The arts across curriculum
Full text linkWe examine the effect of using art to improve the learning of social studies. The study focuses on a group of 4th graders, Hispanic, not English proficient, lacking in interest in social studies. The instruments used are: A Parent-Teacher Interview, the Student’s Writing/Social Studies/Arts Survey, an open-ended survey, and the collected data from the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills practice test. We find that incorporating arts in content areas provides opportunities for students to succeed in school, develop their self-esteem, and increase the students\u27 interest for the arts.We examine the effect of using art to improve the learning of social studies. This article presents a bibliographic review of the state of the art in relation to the study of virtual reality as a mediation for the learning of physical phenomena. In the first part, an introduction is made, where the problem is presented in relation to the lack of laboratories and practices in the teaching of natural sciences in Latin American schools; Therefore, it is justified to carry out a study to demonstrate whether virtual reality manages to improve learning and understanding of physical phenomena, to seek to replace practices with traditional laboratories. With the appropriate search equation, it was possible to filter the articles that are related to the topic of study presented. El presente artículo presenta una revisión bibliográfica del estado del arte, con relación al estudio de la realidad virtual como mediación, para el aprendizaje de los fenómenos físicos. En la primera parte se realiza una introducción, en donde se presenta la problemática con relación a la falta de laboratorios y prácticas en la enseñanza de las ciencias naturales en las escuelas de Latinoamérica; por lo tanto, se justifica realizar un estudio, que permita evidenciar si la realidad virtual logra mejorar el aprendizaje y la comprensión de los fenómenos físicos, para buscar remplazar las practicas con laboratorios tradicionales. Con la ecuación de búsqueda adecuada, se logró filtrar los artículos que están relacionados con el tema de estudio presentado

Full text linkIn this article I explore the possibilities of the theatre of the oppressed in the questioning and subversion of some expressions of hegemonic masculinity in educational contexts. This is based on an experience carried out with graduate students, using the technique of the image theatre for the critical analysis of the themes and objectives of some theses written by women. In this way, I understand masculinity here as a series of actions that are not always linked to male bodies, but rather as a configuration of discourses and practices that can be embodied by diverse corporealities, social groups and institutions. From the image theatre we were able to construct several collective images; in one of those, called the image of submission, we explored the articulations between masculinity and university teaching. The construction of these images and the work with the theatre of the oppressed made it possible for the students to collectively socialize their research processes, and also to reflect ethically and politically on them, from a gender perspective aimed at questioning and eradicating androcentrism in epistemologies and research methodologies in academia.En el presente artículo exploro las posibilidades que posee el teatro de lxs oprimidxs en el cuestionamiento y la subversión de algunas expresiones de la masculinidad hegemónica en contextos educativos. Lo anterior, a partir de una experiencia realizada con estudiantes de posgrado, utilizando la técnica del teatro imagen para el análisis crítico de los temas y objetivos de algunas tesis elaboradas por mujeres. De este modo, la masculinidad la comprendo aquí como una serie de acciones que no están siempre ligadas a los cuerpos de los varones, sino más bien como una configuración de discursos y prácticas que pueden ser encarnadas por diversas corporalidades, grupos sociales e instituciones. A partir del teatro imagen pudimos construir varias imágenes colectivas; en una de aquellas, denominada la imagen de la sumisión, exploramos las articulaciones entre masculinidad y docencia universitaria. La construcción de estas imágenes y el trabajo con el teatro de lxs oprimidxs posibilitó que las estudiantes pudieran socializar colectivamente sus procesos investigativos, y así también reflexionar ética y políticamente en torno a ellos, desde una mirada de género orientada a cuestionar y erradicar el androcentrismo en las epistemologías y metodologías de investigación en la academia
La Alfabetizaciones Múltiples como Dispositivo de Inclusión en la Universidad
No full textThis project addresses literacy at the university to analyze a set of contextualized communicative practices and generate proposals for the production of meanings understood as inclusive processes, based on the recognition of human, social, and cultural diversity of members of the academic world. Based on a diagnosis of weaknesses in academic communication and the experience gained in research and teaching of specialized reading and writing, we adopt a perspective of multiliteracies. From this perspective, we focus on the enculturing processes that take place in university admission, the discursive genre as a resource situated between text and society, and the multimodal nature of communication. Our ultimate goal is to articulate a critical reflection on academic genres with the development of interdisciplinary and inclusive proposals to work in the classroom.El presente proyecto aborda la alfabetización en la universidad para analizar un conjunto de prácticas comunicativas contextualizadas y generar propuestas de producción de significados como procesos inclusivos, asentados en el reconocimiento de la diversidad humana, social y cultural de los actores del mundo académico. Partiendo de un diagnóstico de debilidades en la comunicación académica y de la experiencia ganada en investigación y enseñanza de lecto-escritura especializada, nos situamos en una perspectiva de alfabetizaciones múltiples. Desde allí focalizamos los procesos de enculturación propios del ingreso a la universidad, el género discursivo como recurso situado entre texto y sociedad y el carácter multimodal de la comunicación. Nuestro objetivo último es articular una reflexión crítica sobre los géneros académicos con el desarrollo de propuestas interdisciplinares e inclusivas para trabajar en el aula

