    DATA COLLECTION TO IDENTIFY STUDENTS AT RISK OF NOT COMPLETING A COURSE USING MACHINE LEARNING

    Abstract. One of the most important methods in the study of various subjects is the understanding at an early stage of the learning process on the part of both the teacher and the student that the student is in a risk group that will not complete the course successfully. Identifying this group of students at an early stage of learning increases the level of motivation of students to start studying well in time and can help the teacher individually determine which student needs help. Before identifying a group of students at risk of not completing the course successfully, an important part is to collect and prepare the necessary data (predictors) for teaching machine learning algorithms. Currently, this is necessary for both online and offline education. In the presented method of determining a group of students, various types of algorithms were used, where one of the best results of determining a group of students with risk and without risk was shown by Logistic Regression with a high AUC =0.8003. The SMOTE method was used in the work, which coped well with the problem of data imbalance of the "Pass" and "Not Pass" classes, while increasing the accuracy of the forecast for the minority class "Not Pass" by 11%. Using certain predictors of student performance, it is possible to derive additional information such as the level of interest in the lesson. the determination of the final score for the lesson, a certain category (A, B, C, D) of students with different characteristics and other indicators that contribute to the involvement of students in the lesson at the earliest stage of learning

    CODE-SWITCHING IN DIALOGUES AMONG YOUNG INDIVIDUALS FROM KAZAKHSTAN

    This research investigates the varieties and communicative purposes of codeswitching (CS) among the youth demographic in Kazakhstan. Centered around specific research questions, the researchers investigate the complex dynamics of CS within Kazakhstan's bilingual environment. Four young individuals studying abroad participated in a focus group interview, and the results showed a range of code-switching occurrences, from intra-sentential to tag-switching, and differing levels of ability to switch codes. There are various reasons why people switch codes, such as habit or choosing the best language for a conversation. Findings were discussed with a focus on the expressive and referential functions observed among young Kazakh adults. The comfort level of speakers in a given language and audience familiarity are factors that affect code- switching. The paper acknowledges its limits and proposes directions for future investigation, promoting the examination of other factors that may impact code - switching among young Kazakh adults

    Abstract. This paper explores the connection between the existence of illicit networks and the survival of the de facto states of the Republic of Transnistria and the Republic of Abkhazia. The paper argues that organized crime plays a dual role in the continuity of state and society in these regions, both supporting and hindering state-building and the attainment of a strong, independent state. The study first provides a brief overview of organized crime and its impact on state characteristics. It then delves into the characteristics of organized crime in Transnistria and Abkhazia separately to draw conclusions about their similarities and differences. Finally, the research examines the role of illicit activities in the survival of these de facto states. The findings suggest that the presence of illicit networks has significant implications for state survival and development in post-Soviet de facto states

    How young people choose University and Profession in Kazakhstan: factors influencing their Choice and Satisfaction with this Choice

    The selection of a university and a profession is a significant decision that has long-lasting effects on an individual's career path and personal satisfaction. Despite its importance, little research has been conducted on the correlation between factors that influence the university and profession choices of young people in Kazakhstan and their further level of satisfaction with those choices. This knowledge gap is a barrier to the development of tailored policies and programs to support young people in their educational and career aspirations. This thesis aims to address this gap by exploring the factors that shape young people's university and profession choices in Kazakhstan and their satisfaction levels. This research is important for understanding the educational and career aspirations of the younger generation in Kazakhstan and for designing effective policies and programs to enhance their educational and career outcomes. The quantitative data for the study was obtained through an online survey. The qualitative data was collected through interviews with students and consultation with a professional orientation specialist. The findings demonstrate that young people in Kazakhstan base their university and profession choices on various factors, including personal interests, parental expectations, perceived job opportunities and many other correlated factors. The study also reveals that satisfaction levels with university and professional choices vary among young people in Kazakhstan. Moreover, the study identifies several crucial factors that influence the satisfaction levels of young people with their university and profession choices, such as the availability of job opportunities, career growth prospects, and the level of social support received. Additionally, the study highlights the impact of sociocultural factors, such as gender, and financial matters on the university and professional choices and satisfaction levels of young people in Kazakhstan. This research contributes to the development of a more nuanced understanding of the university and professional choices of young people in Kazakhstan and provides insights into effective strategies to support their educational and career aspirations. The study highlights the need for tailored policies v and programs that consider the diverse range of factors that influence young people's university and profession choices and their satisfaction levels. Furthermore, the study emphasizes the need to address socio-cultural factors that may hinder or facilitate the educational and career aspirations of young people in Kazakhstan

