    Research Progress and Prospect of Polyphosphoric Acid Modified Asphalt Technology

    In order to clarify the current status of polyphosphoric acid (PPA)-modified asphalt technology, to solve its road problems, and to promote its further popularization and application, the research progress of PPA-modified asphalt technology in scientific research and engineering is summarized. Firstly, the chemical modification mechanism of PPA on asphalt is revealed from the components, chemical reaction and microstructure; the engineering application and service situation of PPA-modified asphalt pavements at home and abroad are evaluated; finally, the future research direction of PPA-modified asphalt is envisioned. The PPA-modified asphalt with dosage of 0.5%,1.0%,1.5%,2.0% was studied, and the presence of PPA was almost indistinguishable from that in the fluorescence micrographs of modified asphalt, and the compatibility between PPA and asphalt was excellent. Atomic force microscopy has a higher resolution relative to fluorescence electron microscopy as well as scanning electron microscopy.The results show that PPA can react chemically with asphalt components to increase the asphaltene content, and the incorporation of PPA helps to improve the high temperature performance, aging resistance, and fatigue characteristics of asphalt. At present, there is no supporting application guide for PPA-modified asphalt technology, and the lack of long-term observation of PPA-modified asphalt test sections restricts the popularization and application of PPA-modified asphalt technology in China

    Effect of Tulsi Leaf Powder along with Casing Mixture on the Growth Parameters and Yield of White Button Mushroom [Agaricus bisporus (Lange) Imbach]

    Agaricus bisporus (Lange) Imbach commonly known as white button mushroom, is the most widely accepted food globally with nutritional and medicinal properties. The present experiment was conducted during the Rabi season 2023 - 2024 at Mushroom crop room, Department of Plant Pathology, SHUATS, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh to evaluate the effect of tulsi leaf powder at different concentrations (1 %, 1.5 %, 2 %, 2.5 % and 3 %) incorporated into casing mixture (alone and combination) viz., farm yard manure, farm yard manure + cocopeat + sawdust (1:1:1) with an objective to monitor the growth and yield aspects of white button mushroom. Among all treatments used in the study, the results revealed that minimum average time taken for completion of case run (15.14 days) and pinhead initiation (15.57 days) as well as maximum pileus diameter (4.63 cm), stalk length (3.77 cm), stalk diameter (3.01 cm), maximum yield (557.9 g), biological efficiency(12.97 %) and highest cost benfit ratio (1: 3.18) was recorded in farm yard manure + cocopeat + sawdust (1:1:1) + tulsi leaf powder @ 3%. These results indicated that incorporating tulsi leaf powder @3% in casing mixture improves the growth and yield of A. bisporus

    Maxillary Acanthomatous Ameloblastoma in Dog: Case Report

    This report aims to describe a case of acanthomatous ameloblastoma in the central region of the left maxilla in a dog that had a history of sialorrhea and hyporexia. A 12-year-old Shih Tzu dog weighing 5 kg was treated at a veterinary clinic specializing in veterinary dentistry. The animal had an increase in volume in the left maxilla caused by a pink mass with irregular contours. The animal had difficulty eating and was progressively losing weight. Imaging tests revealed a neoplastic growth and displacement of the teeth affected by the tumor mass, without bone involvement. In the histopathological examination the gingival cells were polygonal in shape with broad, eosinophilic cytoplasm, with distinct borders and evident desmosomal junctions, arranged in a palisade or perpendicular to the basement membrane, being compatible with acanthomatous ameloblastoma. The treatment of choice was surgical removal. In the postoperative evaluation the dog presented dehiscence of the suture and underwent reintervention to perform a new suture. In the immediate postoperative period, the animal remained active. Although adult dogs, of medium to large size, are the most affected by this type of tumor, this work demonstrates that small breeds can also develop the disease. The location of the tumor reported here also differs from that commonly reported in the literature. The full recovery of patients affected by acanthomatous ameloblastoma will depend on the ability to perform an appropriate clinical-surgical approach, seeking excision of the tumor with free margins and correct postoperative follow-up

