Advanced predictive modelling of electric quadrupole transitions in even-even nuclei using various machine learning approaches
Empirical predictions of electric quadrupole transition probabilities, B (E2; 0⁺→2⁺), in even-even nuclei, are among the principles needed to solve the nuclear structure and collective behaviour. In this study, nine different ML algorithms, gradient boosting machine (GBM), random forest (RF), convolutional neural network (CNN), k-nearest neighbour (KNN), CatBoost, extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost), neural network (NN), support vector machine (SVM) and multiple linear regression (MLR), are evaluated as a different data-driven solution for the prediction of B(E2) values. The outcomes show that ensemble models, in particular GBMs, RF, and XGBoost, provide vastly improved predictive capabilities and generalizing influence while creating strong correlations to experimental data with small prediction errors. On the other hand, deep learning models such as CNN and NN is prone to overfitting, while simpler ones such as MLR and KNN fail to capture the non-linear relationships inherent in nuclear data. The findings underscore the promise of ensemble ML tools for nuclear physics in a scalable, accurate approach for predicting transition probabilities

The Relationship Between Attitude Towards Diet Therapy and Social Support in Hemodialysis Patients Hemodiyaliz Hastalarının Diyet Tedavisine Yönelik Tutumları ile Algıladıkları Sosyal Destek Arasındaki İlişki
Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between hemodialysis patients' attitudes towards diet therapy and their perceived social support. Materials and Methods: This descriptive and analytical study was conducted with 180 patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment at hospitals in a single province, who met the inclusion criteria. The study data were collected using the Patient Identification Form, Hemodialysis Patients' Attitudes Towards Diet Therapy Scale and Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support. Descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test, ANOVA test, and Pearson correlation analysis were used in the analysis of data. Results: The mean total score of the Attitude Toward Diet Therapy Scale was 43.94±11.67 while the mean total score of the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support was 48.03±17.67. Female patients, those aged 60 and above, and illiterate individuals had significantly lower scores on the Attitude Toward Diet Therapy Scale. A strong, statistically significant positive correlation was found between attitudes towards diet therapy and perceived social support (r = 0.771, p < 0.001), as well as across all sub-dimensions (r = 0.768, 0.755, 0.746; p < 0.001). Conclusion: The study concluded that hemodialysis patients generally exhibited moderate attitudes toward diet therapy and that a strong positive relationship exists between these attitudes and their perceived levels of social support. Strengthening patients' social support systems may promote more favorable attitudes toward diet therapy, which is a key component of effective disease management
Exploring the anti-inflammatory activity of boron compounds through the miR-21/PTEN/AKT pathway in cecal ligation and puncture-induced sepsis
The present study investigated the impact of boric acid (BA) and borax (BX) on markers of inflammation and modifications in miR-21/PTEN/AKT pathway genes in the liver and kidney tissues of Sprague Dawley male rats with sepsis induced by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP). A total of 60 male Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into 6 groups, each containing 10 animals as follows: Control, CLP (where the model was created), 20 mg/kg BX (CLP + BX1), 40 mg/kg BX (CLP + BX2), 20 mg/kg BA (CLP + BA1) and 40 mg/kg BA (CLP + BA2). Liver and kidney tissues were analyzed for histopathological changes, immunopositivity for tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin (IL)-6 and IL-10, and gene expression of microRNA-21 (miR-21), phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) and AKT. Gene expression analysis in the liver tissues revealed a significant decrease in miR-21, and a marked but not significant decrease in PTEN levels in the CLP group, while AKT expression was significantly increased in the CLP group, and was significantly decreased in CLP + BA1 group compared with in the CLP group. In the kidney tissues, miR-21 levels were significantly decreased in the CLP group, but the CLP + BA2 group showed a significant increase compared with in the CLP group. These results suggest the potential therapeutic benefits of low-dose BA and BX in ameliorating sepsis-induced tissue damage, emphasizing the need for further exploration of their mechanisms of action
The effects of the magnetic and non-resonant intense laser fields on the electronic and optical properties of the shifted Deng–Fan type quantum well
The aim of this study is to examine how the magnetic field, the non-resonant intense laser field, and the well sizes affect the energy spectrum and intraband transitions of electrons confined within a quantum well modeled with a shifted Deng–Fan molecular potential. The calculations were performed within the effective mass and parabolic band approximation frameworks. These investigations have involved analyzing the energy spectrum and determining both the linear and third-order nonlinear absorption coefficients. To obtain the solution of the Schrödinger equation for the system, the diagonalization technique was applied using a set of orthonormal basis functions. The calculation of the absorption coefficients both linear and third-order nonlinear components were carried out using the conventional density matrix approach in conjunction with the perturbative expansion method. Our results reveal critical tunability of the optical absorption characteristics through well size, magnetic field strength, and intense laser field parameters.</p
GÖMÜLÜ DAİMİ SOL ÜST SANTRAL DİŞİN GROPER APAREYİ YARDIMIYLASÜRDÜRÜLMESİ: VAKA RAPORU
A 9-year-old female patient presented to our clinic with a chief complaint ofmissing tooth. Intraoral examination revealed that the permanent maxillary left central incisor hadnot erupted. In the patient's anamnesis, it was learned that she had experienced dental trauma atthe age of 4 after hitting her tooth on the edge of a coffee table. A panoramic radiograph and aperiapical radiograph of the maxillary anterior region were obtained. Radiographic evaluationrevealed that the maxillary left central incisor was impacted and that root development wasincomplete.It was decided to fabricate a Groper appliance for the patient. After informing theparents about the treatment plan, informed consent was obtained. Impressions of the maxillaryarch were taken using molar bands and sent to the dental laboratory for appliance fabrication. Oneweek later, the patient was recalled to the clinic, and the appliance was tried in and cemented usingglass ionomer cement. The patient was given oral hygiene instructions and was advised to report tothe clinic in case of any complications.One month later, the patient returned to the clinic due toappliance breakage. Clinical and radiographic examinations revealed that the impacted tooth hadbegun to erupt. Therefore, no new appliance was fabricated, and it was decided to monitor theeruption process with regular follow-ups.</p
