Improving Productivity of Semi Dry Rice Through Field Demonstrations in Ramanathapuram District, Tamil Nadu, India
Field demonstrations were conducted at farmer’s field under semi dry rice cultivation in direct sowing by seed drill with short duration drought tolerant rice variety RMD 1. A total of 155 field demonstrations were conducted at farmer’s fields by ICAR, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu. The selected farmers were trained for improved production technologies through training programmes organized by this Krishi Vigyan Kendra. Local variety with their indigenous cultivation practices was considered as farmer’s practice (control). The yield and economics of field demonstrations were compared with farmer’s practices. An average yield of 5,001 kg.ha-1 was recorded from RMD 1 demonstrations which showed 10.25 % increase over the farmers practice (4535 kg.ha-1). Farmers have obtained additional revenue of Rs. 14,300 ha-1 from semi dry rice field demonstrations with short duration rice variety, which may motivate the farmers to adopt this intervention in this district with the improved rice production technologies. The field demonstration on new varietal introduction effectively influenced the attitudes, skill and knowledge related to improved practices in rice cultivation, fostering adoption. It also enhances the relationship between farmers and scientists
Clinical and Therapeutic Approach to Lymphocytic Alimentary Lymphoma in a Cat: Case Report
The report aims to describe a case of lymphocytic alimentary lymphoma in a feline. A male, no defined breed, neutered feline patient, 11 years old, presented at a veterinary clinic due to episodes of vomiting. No changes were observed during the clinical examination, and the patient underwent additional examinations. Screening tests revealed abnormalities in the stratification of the intestinal layers, indicating the necessity for a biopsy to investigate the tissue architecture of the affected intestinal segments. Following the diagnosis of alimentary lymphoma, drug treatment was initiated, and the patient continued to be clinically monitored. Lymphoma is a common hematopoietic neoplasm in felines, the diagnosis of which is challenging and requires the utilization of several methods to classify it accurately and direct treatment, thereby alleviating clinical signs
Therapeutic with Obstetrical Management to Deliver Live Three Male Foetuses in a Surti Doe
Dystocia is common occurrence in small ruminants like goat and sheep. A case tentatively diagnosed as a foetal dystocia due to foetal dorso-pubic position and malpostures of foetus in seven year old surti doe based on the history, clinical signs and vaginal examination. The present case described a successful delivery of three live male foetuses by obstetrical mutational approach following therapeutically intravenous administration of 20IU- Oxytocin, 30ml-calcium borogluconate and 500ml Normal saline, whereas 5ml valethamate bromide and antihistamine were administered intramuscularly. Supportive therapy various fluids, analgesic, antibiotic and intra-uterine pessaries, resulted a affected Surti doe to normal health within few days
Overview of Research Progress on Innovative Approaches to Steel-concrete Joint Interfaces for Enhanced Performance in Cable-stayed Bridges
The steel cable-stayed bridge has the characteristics of light weight, high construction precision, easy assembly, good seismic performance and clear force of cable tower anchorage structure. The concrete tower or pile cap has the advantages of high rigidity, low cost and low maintenance cost. Steel-concrete hybrid bridge tower combines the advantages of steel bridge tower and concrete bridge tower, and has been adopted by more and more bridge structures. This paper mainly introduces the structural form of steel-concrete composite bridge tower, and supplements the application of steel-concrete composite structure in main beam. Analysis of Breast Cancer Data Using KNN Algorithm
Comparing the performance of machine learning algorithms over the same dataset is the current research trend. The fact that each algorithm has its underlying assumptions indicate that not all algorithms should be compared with each other on the same dataset. Hence, every algorithm should be compared only when the dataset satisfies the underlying assumptions. Algorithms that are suitable for a certain dataset should only be compared with each other at the optimal level. To pave a way for this, this study investigates the performance of several variations of the -Nearest Neighbors (NN) algorithm on a dataset comprising 569 breast cancer cases from the United States. The research evaluates the impact of three distance metrics, namely; Chebyshev, Manhattan, and Euclidean, across various values of . The analysis reveals that the optimal metric is Euclidean distance metric and the optimal values are and The optimal results obtained is 97.37% accuracy, 97.26% (Benign) and 97.56% (Malignant) precision, 98.61% (Benign) and 95.24% (Malignant) recall, and 97.93% (Benign) and 96.39% (Malignant) F1-scores. Additionally, the two optimal models (for and ) exhibit strong agreement on the feature’s importance except compactness feature. Further analysis is recommended to better understand the role of compactness in breast cancer diagnosis
Association between Serum Biomarkers of Muscle Damage after Isokinetic Eccentric Exercise in Trained Males and Females
Eccentric exercise is well-known to induce muscle damage, and biomarkers may be related to the magnitude of impact on muscle force and muscle soreness after exercise. However, this phenomenon still needs to be investigated in more detail. The present study aimed to analyze if a correlation between muscle force, soreness, and biomarkers after eccentric exercise exists in healthy, trained 11 males and females. Eleven volunteers with previous resistance training experience performed 6 x 10 maximal isokinetic eccentric contractions of the elbow flexors in the muscle performance laboratory up to 72 hours after exercise. Peak torque was measured by maximal voluntary isometric contractions (MVIC) and muscle soreness by visual analogic scale (VAS) before, 24h, 48h, and 72h after the isokinetic eccentric exercise protocol. A fluorescence immunoassay analyzer determined Myoglobin and C-reactive protein levels. The MVIC significantly decreased while muscle soreness increased 24h, 48h, and 72h post eccentric exercise. Myoglobin significantly increased 48h and 72h after exercise. Muscle soreness was inversely correlated with MVIC 24h, 48h, and 72h and positively correlated with myoglobin 48h and 72h after eccentric exercise. The myoglobin was not correlated with muscle force. No significant correlation between C-reactive protein and muscle soreness and MVIC was found. In conclusion, our data suggest that myoglobin could be a valuable biomarker to be assessed alongside exercise-induced muscle soreness.  
