A Study on Extent of Knowledge Level among Distant Learners of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University
The study on Extent of Knowledge level among distant learners of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) was undertaken with objective to document the extent of knowledge level among the distant learners. The research design used was ex post facto. The Coconut Cultivation Technology course was purposefully selected out of the 21 certificate programmes, since it had the greatest enrollment. Students who successfully completed the Coconut Cultivation Technology certificate course from batches 2019-2021 made up the study\u27s sample. Out of the 234 students, 130 were chosen using the proportionate random sample method. The data was gathered from the chosen students through both in-person and telephone interviews using a well-structured questionnaire. The study\u27s findings showed that after attending the certificate course, more over half of the learners (53.85%) had medium level of knowledge on cultivation technologies. Also, it was inferred that variables including educational status, farm size, farming experience, information seeking behaviour, determinant factors, progressiveness, job aspiration, attitude towards ODL course and attitude towards entrepreneurship had positive significant relationship with the knowledge level of the learners. It is concluded that learners see distant learning as an efficient medium for education in order to increase their knowledge of agriculture technologies, which would help them improve the conditions on their farms and possible way to start a business

Analysis of Food Insecurity among Rural Farming Households: Evidence from Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Nigeria
Food insecurity is a major global challenge that is more prevalent in developing nations like Nigeria with varying degrees of impact on households and demanding immediate attention from policymakers. This study assessed the level of insecurity among farming households in Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Nigeria using the Household Food Insecurity Access Scale (HFIAS) approach. The data for the study was collected from 140 farming households selected using a two-stage sampling technique. Descriptive statistics were employed to characterize the socioeconomic attributes of the farming households and the coping strategies adopted during periods of food shortages, and the binary probit model to examine the determining factors of the food security status of the households. The HFIAS analysis result revealed that 83.7% of the households were food insecure at varying levels. The binary probit results revealed that household size, annual household income, cooperative membership, and access to extension services are the key determinants of household food security status in the study area. Given the study findings, we recommended the need for increasing the awareness of rural farming households on the use of family planning for enhancing household food-nutrition security. Influence of Socio-personal and Management Factors to Generate the Knowledge Level of the Farmers Associated with Sericulture of West Bengal, India
Knowledge level is assessed in respect to a total of twenty-one socio-management variables associated with sericultural practices by the farmers in West Bengal, India. The study was conducted using a total of 126 respondents under three districts. The independent fourteen societal and seven management factors were statistically analyzed using correlation, path, factor and regression models. Consistency and dependency level in between the independent variables were assessed and found discrete and/or random in nature. Various model values by path analysis showed the direct substantial effect on x10, x12 and x19 where they occupied the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. All the variables were justified by a total of seven factors extracted form a homophyllus group and identified with their variation and cumulative percentages. Regression equations was extracted for knowledge level (y) separately as dependent variable and Minimum Data Set as predictor set. The probability of ‘F’ value ranged from 0.05 - 0.10 and found in variables x10 and x16, critically effected on the predicted character knowledge level (y). Considering all these socio-management factors, if the identified variables can be taken care in knowledge level increment, the number of sericulture farmers will be more in future across West Bengal
