± 9.22 respectively. The ethanol-free extract (TSB) underwent phytochemical screening by test tube method which revealed the presence of saponins, tannins, flavonoids, and glycosides. It was then subjected to column chromatography for partial purification of its chemical compounds; fractions from the eulates were collected and pooled according to their TLC profile specifically Rf values. The fractions that showed significant spots under UV light were fractions 1 and 2, and fractions 4 and 5. These two sets of fractions were tested to DPPH free radical scavenging assay. Both fractions showed a similar color change to the positive control and a decrease in absorbance relative to the negative control. Fractions 1&2 showed 69.97% ± 2.439 percentage antioxidant activity which had no significant difference from the positive control with the highest antioxidant activity of 87.88% ± 3.357. The p-value (<0.01) obtained manifested that there was a significant difference between the test solutions with their antioxidant activity. After the DPPH assay, the most active fractions 1 & 2, were subjected to FT-IR and GC-MS. The infrared spectrum showed the presence of aliphatic C-H bonds, C=O bonds, and –OH bonds while the GC-MS analysis revealed five compounds that were based on the molecular ion showed at m/z = 537.4. The functional groups present in the compounds from FT-IR and GC-MS analyses and the secondary metabolites present in phytochemical screening seemed to be responsible for the antioxidant activity of Avicennia alba leaf extracts
University of Bohol Employees Work Engagement: Measuring Workplace Productivity
Get PDFTheories on work engagement posited that engaged employees are physically, cognitively, and emotionally driven to attain organizational goals. Thus, they produce high levels of workplace productivity. Workplace productivity indexes serve as a parameter that measures how satisfactorily employees are doing and what motivates them to achieve higher goals and higher levels of efficiency and effectiveness. This study aimed to determine the level of work engagement of the human capital of the university as measured by workplace productivity. A quantitative-descriptive method with the use of the Workplace Productivity Snapshot Tool was utilized in the conduct of the research. The data collected were analyzed and interpreted using simple percentages, weighted mean, and one-way Analysis of Variance. Results showed that the UB employees were highly productive in building leadership and management capability, organizing work, networking, and collaboration, and measuring what matters. However, they are moderately productive in creating productive workplace cultures, encouraging innovation, and the use of technology, and investing in people and skills. Workplace Productive Snapshot Tool yielded moderately productive as those needing continuing feedback, monitoring, and evaluation to keep up with individual and environmental challenges. Based on the salient findings, it is elemental to determine the learning and development needs. Such will enable the employee to improve performance and achieve higher workplace productivity continually
A Project Feasibility Study of Establishing a University of Bohol Student Center at Tagbilaran City
Get PDFThis feasibility study aims to establish a University of Bohol Student Center in Tagbilaran City. The main proponent of this research is the University of Bohol, and the participants are college students of the University of Bohol. The establishment of the student center will be situated particularly in Tabaco Street Tagbilaran City. The goal of the study is to determine the viability of establishing a UB Student Center in the different aspects, namely; management, marketing, technical, financial, and socio-economic, respectively. This study used researcher-made questionnaires to gather data from the respondents. The researchers used questionnaires with randomly selected respondents with a total of 360 students from different colleges at the University of Bohol. Based on the conducted research, the researchers found out that UB Student Center is feasible in all aspects covered by this study. The majority of the target respondents are willing to patronize the student center with appropriate facilities and equipment to be offered to their students. With proper management and competent personnel in imposing policies and guidelines, the student center will be efficient and effective in the conduct of business operations. The student center shows profitability is feasible, and the investment is expected to be recouped within twelve years and three months. This feasibility study will contribute a social and economic advantage to the community. The researchers recommend that marketing programs and efforts shall be administered to announce the establishment of the student center publicly
