GÖSTERİŞÇİ TÜKETİMİN BESİN TERCİHİNE ETKİSİNİN KUŞAKLAR BAĞLAMINDA İNCELENMESİ
Bu çalışma, gösterişçi tüketimin besin tercihi üzerindeki etkilerini kuşak farklılıkları çerçevesinde incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda X, Y ve Z kuşağından bireylerin besin tercihlerini etkileyen faktörler; aşinalık, doğal içerik, duygusal çekicilik, etik değerler, fiyat duyarlılığı, kilo kontrolü, kolaylık, ruh hali ve sağlık boyutlarında ele alınmıştır. Mevcut araştırmada nicel araştırma yöntemi tercih edilmiş ve veri toplama aracı olarak Google Formlar üzerinden oluşturulan çevrim içi anket formu kullanılmıştır. Katılımcılara çevrim içi ortamda ulaştırılan anketten toplamda 377 geri dönüş alınmıştır. Elde edilen veriler, araştırma sorularının yanıtlanması ve hipotezlerin test edilmesi amacıyla Kısmi En Küçük Kareler-Yapısal Eşitlik Modellemesi (KEKK-YEM) ve ANOVA gibi istatistiksel analiz teknikleriyle değerlendirilmiştir. Elde edilen bulgular doğrultusunda gösterişçi tüketim düzeyinin kuşaklar arasında anlamlı bir farklılık göstermediği ancak besin tercihine etki eden bazı alt boyutlarda kuşaklara göre anlamlı farklılıklar olduğu saptanmıştır. Özellikle ruh hali, duygusal çekicilik, etik değerler ve doğal içerik boyutlarında kuşaklar arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklar gözlemlenmiştir. Bu bulgular, farklı kuşakların besin tercihlerinde duygusal ve değer temelli faktörlere verdikleri önemin değiştiğini ortaya koymaktadır. Çalışma, beslenme alışkanlıklarına ait ürünlerin pazarlanması ve tüketici davranışları alanında kuşak temelli stratejilerin geliştirilmesi açısından önemli katkılar sunmaktadır.This study aims to examine the effects of conspicuous consumption on food preferences within the framework of generational differences. To this end, factors influencing the food preferences of individuals from the X, Y, and Z generations were examined in terms of familiarity, natural content, emotional appeal, ethical values, price sensitivity, weight control, convenience, mood, and health. In the current study, a quantitative research method was preferred, and an online survey form created using Google Forms was used as the data collection tool. A total of 377 responses were received from the survey distributed to participants online. The data obtained were evaluated using statistical analysis techniques such as Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modelling (PLS- SEM) and ANOVA to answer the research questions and test the hypotheses. Based on the findings, it was determined that there was no significant difference in the level of conspicuous consumption between generations, but there were significant differences between generations in some sub-dimensions that influence food preferences. Statistically significant differences were observed between generations, particularly in the dimensions of mood, emotional appeal, ethical values, and natural content. These findings reveal that different generations place varying importance on emotional and value-based factors in their food preferences. The study offers important contributions to the development of generation-based strategies in the field of nutrition habits and consumer behaviour

Introducing a learning tool (QSVI): A QGIS plugin for computing vegetation, chlorophyll, and thermal indices with remote sensing images
Remote sensing technology can be used to monitor environmental changes using satellite imagery. However, to obtain a more precise model, it is necessary to process high-resolution and multilayered data, which require high-capacity software. Commercial software is often difficult to access by students and researchers because of its high cost and complex interface. This paper introduces a plugin designed in open-source Quantum GIS (QGIS) software using Python, called QGIS Sentinel Vegetation Indices (QSVI). QSVI can quickly process and automatically calculate many environmental indices on a single platform. These included the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI), Atmospheric Resilient Vegetation Index (ARVI), Leaf Area Index (LAI), Chlorophyll Vegetation Index (CVI), Urban Thermal Field Variation Index (UTFVI), and Thermal Disturbance Index (TDI). The performance of QSVI was tested in the Sarıyer District of Istanbul, Türkiye. The results indicate that, for Sentinel-2 data, QSVI reduces processing time by an average of 2.1 min compared to common commercial software, such as ArcGIS, GRASS, and SAGA GIS. Sentinel-3 data were processed 13.6 s quicker than with the same software. The findings indicate that QSVI can be an alternative tool for researchers and students because of its easy accessibility and low cost. Because of its speed and simple interface, it can provide practical solutions for both researchers and students.</p
A novel and universal dual-functionalized Hazo-POPs@COOH-apt/PGE-based electrochemical biosensor for detection of aflatoxin M1 (AFM1) in raw milk sample: A versatile peroxidase-mimicking aptananozyme approach
