Screening of Groundnut Genotypes against Spodoptera litura (Fab.) with Respect to Leaf Damage
A field experiment was conducted at Main Oilseeds Research Station, Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh, Gujarat in 2023 during the kharif season to investigate the screening of groundnut genotypes against Spodoptera litura (Fab.) with respect to leaf damage. The field screening of thirty different genotypes of groundnut against S. litura was laid out in a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two replicationsand revealed that JVB-2597 exhibited the minimum per cent leaf damage (4.69%), while JVB-2577 recorded the maximum per cent leaf damage (9.28%). From the categorization, it can be revealed that JVB-2597, JSSP-76, JB-1572, J-108, JVB-2607 and JB-1551 are resistant to S. litura, with infestations ranging from 4.69% to 5.92% leaf damage. Conversely, JSSP-69, JB-1585, J-118, J-111 and JVB-2577 are susceptible, recording infestation levels between 8.87% to 9.28% leaf damage

Assessing Key Constraints in Cashew Production: Insights from Kerala and Tamil Nadu, India
India ranks among the world’s top cashew producers, with Kerala and Tamil Nadu serving as key contributors to the country\u27s cashew production. Among the Plantation sector, specifically cashew cultivation plays a pivotal role in boosting farm economy in India. This particular study explores field constraints experienced by cashew growers in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, which significantly impacts cashew cultivation. The key objective is to compare field challenges experienced by cashew growers among major producers in southern regions of India. The methodology involves a purposive multi-stage sampling approach to select regions, with an equal proportion of 80 respondents from each state selected through simple random sampling. Totally, 160 cashew growers were investigated for data collection through pre-tested structured interview schedule. The data sets were analysed using SPSS software, with frequency and percentage analysis employed to rank the identified constraints. The significant findings were pest and disease infestations, labour scarcity, unstable market price, lack of technical know-how and inadequate processing facilities. Notably, 100 per cent of growers reported that, Cashew Stem and Root Borer (CSRB) infestation as a most critical issue in both states. This paper highlights, region-specific and timely technical interventions, commodity-specific assured markets, proper pricing system and infrastructure development. The study\u27s interpretation highlights the need to address high-priority and specialized constraints through targeted policy reforms and technical support systems, aiming to enhance the productivity and sustainability of cashew farming in India. These findings also provide valuable insights that can be applied to other cashew-producing regions and contribute to shaping national agricultural policies
Gastrointestinal Ultrasound in Dogs: Scientometric Analysis
The objective of this study is to evaluate, through a scientometric analysis, the scientific production of studies related to intestinal ultrasonography in dogs. For this purpose, using the Web of Science database, articles published between 2014 and 2023 were selected. The initial screening of the studies resulted in the selection of 103 papers, of which only 10 were included in this research after evaluating the criteria related to the theme and methodology used. Data collection consisted of gathering information on publication date, authors, journals, countries, keywords, document type, areas of knowledge, objectives, institutions, and relevant information on the subject. The results show a cycle of 3 publications up to the year 2021, as well as keywords related to the topic but aligned with other areas, such as neonatology. Other findings included the identification of 48 authors, two articles restricted to the topic, greater participation from Italian universities in the publications, and a main focus on intestinal ultrasonography. It is concluded that this study is of great importance, as it provides greater transparency and open access to scientific research
Empowering Women through Sericulture: Transforming Defective Cocoons into Opportunities
In South Asia, particularly India, women face significant challenges stemming from gender discrimination, poverty, and caste-based inequalities. Self-Help Groups (SHGs) have emerged as a pivotal approach to women\u27s empowerment, promoting both economic independence and social awareness. This review paper explores the role of sericulture, specifically the crafting of handicrafts from silk cocoons, as a means of enhancing women\u27s livelihoods in rural areas. By utilizing cut and pierced cocoons, artisans can create a diverse array of decorative and functional products, contributing to both personal income and community development. This innovative use of by- products in handicrafts not only fosters creativity but also promotes self-employment, allowing marginalized women to gain economic agency. Moreover, engaging in cocoon crafting serves as a therapeutic activity, improving mental well-being and providing a sense of purpose. The study emphasizes the importance of integrating bio-crafts into the broader sericulture industry. This integration not only enhances sustainability by making use of waste materials but also provides a reliable income stream for women and their families. The potential for value addition through skilled craftsmanship transforms what would otherwise be discarded into valuable products, contributing to the local economy. Ultimately, these initiatives improve women\u27s economic status and contribute to their social empowerment, offering a multifaceted solution to entrenched gender inequalities in South Asia. By equipping women with skills and resources, fostering community support, and promoting environmentally sustainable practices, the crafting of silk cocoon handicrafts exemplifies a holistic approach to addressing the challenges faced by women in rural areas. Through this innovative model, women can achieve greater independence, enhance their social standing, and participate actively in their communities, paving the way for a more equitable and empowered society
Scientometric Analysis of Canine Chronic Enteropathy
The objective of this study is to present, through scientometrics, data obtained from research related to chronic enteropathy in dogs, in order to produce a quantitative analysis of the scientific production on the topic, supporting research and scientific articles. Using the Web of Science database, 111 articles were selected based on the specific critria including of title, language, species and its relation to the topic of this research. Data were collected and analysed based on the number of articles published by date, keywords used, number of authors, and institutions. The results demonstrate that the year 2022 recorded the highest number of publications, with 27 articles. Three authors were prominent, contributing between 12 and 18 publications. Furthermore, the number of studies per institution varied between 43 and 13 articles. This analysis highlights the key contributors and trends in the field, offering insights into the topic addressed, making it possible to conclude that research like this can contribute to the development of solutions for managing chronic enteropathies in dogs
Optimizing Cookie Formulation Using a Composite Flour Blend of Soybean, Beetroot, and Wheat: Effects on Physicochemical and Phytonutrient Characteristics
This study aimed to optimize cookie formulation using a composite flour blend of soybean (SF), beetroot (BF), and wheat (WF). Four blends were formulated: 50% WF:45% SF:5% BF (T1), 50% WF:35% SF:15% BF (T2), 50% WF:25% SF:25% BF (T3), and 100% WF (Control) (T4) for cookie preparation. The inclusion of SF and BF had significant effects on the physical, chemical, and phytonutrient attributes of the cookies. Results showed an increase in diameter and height with the addition of beetroot and soy flour. T2 had the highest weight (9.57g), diameter (5.42cm), and spread ratio (6.46) among the blends, while T3 had the highest total color difference. T1 cookies had higher levels of protein, crude fiber, total phenolic content, and total antioxidant activity compared to the control. Statistical analysis indicated that the sensory characteristics of the cookies were not significantly affected by the addition of soy and beetroot flours. This study suggests that composite flour cookies enriched with nutritional and antioxidant properties can be developed by incorporating varying levels of beetroot and soy flour alongside wheat flour
New Modified Efficient Variance Estimators for the Estimation of Population Variance in Survey Sampling
For efficient and precise estimate of population variance, we have proposed some new ratio type variance estimators in the current research work by incorporating the linear combination of conventional and non-conventional parameters of auxiliary information. Bias and mean square error have been computed up to the first order of approximation. Numerical demonstration has been carried out to test the efficiency of new proposed estimators against existing estimators
