English Teachers’ Learning Activities as Learners
No full textTeachers’ task is not solely related to teaching, such as planning, implementing, and evaluating teachinglearning activities. Teachers also have a responsibility to grow professionally by upgrading their
instructional knowledge and skills so that they can manage better teaching practices aligned with current
educational demand and advancement in Information and Communications Technology (ICT). In this
case, teachers are learners who do continuous learning about themselves, their students, and their
profession as teachers. This study using survey design aims to explore learning activities that the English
teachers participate in as their professional development conduct in the Indonesian context. This study
further investigates the teachers’ perception of the learning activities and the obstacles that hinder them
from participating in the learning activities. The participants of this study were 30 English teachers from
junior and senior high schools in South Kalimantan Province attending PPG (Education for Teacher
Profession). The data of this study was collected using the teacher questionnaire based on the Teaching
and Learning International Survey (TALIS). The analysis of the findings on practices of teacher
professional development regarding real professional development activities that English teachers
participate in showed that they experienced some obstacles in participating in the program. The obstacles
consisted of the schedule, high payment of some TPD activities, family’s responsibilities, employer
support, unsuitability of the offered professional development program, and lack of information about the
availability of professional development activities. Despite facing those obstacles, English teachers in this
particular context are committed to growing through continuous professional learning

No full textModel pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS adalah model yang membuat peserta didik menanggapi serta saling membantu. TPS juga sangat berpotensi dalam membina karakter mandiri dan komunikatif siswa dalam belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) membina karakter mandiri siswa melalui penerapan model kooperatif tipe TPS, (2) membina karakter komunikatif siswa melalui penerapan model kooperatif tipe TPS, (3) mengetahui hasil belajar siswa melalui penerapan model kooperatif tipe TPS, (4) menganalisis hubungan antara karakter mandiri dan komunikatif dengan hasil belajar siswa melalui penerapan model kooperatif tipe TPS. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan metode Eksperimen Semu dan desain Time Series di kelas VIII SMP Negeri 24 Banjarmasin. Teknik pengumpulan data ada Tes dan observasi. Data yang didapat diuji melalui korelasi berganda. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa: (1) penerapan model kooperatif tipe TPS dalam pembelajaran matematika dapat membina karakter mandiri siswa, (2) penerapan model kooperatif tipe TPS dalam pembelajaran matematika dapat membina karakter komunikatif siswa, (3) penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS dapat mengubah hasil siswa menjadi lebih baik dari pertemuan pertama dengan kategori kurang menjadi lebih baik pada pertemuan keenam, dan (4) terdapat hubungan positif antara karakter mandiri dan karakter komunikatif siswa dengan hasil belajar siswa. Identifying And Developing Tourism Program In LokBaintan Floating Market In South Kalimantan, Indonesia
No full textAbstract: The purposes of this research are to identify the tourism potential and discuss the development
concept of floating market tourism in Lok Baintan, South Kalimantan. Field survey was conducted at Lok
Baintan floating market and its surrounding area through direct observation, documentation and mapping sites
location. The acquisition of coordinates position of potential tourism attraction spots was done by direct
measurement on the field using GPS/Global Positioning System. Secondary data was obtained from relevant
resources and agencies. This research found some potential tourism object on Lok Baintan floating market,
ranging from natural to cultural objects. Rivers is an important ecosystem to facilitate the sustainability of
floating market and the futures sustainable tourism development in Lok Baintan floating market. The
conservation of natural resources in Lok Baintan and its surrounding area become the crucial programs to
implement, with the objectives are ensuring sustainability and existence of indigenous system, biodiversity and
mitigating conflict between local people and tourism industry in Lok Baintan floating market.