A dual-functionalized electrochemical biosensor was developed for ultrasensitive detection of aflatoxin M1 (AFM1) in milk. AFM1, a hydroxylated derivative of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), poses significant health risks, including reduced liver function, stunted growth in children, and immunosuppression. With no FDA-approved decontamination methods, a point-of-care (POC) device for rapid and precise AFM1 detection is crucial. The electrochemical biosensor combines specificity from COOH-functionalized AFM1-Aptamer (COOH-Apt) and o-hydroxyazobenzene polymers (Hazo-POPs) as a nanozyme probe at pencil graphite electrode (PGE). Hazo-POPs exhibiting integrated electroactive potential and peroxidase-like activity, independently utilized for AFM1 detection. Hazo-POPs were characterized using XRD, FTIR, UV–Vis, DLS, Raman spectroscopy, and FESEM and BET. At the same time, PGE surface modification was analyzed through optical microscopy, contact angle measurement, FESEM, micro-CT, CV, and EIS. In method, I, PGE was modified with Hazo-POPs@COOH-Apt for an optimized electrochemical response. COOH-Apt immobilization (Hazo-POPs@COOH-Apt/PGE) exhibited increased current, whereas AFM1 incubation (Hazo-POPs@COOH-Apt/PGE/AFM1) blocked the electron transfer, leading to decreased current. Method II employed Hazo-POPs' peroxidase-like activity, measuring the DPV response of 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB), confirming aptananozyme (Hazo-POPs@COOH-Apt/PGE) specificity for AFM1. H2O2 generated hydroxyl radicals (°OH) in the presence of Hazo-POPs and TMB was oxidized to diimine by these radicals, leading to reduced TMB peak values, indicating oxidation. The electrochemical biosensor (Hazo-POPs@COOH-Apt/PGE) exhibited a broad linear range (0.005–500 nM) and low LOD (0.004 nM in method I; 0.003 nM in method II). Validated in spiked milk samples, it showed high recovery (101.21–104 %), exceptional sensitivity, reproducibility, and stability for three weeks
Bariatric Surgery in Adolescent Obesity: A Review of Current Evidence
Obesity is increasingly recognized as a significant health concern affecting not only adults but also younger populations, including children and adolescents. Type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, and hypertension, which are common in adults, are becoming increasingly prevalent in the pediatric population. The onset of these comorbidities at an early age will result in a significantly reduced life expectancy. The widespread nature of obesity in the pediatric population has led to the initiation of various treatments, including surgical interventions at an early age. Certain risks and benefits must be considered when considering surgical treatment in adolescents. In the decision-making process for bariatric surgery in adolescents, not only the potential health benefits and risks but also the ethical, psychological, and social dimensions must be carefully considered. While perioperative and postoperative psychological status changes and patient selection differ significantly from those in adult patients, outcomes after bariatric surgery are similar to those in adult patients. Bariatric surgery in adolescence may be considered among treatment options after the implementation of other therapeutic approaches by a multidisciplinary team, taking into account the adolescent's and family's lifestyle as well as long-term health outcomes. </p
Biyolojik Ritimler, Uyku Bozuklukları ve Kadın Ruh Sağlığı: Bir Psikiyatri Yatan Hasta Ünitesinden Bulgular
Amaç: Uyku ve sirkadiyen ritim bozuklukları, nöropsikiyatrik hastalıklarda yaygın olarak görülmekte ve semptom şiddeti, nüks oranları ve tedaviye yanıtsızlık ile ilişkilendirilmektedir. Kadınlar, biyolojik, sosyal ve psikolojik faktörler nedeniyle erkeklere kıyasla daha yüksek oranda uyku bozuklukları yaşamaktadır. Ancak, hastaneye yatırılan kadın psikiyatri hastalarında uyku sorunlarına ilişkin veriler sınırlıdır. Bu çalışma, kadın psikiyatri hastalarının yatış ve taburculuk sırasındaki uyku örüntülerini değerlendirmeyi ve uyku kalitesindeki değişimleri etkileyen faktörleri belirlemeyi amaçlamıştır. Yöntemler: Doksan kadın psikiyatri hastası, yatış ve taburculuk dönemlerinde Pittsburgh Uyku Kalitesi İndeksi, Epworth Uykululuk Ölçeği, İnsomni Şiddeti İndeksi ve Nöropsikiyatride Biyolojik Ritim Değerlendirme Görüşmesi kullanılarak değerlendirilmiştir. Sosyodemografik veriler, psikiyatrik tanılar ve tedavi detayları yapılandırılmış görüşmeler yoluyla toplanmıştır. Veriler SPSS 22.0 kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Bulgular: Yatış sırasında hastaların %87,8’i kötü uyku kalitesi bildirmiştir, bu oran taburculukta %63,3’e düşmüştür. İyileşmeye rağmen, önemli ölçüde uyku bozuklukları devam etmiştir. Taburculukta kötü uyku kalitesi, yüksek benzodiazepin kullanımı, işsizlik, ailede uyku bozukluğu öyküsü ve sık hastaneye yatış ile ilişkilendirilmiştir. Psikiyatrik tanılar arasında anlamlı bir fark bulunmamıştır. Yaş, uyku ilacı kullanımı ile pozitif korelasyon göstermiştir. Sirkadiyen ritim bozuklukları, kötü uyku kalitesi ve artmış insomni şiddeti ile güçlü bir şekilde ilişkilendirilmiştir. Sonuç: Kadın psikiyatri hastalarında uyku bozuklukları tedaviye rağmen devam etmekte ve sosyodemografik, klinik ve sirkadiyen ritim faktörlerinden etkilenmektedir. Biyolojik, psikolojik ve sosyal katkıları hedefleyen, cinsiyete özgü müdahaleler, tedavi sonuçlarını iyileştirebilir, hastaneye yatışları azaltabilir ve psikiyatri servislerindeki hasta bakımını güçlendirebilir.Objective: Sleep and circadian rhythm disruptions are common in neuropsychiatric disorders, correlating with symptom severity, relapse rates, and poor treatment response. Women experience higher rates of sleep disturbances than men due to biological, social, and