    EXPLORING THE IMPACT OF MACHINE LEARNING ON KYC COMPLIANCE COSTS AND CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

    Abstract. The Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance process is a critical requirement for financial institutions to prevent money laundering, fraud, and terrorist financing. Machine learning algorithms have the potential to improve the efficiency and accuracy of KYC compliance checks. In this study, we explored the effectiveness of several classification algorithms for KYC compliance checks using a dataset with 3000 rows collected from a famous banking system in Kazakhstan. We compared the performance of four commonly used algorithms: Decision Tree, Random Forest, Logistic Regression, and Support Vector Machines. Our results showed that all four algorithms achieved high accuracy rates, with Random Forest performing the best, achieving an accuracy rate of 92.1%. These findings suggest that machine learning algorithms can effectively classify KYC checks, with Random Forest being the most effective algorithm in our study. This study provides further evidence of the potential of machine learning for KYC compliance checks in the banking industry, but also highlights the need for ongoing monitoring and validation of machine learning models and concerns about explainability and transparency

    Text recognition is one of the key tasks in the field of deep learning. In recent years, neural networks and deep learning have attracted increasing attention in the context of developing effective and accurate models for text recognition. This scientific dissertation explores the use of neural networks and the Python programming language to solve the problem of text recognition. First, an overview of existing methods and approaches to text recognition, including classical rule-based methods and traditional machine learning, is presented. The following is an implementation of text recognition using the TensorFlow library and the Python programming language. The principles of data preprocessing, including tokenization, vectorization and normalization, are described, Experiments are being conducted on various data sets, including handwritten text and text on images. Various hyperparameters of the model are investigated, such as the network architecture, the size of the hidden layer and the learning rate. Thus, this scientific dissertation confirms the importance and effectiveness of using neural networks and the Python programming language for the task of text recognition. This opens up prospects for further research and development in the field of text recognition and other natural language processing tasks

    This thesis analyzes the possibilities of UI/UX design solutions to improve the digital experiences of visually impaired people while also examining the effects of the Beta Career program on the daily lives of university students. The Beta Career program gives fourth-year students the chance to learn practical skills while avoiding typical university studies by giving them the opportunity to intern with industrial companies. The investigation into the Beta Career program’s transformative influence on students’ professional and academic growth comes first. It explains how the course fosters students’ development and equips them with the necessary skills for successful professions after graduation. The thesis also examines the advantages for universities, such as the chance to generate graduates with a year of work experience, improving their employability and bridging the gap between education and the working world. The thesis also discusses the difficulties that people with visual impairments encounter while interacting online and the value of using accessible design guidelines to enhance their web experiences. It draws attention to the potential of UI/UX design approaches to improve web accessibility and produce inclusive digital spaces. The study looks into how usability and readability of web content for those who are blind are affected by design factors including contrast, font size, and color selections. This thesis intends to improve visually impaired people’s digital experiences and advance inclusivity by incorporating UI/UX design solutions that address their unique needs and preferences. The results highlight the significance of uservl centered design and the necessity of working with users who are visually impaired to develop solutions that take into account their particular problems. This thesis concludes by highlighting the beneficial effects of the Beta Career program on students’ professional growth and by investigating the possibilities of UI/UX design solutions to enhance the digital experiences of those who are visually impaired. The study sheds light on the program’s transformative effects and emphasizes the nccd of using accessible design guidclincs when developing inclusive digital environments. This research supports an inclusive and equitable digital environment for people with visual impairments by prioritizing accessibility and embracing inclusive design techniques, supporting equal opportunities and boosting their engagement in the digital sphere