    Screening of Germplasm Accessions for Breeding Programme Specific to Mulberry Fruit Production

    The present study evaluates the screening of germplasm accession for breeding programme specific with mulberry fruit production. Mulberry plants are heterozygous species due to their wide range of character differences and capacity to adapt to cross-pollination in the absence of inter-specific reproductive barriers. Since every plant in a natural population is unique, it is challenging to compile data and conduct research on how various edaphic conditions affect the expression of genotypic features in order to assess variations. In lieu of this known diversity for posterity, the collection of mulberry genotypes from diverse genetic sources, their conservation, evaluation and consequent documentation is of prime importance. In the present study, 71 mulberry accessions were characterized for morphology, reproductive and 37 fruit parameters. Based on multiple trait analysis, 14 top performing accessions viz., Mysore local, MI-11 and MI-012, ME-182, S-34, S-1635, MI-143, MI-47, MI-04, MI-79, Srinagar local, MI-231, China white, MI-07, MI-524, M. laevigata, M5, C-20, ME-224, MI-231, ME-185, ME-65, China white were identified. These accessions could serve as resources for further evaluation aimed at trait-specific crop improvement

    Identification of Concrete Crack Using Deep Learning Based Approach

    Cracks reflect the safety and durability of concrete structures, and the existing artificial crack detection has the disadvantages of low efficiency and large error. However, the use of deep learning of images to identify cracks has the advantages of high efficiency, small error and low cost. This paper systematically discusses the deep learning in the identification of concrete structure cracks, expounds the deep learning technology, studies the SqueezeNet network model and YOLO (You Only Look Once) network model in the field of concrete structure crack identification, and improves the model according to the test results. In this paper, the classification accuracy based on crack trend is improved by increasing the width and depth of the Fire module of the SqueezeNet network. Secondly, the target detection accuracy is improved by the transfer learning of the YOLO model. The results show that the classification accuracy of the improved SqueezeNet model is more than 82% and the recognition accuracy of YOLO model is more than 92%

    Diagnostic and Surgico-therapeutic Management of Perineal Tumour in Dogs

    The benign perianal tumour form comprises more than 80% and is third most common tumour in male dogs. The present study was planned to record the cases of perineal tumour, their diagnosis and management. Their age, sex, breed, size of tumour and clinical history were recorded. Clinical, physical, radiographic and ultrasonographic examination of affected dogs were also done accordingly. In uncastrated male dogs first castration was done 2-4 weeks before excision of tumour via open prescrotal castration method. Corrective surgery was performed for tumour excision in 9 dogs under general anaesthesia as per the standard technique. Two dogs diagnosed with venereal granuloma, were treated by using the  chemotherapeutic protocol. During the study of perineal affection, 11 cases of perineal tumour were recorded in intact male dogs. Indian Spitz breed was most commonly affected followed by other breeds. Varying size of perineal tumours were recorded along with anorexia, faecal and urinary incontinence. Radiographic examination and  Ultrasonography were also done to determine the nature and extent of perineal swelling for accurate removable of growth without any complications. In the haematological studies, there was significant decrease in neutrophil and increase in lymphocyte and monocyte count. Biochemical parameters indicated a non-significant decline. In cytological and histopathological analysis, it was confirmed that 5 dogs had perianal adenoma, 2 had perianal epithelioma, 2 had venereal granuloma, 1 had anal gland adenoma and 1 had adenocarcinoma. Perianal adenoma could be managed successfully by surgical excision with castration. Venereal granuloma growth in perineal region could be corrected successfully with chemotherapeutic protocol with good outcome

    Performance Evaluation of Delonix regia Sawdust as Cement Retarder in Oil and Gas Well