psychological factors. However, data on sleep issues in hospitalized female psychiatric patients remain limited. This study assessed sleep patterns in female psychiatric inpatients at admission and discharge and identified factors influencing changes in sleep quality. Methods: Ninety female psychiatric inpatients were evaluated using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, Epworth Sleepiness Scale, Insomnia Severity Index and Biological Rhythm Interview of Assessment in Neuropsychiatry at both admission and discharge. Sociodemographic data, psychiatric diagnoses, and treatment details were collected through structured interviews. Data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0. Results: At admission, 87.8% of patients reported poor sleep quality, which decreased to 63.3% at discharge. Despite improvement, significant sleep disturbances persisted. Poor sleep quality at discharge was associated with higher benzodiazepine use, unemployment, family history of sleep disorders, and frequent hospitalizations. No significant differences were found across psychiatric diagnoses. Age correlated positively with sleep medication use. Disruptions in circadian rhythms were strongly linked to poorer sleep quality and higher insomnia severity. Conclusion: Sleep disturbances persist in female psychiatric inpatients despite treatment and are influenced by sociodemographic, clinical, and circadian rhythm factors. Targeted, gender-specific interventions addressing biological, psychological, and social contributors, including circadian irregularities, may improve treatment outcomes, reduce hospitalizations, and enhance patient care in psychiatric settings
Evaluation of Pan-Immune-Inflammation Value (PIV) as a Predictive Biomarker for Psoriatic Arthritis in Patients with Psoriasis
Objective: Psoriasis (PsO) is a chronic inflammatory dermatosis that affects a significant portion of the global population and is associated with various comorbidities, including psoriatic arthritis (PsA). PsA develops in 20–30% of psoriasis patients and significantly impacts patient quality of life. Currently, early detection of PsA remains challenging, with no reliable, non-invasive biomarker for risk assessment. This study aims to evaluate the utility of pan-immune-inflammation value (PIV), along with other inflammatory indices, in predicting the development of PsA in patients with PsO. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 101 psoriasis patients (51 PsO, 50 PsA). Hematological parameters, including neutrophil, lymphocyte, monocyte, and platelet counts, were collected, and various inflammatory indices (PIV, SIRI, SII, NLR) were calculated. The diagnostic performance of these indices was assessed using Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve analysis. As a retrospective, double-center study with a limited sample size, the findings should be interpreted with caution and validated in larger, prospective cohorts. Results: The study found significant differences between PsA and PsO patients in terms of inflammatory indices, with higher PIV, SII, SIRI, and NLR levels observed in PsA patients. The diagnostic performance of PIV (AUC 0.63), SII (AUC 0.70), SIRI (AUC 0.64), and NLR (AUC 0.71) indicated that elevated levels of these indices could serve as potential markers for PsA risk. Additionally, PIV was significantly correlated with SII, SIRI, and NLR levels. Conclusion: PIV and other inflammatory indices, particularly NLR and SII, show promise as biomarkers for predicting the onset of PsA in patients with PsO. These findings may aid in early identification and timely intervention for PsA, improving patient outcomes and informing treatment strategies
Determination of the prevalence of complete type retrotransverse and arcuate foramen of the atlas using three-dimensional computed tomography images
PURPOSE: To determine the prevalence of complete type retrotransverse (RTF) and arcuate foramen (AF)'s in a large cohort using three-dimensional (3D) computed images (CT) and explore their correlation with each other. METHODS: Between January 2023 and August 2024, all neck and cervical vertebrae CTs taken in our hospital were scanned retrospectively. It is noted the presence or absence of complete RTF and AF, laterality, gender, and age of those included in the study. RESULTS: A total of 2000 patients were included in the study, with an equal distribution of females and males. The prevalence of complete AF was 6.4%, 10%, and 16.3% bilaterally, unilaterally, and in total. The prevalence of complete AF was 12% in females and 20.6% in males. The gender prevalence differences of bilateral AF were statistically significant (p < 0.001). The prevalence of complete RTF was 1.8%, 8.9%, and 10.6% bilaterally, unilaterally, and in total. The prevalence of complete RTF was 9.7% in females, and 11.6% in males. The prevalence differences between genders were insignificant (p = 0.173). The ipsilateral prevalence of complete AF and RTF was 0.2%, 0.2%, and 0.4%, respectively, bilateral, unilateral right, and unilateral left. CONCLUSIONS: The complete AF and RTF prevalences in the study group were not uncommon. The prevalence of complete AF and RTF together is quite rare. Complete RTF is more common in elderly patients and on the left side, while complete AF does not show any difference in laterality and age, and is more common in males than in females