Full text linkThe use of bibliography in foreign languages ??is a current practice that goes across the university curricula and which adopts different forms of implementation.Based on data from research carried out between 2019 and 2022, this article addresses the analysis of the aspects that determine the inclusion or not of bibliography in foreign languages ??in undergraduate and postgraduate subjects of different careers at the National University of Quilmes. Besides, the work refers to the perceptions that research teachers have in relation to the reading of bibliographic sources in foreign languages ??for the development of their courses.El uso de bibliografía en lenguas extranjeras es una práctica corriente que atraviesa la currícula universitaria y que reviste diferentes formas de implementación. A partir de los datos de una investigación realizada entre 2019 y 2022, el presente artículo aborda el análisis de los aspectos que determinan la inclusión o no de bibliografía en lenguas extranjeras en materias de grado y posgrado de distintas carreras de la Universidad Nacional de Quilmes. No full textThe scenario of urban desolation in the Santo Tomás population, located on the southern outskirts of Santiago, is not due to what some authors call the culture of poverty. If not, rather, it is the result of the operation of a network of institutions (public and private) that reproduce and perpetuate such a condition. Through a case study, with qualitative data collection techniques, this research sought; understand the position and way of maneuvering of the local institution, represented by the municipality, in a marginal space, and glimpse the socio-spatial effects caused by its operation.
Among the main findings, regarding the performance of the municipality in the population, it was observed that there is; (1) a poor targeting and excess of "categorizations" that are made of the territory and individual; (2) a maintenance of the status quo of relegation and waiting (tools used as a territorial disincentive strategy); and, (3) the corruption faced by the local government. All this, taken as a whole, has generated what is called a cumulative circular causation of problems that erect the walls of what we will call here red zones, that is, spaces (re)produced by public and private institutions that keep the subjects who they inhabit it in a structural marginalityEl escenario de desolación urbana en la población Santo Tomás ubicada en la periferia sur de Santiago, no se debe a lo que algunos autores denominan la cultura de la pobreza. Si no, más bien, es resultado de la operatoria de un entramado de instituciones (públicas y privadas) que reproducen y perpetúan tal condición. Mediante un estudio de caso, con técnicas cualitativas de recolección de información, esta investigación buscó; entender la posición y forma de maniobrar de la institución local, representada por el municipio, en un espacio marginal, y vislumbrar los efectos socioespaciales que provoca su operación.
Entre los principales hallazgos, respecto a la actuación del municipio en la población, se observó que existe; (1) una mala focalización y exceso de “categorizaciones” que se hacen del territorio e individuo; (2) un mantenimiento del statu quo de relegación y espera (herramientas utilizadas como estrategia de desincentivación territorial); y, (3) la corrupción que enfrenta el gobierno local. Todo esto, en su conjunto ha generado lo que se denomina una causación circular acumulativa de problemas que erigen los muros de lo que aquí llamaremos zonas rojas, es decir, espacios (re)producidos por las instituciones públicas y privadas que mantienen a los sujetos que lo habitan en una marginalidad estructural

The present study intends to relate the situation in different scales to spin, so that those become points through which to weave the relationships between the complexity of the species that inhabit the cities, as well as between the city and the nearby ecosystems. The collection of wild fragments in the urban fabric, seeks from its survey and registration, as well as its relationship with currents of thought, its enhancement as an urban environmental situation as well as its possibilities from the architectural point of view.El presente estudio pretende relacionar la situación en distintas escalas para hilar, a razón de que aquellas pasen a ser puntos por donde tejer las relaciones entre la complejidad de las especies que habitan las ciudades, como también entre la ciudad y los ecosistemas cercanos. La colección de fragmentos silvestres en la trama urbana, busca a partir de su levantamiento y registro, como de su relación con corrientes de pensamiento, su puesta en valor como situación urbano ambiental como también sus posibilidades desde la arquitectura.