    Sawdust, a byproduct of wood exploitation and processing, poses environmental pollution risks if not managed appropriately. Its substantial carbon footprint can lead to pollution, habitat disruption, and fire hazards. However, repurposing sawdust as a chemical additive in cement slurry within the oil and gas industry offers an environmentally friendly solution. This practice aligns with sustainability goals, enhances cement slurry properties, promotes wellbore stability, and replaces more hazardous additives, thereby reducing environmental impact. This study is aimed at the production of a retarder (sodium lignin) from sawdust waste obtained from the Delonix regia species, and examining its effect on the thickening time/consistency, compressive strength, and rheological properties on the slurry of a Class G cement At a Bottom Hole Circulating Temperature (BHCT) of 90°C, thickening time tests conducted on the slurry samples revealed that as the concentration of the locally synthesized retarder increases, the thickening time of the concrete also increases, with minimal effect on compressive strength. The optimal thickening time result of 6 hours and 13 minutes was achieved with 0.5% Sodium Lignin (Retarder from Delonix regia sawdust) replacing a portion of the cement. At a bottomhole static temperature (BHST) of 100°C, increasing the concentration of the formulated sample led to higher Plastic Viscosities (PV) and yield points in the slurries. The findings indicate that slurries formulated with sodium lignin maintain viscosities within recommended values, making them suitable for pumping

    Blackgram (Vigna mungo L.), the most important pulse crop is grown throughout India. The productivity of blackgram in India is relatively low compared to the world\u27s average productivity. Nowadays for improving productivity foliar spraying of nutrients plays a major role. The available synthetic formulations for foliar spraying are polluting and highly expensive. Hence, the leaf extracts of tropical trees can be utilized as an alternative source since they have enormous bioactive compounds able to stimulate plant growth and improve productivity without any harmful effects. Therefore, the present study was conducted on a sandy loam farm of The Indian Agriculture College, Radhapuram from March 2023 to May 2023 to evaluate the effect of leaf extracts like Moringa oleifera (Moringa), Annona squamosa (Custard apple) and Nerium oleander (Nerium) at different concentration viz., 5% and 10% on cultivation of blackgram crop, variety VBN 8. The results revealed that foliar spraying of Moringa oleifera leaf extract @ 10% + RDF significantly improves the growth components like plant height (27.87 cm and 34.6 cm at 35 DAS and 50 DAS respectively), LAI (2.87 and 4.06 at 35 DAS and 50 DAS respectively), dry matter accumulation (141 g/m2 and 266 g/m2 at 35 DAS and 50 DAS respectively), Crop growth rate (5.77 and 8.33 g/m2/day at 20 to 35 DAS, 35 to 50 DAS respectively), Relative Growth Rate (0.064, 0.042 g/g/day at 20 to 35 DAS, 35 to 50 DAS respectively) and yield attribute like average number of pods per plant (36.9) and seed yield (648 kg/ha) over other treatments and it was on par with RDF + Foliar application of Custard apple leaf extract @ 10%

    The silkworm Bombyx mori.L. is infected by various diseases viz; grasserie, flacherie, muscardine, and pebrine. Among all these diseases the grasserie causes major economic loss to the industry and is one of the main reasons for low silk productivity. It is caused by a virus known as Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedro virus (BmNPV). The impact of grasserie disease on silkworms is significant as it leads to reduced silk production and can result in economic losses for sericulture farmers. In India greater than 50% of silk cocoon crop loss is due to BmNPV [1] and in Kashmir valley, the loss is about 28-32% [2]. Silk obtained from the cocoons of silkworm Bombyx mori L. is a natural fibrous protein well known for being lightweight, having high mechanical strength, good flexibility, and luster making it ideal for the textile industry. In addition, fibroin extracted from the cocoons of domesticated silkworm Bombyx mori L. has gained growingly interest due to its excellent mechanical properties and high biocompatibility, biodegradability, inexpensiveness, and preparation flexibility [3]. These properties of silk fibroin lead to the formulation of fibroin nanoparticles (FNP’-s) which can be used to encapsulate different types of therapeutic compounds like proteins, vaccines, enzymes, etc. Fibroin has been approved as a biomaterial by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and has been popularly used in numerous medical applications such as sutures, tissue regeneration, coating devices, and drug delivery systems [4]. It has been studied that SF-derived curcumin nanoparticles show higher efficacy against breast cancer cells and have the potential to treat in vivo breast tumors by local, sustained, and long-term therapeutic delivery as a biodegradable system [5].
