Groundwater residence time and paleohydrology in the Baltic Artesian Basin (BAB): Isotope geochemical data
Get PDF<p>Sedimentary sequences in the northern part of the Baltic Artesian Basin (BAB) contain palaeogroundwaters that originate from meltwaters of continental glaciers that covered the area in Pleistocene. These waters are characterized by very light isotopic composition (δ18O values from −14 to −23‰) that is strongly depleted with respect to modern precipitation in the area (annual weighted mean δ 18O value of ≈−10 to −11‰). Kõrghariduse rahastusmudelid ja nende tulevikukindlus
No full text<p>Käesolev aruanne on valminud Arenguseire Keskuse "Kõrghariduse tulevik" uurimissuuna raames. Inimkapitali roll teadmistepõhises majanduses on pannud kõrghariduse rahastamise mitte ainult akadeemiliste arutelude keskmesse (Durazzi, 2018), vaid toonud ka sisse kaks maailmavaateliselt eristuvat ja konkureerivat vaadet kõrgharidusele – kas kõrghariduses on primaarne majanduslik tulemuslikkus või sotsiaalne kaasatus ning laialdane ligipääsetavus (võrdsus)? </p><p>Aruanne adresseerib Eesti ülikoolide rahastamise erinevaid teemasid. Aruanne jaguneb nelja peatüki vahel. Esimene peatükk annab lühiülevaate Eesti kõrgharidusõppe hetkeseisust. Teine peatükk vaatleb kõrgharidust kui inimressurssi väärindavat tehnoloogiat, mis annab võimaluse inimkapitali tekkeks ning tulemuslikuks rakendumiseks majanduses. Kolmas peatükk otsib vastust küsimusele, millised on alternatiivsed kõrghariduse rahastamise mudelid – ehk nõudluse ja pakkumispoolsed rahastamise mehhanismid – ja milline on Eesti positsioon nendes võrreldes teiste meile oluliste riikidega. Viimane peatükk suunab pilgu tulevikku ning kirjeldab arenguid, mis lähema 10-15 aasta perspektiivis on kõrgharidusõpet ümber kujundamas.</p><p>Aruandes kasutatakse peaasjalikult teiseseid andmeid. Lisaks akadeemilisele kirjandusele ning valdkondlikele ülevaatedokumentidele, tuginetakse ka Eurydice'i, EUROSTUDENTi, Eurostati, OECD, Statistikameti ning Haridus- ja Teadusministeeriumi andmestikele. Metoodiliselt toetutakse peamiselt kirjeldava statistika aparatuurile. Inimkapitali akumulatsiooni optimeerimisel rakendatakse kahevõrrandilise süsteemi piirangutega optimeerimist teaduskirjanduse analüüsil tuginevatel parameetrilistel eeldustel. </p>

No full text<p>The fiber orientation distributions in short fiber reinforced concrete test specimen according to EN 14651 are simulated by use of Computational Fluid Dynamics and compared for different flowabilities of the concrete mass. To estimate their influence, some possible deviations from the prescribed casting method are simulated. The simulations show that the final fiber orientation distribution may significantly vary.</p><p> </p>

Comparison of the carbon nanofiber-/fiber and silicone-based electrodes for bioimpedance measurements
No full text<p>Electrodes for bioimpedance measurements remain a challenge. In practice, commercially available nonpolarizable silver/silver chloride (Ag/AgCl) gel electrodes prove to be the best option for bioimpedance-based testing. The hydrogel layer reduces the problematic electrode-skin interface impedance, which results in a highly reliable signal. Our workgroup is developing a wearable device that estimates aortic blood pressure from the bioimpedance taken from the wrist area. Understandably, wet electrodes do not suit for a wearable, and there is a need for dry, soft, reusable, and stable electrodes. This study proposes stretchable carbon nanofiber/carbon fiber silicone electrodes as an alternative for cardiac signal measurements with bioimpedance.</p><p>2022 IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (I2MTC) Ottawa, ON, Canada.</p><p>Presented by Mart Min, May 17, 2022.</p>

No full text<p>Töö käigus analüüsiti mere süvakihtide temperatuuri, soolsuse ja hoovuste muutlikkust, et hinnata Eesti territoriaalmere soojusenergia potentsiaali ja selle kasutamisel tekkida võivaid mõjusid merekeskkonnale. Keskenduti piirkondadele, kus vee sügavus on suurem kui 45 m ning kuhu veesamba talvine jahtumine otseselt ei ulatu, ja mis on seega potentsiaalsed geotermaalenergia allikad.</p>