En el presente texto se articula y organiza la información disponible en diferentes documentos dispersos sobre la vida del poeta y activista cultural Julio Walton Hesse, para visibilizarlo tanto como creador como en el rol de agente cultural con un relevante compromiso político revolucionario que atraviesa toda su obra. Como primer paso, se sitúa
al autor dentro de la vanguardia Rosa Náutica de Valparaíso, para, en seguida, reconstituir la totalidad fragmentaria de su obra, articulándola en un diagrama que la sitúe en relación con su trabajo como creador de revistas y editor. Finalmente se hace un análisis del poema “El aullido de las rameras” en relación con otros textos del escritor, considerando su contexto de producción, exponiendo el desplazamiento entre el cosmopolitismo cultural y el internacionalismo proletario que hay en su obra.
Abstract:
This text articulates and organises the information available in different scattered documents on the life of the poet and cultural activist Julio Walton Hesse, in order to make him visible both as a creator and as a cultural agent with a relevant revolutionary political commitment that runs through his entire oeuvre. The first step is to situate the author within the Rosa Náutica de Valparaíso avant-garde, and then to reconstitute the fragmentary totality of his work, articulating it in a diagram that situates it in relation to his work as a magazine creator and editor. Finally, an analysis is made of the poem "El aullido de las rameras" in relation to other texts by the writer, considering his context of production, exposing the shift between cultural cosmopolitanism and proletarian internationalism in his

Representación de los Docentes sobre Buen Trato, sus Estrategias y sus Incidencias en la Convivencia Escolar
Full text linkIn Chilean schools, mistreatment is on the rise. The Ministry of Education proposes to promote well-treating relationships by modelling the good treatment in their students as teaching labor in order to establish positive attachment relationships as part of the classroom environment. This study analyzes the representation of teachers about good treatment, their strategies and relationship with school coexistence through the qualitative method with focus groups. The findings reveal the basic level of knowledge that teachers have in relation to the central theme of good treatment and the great importance they assign to positive communication between teacher and student.En los colegios de Chile, los malos tratos han ido aumentando, el Ministerio de Educación propone promover relaciones bien tratantes, siendo labor docente modelar en sus estudiantes el buen trato, para establecer relaciones de apego positivo, como parte del clima de aula. Este estudio, analiza la representación de los profesores sobre el buen trato, sus estrategias y relación con la convivencia escolar, a través del método cualitativo desarrollando grupos focales participando, 39 profesores(as) de todos los niveles de un establecimiento de la región de Valparaíso, Chile. Como conclusión, se destaca la incidencia que tiene el buen trato en la convivencia escolar y la relevancia de la reciprocidad, entre la relación profesor-alumno, lo que beneficia las prácticas pedagógicas, promoviendo vínculos positivos que fomentan la confianza, la autonomía y la autoestima de los estudiantes

This study is based on a data set of the “citing texts” (114) of three articles of the field of Linguistics that come from a Brazilian journal, a
Chilean journal and a South African journal, among the most cited articles of the journals Scielo basis (Google Scholar data) in the month of September, 2021. The methodological procedures take into account the criteria (i) year of publication of the citing texts, (ii) language of publication of the citing texts, (iii) discourse genre of the citing texts, and (iv) location of the institution to which the author(s) of the citing texts are affiliated. The results problematize a culture restricted to bibliometric indexes.

Este artículo tiene como objetivo identificar y analizar aspectos que no son tratados o no pueden ser visualizados en los índices bibliométricos de revistas y artículos de Humanidades, específicamente en el campo de la Lingüística. Este estudio se basa en un conjunto de datos de los “textos a citar” (114) de tres artículos del campo de la Lingüística
que provienen de una revista brasileña, una revista chilena y una revista sudafricana, entre los artículos más citados de las revistas base Scielo (datos de Google Scholar) en el mes de septiembre de 2021. Los procedimientos metodológicos tienen en cuenta los criterios (i)año de publicación de los textos citados, (ii) lengua de publicación de los textos citados, (iii) género del discurso de los textos citados y (iv) localización de la institución a la que pertenecen el autor o los autores de los textos citados. Los resultados cuestionan una cultura restringida a los índices bibliométricos