A Study on Constraints Faced by Millet Stakeholders in Tamil Nadu, India
Millets, highly nutritious grains, are crucial for food security and nutrition due to their resilience in challenging agricultural conditions and rich nutritional content. This study investigates the constraints faced by stakeholders involved in the millet industry in Tamil Nadu, The research focuses on farmers, market intermediaries, and consumers, highlighting their challenges within the millet supply chain. A purposive sample of 90 millet-growing farmers and various market intermediaries was selected from key millet-producing districts. Data collection involved structured interviews and analysis using descriptive statistics and Garrett Ranking Technique. Results reveal significant production constraints for farmers, including price fluctuation, high seed costs, and pest and disease occurrence. Market intermediaries face challenges such as supply-demand imbalance and high transportation costs. Consumers encounter issues like limited availability and high prices of millet-based products. These findings underscore the multifaceted challenges within the millet industry, emphasizing the need for targeted interventions to address constraints and enhance the sustainability and accessibility of millets in Tamil Nadu
Comparative Study of Unfractionated Heparins and Low Molecular Weight Heparin on Skin Wound Repair
Aims: Heparin (HP) has aroused interest in the treatment of skin wounds. The HP extraction sources and the chemical diversity of its structural chain result in different clinical responses. In this study, a comparison was made among the effects of unfractionated heparin from bovine (bovHP) and swine (swi.HP) sources and low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) on skin lesions treatment.
Study Design: Wounds were induced on the back of Swiss mice using a punch. Then, the wounds were treated with heparins for 3 and 7 days.
Place and Duration of Study: Institute of Biomedical Sciences and Animal Breeding Network and Rodents of the Federal University of Uberlândia, between April 2018 and February 2020.
Methodology: Wound closure was performed with a digital caliper. The inflammatory infiltrate was assessed by the activity of neutrophils and macrophages. Angiogenesis was measured by quantifying blood vessels and measuring hemoglobin. While fibrogenesis was assessed by picrosirius red staining.
Results: None of the heparins had a healing effect. Swi.HP showed delay in wound closure and intensification of the inflammatory process compared to bov.HP. Swine and bovine heparins showed pro-angiogenic activity, although this did not differ between them. Difference between the groups of heparins was observed in relation to the deposition and organization of collagen fibers, with a reduction in fibrogenesis in wounds of the LMWH group compared to the other heparins, especially bov.HP. A better fibrogenic activity was observed for bov.HP.
Conclusion: Thus, we conclude that the source of the heparin used should be considered, as its pharmacological response for wound treatment is quite diverse. Although none of the heparins was able to accelerate wound closure, bov.HP had an anti-inflammatory and pro- fibrogenic effect compared to the other heparins and therefore showed the best response in this experimental model
Morphometric Study of the Jacuí River Watershed in João Monlevade (MG): A Geographic Perspective
Knowledge of the characteristics of a watershed is fundamental to understanding the environmental dynamics of this planning unit. In this sense, the objective of this work was to characterize the morphometric aspects of the Córrego Jacuí watershed, located in the municipality of João Monlevade (MG), since this characterization makes it possible to understand the hydrological behaviour of the watershed and provide subsidies for its management. The bibliographic survey showed no morphometric studies available for the watershed studied. Considering the increasing urbanization of the basin, these first studies are important to understand its dynamics. The study used the Shuttle Radar Topographic Mission (SRTM) image with a resolution of 30 m and the digital elevation model (DEM) generated from it. The geoprocessing of the watershed information was carried out using tools from the free software Quantum Gis (QGIS). The morphometric parameters determined for the studied basin were area, perimeter, total length of tributary channels, compactness coefficient (Kc), shape factor (Kf), drainage density (Dd) and circularity index (Ic). The results indicate that the basin is elongated, with moderately developed dendritic drainage and a low to moderate propensity to flood under average annual rainfall conditions. It should be noted, however, that land use and occupation activity that interferes with the main channel can alter this trend by silting up the watercourse, making flooding more frequent than the morphometric characteristics of the watershed indicate
