Installation of Solar Rooftop : A Viability and an Empirical Study

Solar energy is one of the mostpromising sources of renewable energy (RE). It is widely abundant and producesless. greenhouse gas emissions relative to energy sources from fossilfuel.India is both, densely populated and has high solar insolation, providing an ideal combination for solar power generation. This research is an attempt to understand the financial viability in terms of cost savings for solar rooftop system for the residents of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar city, Gujarat. Sustainable Forest Management Practices and the Recent Experience of Birbhum District, West Bengal: Some Critical Observations
Sustainable forest management refers to both the expansion offorest area and the conservation of biodiversity. Theincorporation of forest-user groups into forest managementpractices under the social forestry scheme has led to animprovement of the canopy cover over the years but the protectionof biodiversity has been at stake. To understand the reasonbehind this dilemma, an in-depth study of such user groups wasconducted in a few selected forest patches of the Birbhum districtof West Bengal. The study reveals that while the incentive packagedesigned for forest protection is encouraging monocultureplantation, a gradual transition of culture as well as livelihoodpractices of the forest-dependent people has adversely affectedtheir motivation for conservation of forest biodiversity. Therefore, need arises to design new strategic intervention policies thatcan incentivise forest protection without compromisingbiodiversity conservation

A child is God’s gift. Parenting is about teaching children todevelop good habits and become good citizens. Green parentingis about bringing up the child in eco-friendly ways. In this concept, the child is taught the importance of environment and itsconservation. Under green parenting, parents use different methodsin order to raise the babies in green ways such as providingorganic food, using cloth diapers instead of disposable diapers, giving lead-free toys, minimizing usage of plastic products etc.Parents may also swap the “gently used” clothes and toys toconserve the resources. The concept of green parenting is quitepopular in western countries, but the awareness for the same isless in India. The empirical studies for green parenting are rare inIndia. Therefore, the present study tries to empirically highlightthe awareness and practices towards the novel concept of greenparenting in Anand and Gandhinagar region of Gujarat and thestudy is supplemented by the commendable work of Children’sUniversity based in Gujarat in the area of child education anddevelopment
