    Ideating Innovative Learning Spaces in Social Work Institutions: Reflections of Student Social Workers

    This paper delves into the transformative potential of innovative learning spaces within socialwork education, focusing on student reflections from the experiential theatre society, Arangu.The study examines the impact on student self-perception, envisions reimagined learningspaces within social work institutions, and underscores the benefits of student co-designingfor holistic growth. Through in-depth interviews with seven student social workers, theresearch explores perceptions of innovative learning spaces and their alignment withprofessional approaches. Findings reveal a profound evolution in self-perception, highlightingthe significance of spaces like Arangu in nurturing hidden talents and fostering a sense ofpurpose. Students advocate for flexible, inclusive, and dynamic learning environments,challenging traditional structures and emphasizing the need for a personalized,interdisciplinary education.     Teachers’ Perception of Sex Education in Primary Schools

    With a declining average age of reproductive fertility, a significant proportion of childrenexperience signs of puberty in primary school. Moreover, child sex abuse is considerablyprevalent among primary school students. Therefore, sex education in primary school isimperative for the well-being of students. This article describes the results of a study amongprimary school teachers about their perception of sex education at the primary level. Thisstudy adopted a descriptive quantitative design. Data collection was from the randomlyselected primary school teachers in the Beluvai village of Karnataka, India. Their perceptionsof the needs, barriers and benefits of sex education were measured using a questionnairedeveloped by the researchers. The sample size for this study was 60, including males andfemales. Data analysis of this study was in SPSS, which proved the positive attitude ofteachers towards sex education, although some of their views varied with their age group.However, this study proved that teachers’ unwillingness is the major obstacle to sex educationat the primary level.     Field education is an integral part of social work education that equips social work studentswith professional skills and competencies. Field education, the signature pedagogy of socialwork education, facilitates the transfer of theoretical knowledge and understanding intopractice. However, signature pedagogy undergoes continuous revisions to make the socialwork profession more fully attuned to the diversity of clients. This article describes findingsfrom a review of field education manuals or frameworks of four universities in four countries:India, the United States, Australia and Canada. A comparison of the field learning outcomesproposed by the universities confirmed the common goals of achieving a professional identitythrough ethical and competent training. Furthermore, it highlighted the need for a structuredmanual for field training to ensure the exposure of social work students to diverse populationsand their needs and to design and deliver bespoke services under adequate supervision
