Les restaurations prothétiques adhésives sur substrat dentaire amoindri. Est-il possible de s’affranchir complètement de l’ancrage radiculaire en prothèse adhésive ? Revue Systématique de la littérature

    No full text
This study investigates whether adhesive restoration on dentin is preferable to the use of a post for severely compromised teeth with reduced crown height. In the absence of direct comparative studies, a systematic review of in vitro studies was conducted to assess the durability of dentin bonding. Methodology: in accordance with PRISMA guidelines, 39 articles selected from PubMed and Scopus were analyzed. Results: the in vitro performance of dentin bonding depends on the resistance test employed, the adhesive system used, and the aging process applied to the samples. Universal adhesive systems show good long-term resistance, even after one year of storage in aqueous media. Discussion: the in vitro data on dentin are promising, although protocol variability limits comparability. For teeth with a ferrule, the use of a post appears unnecessary. However, for teeth without a ferrule, adhesive restorations provide a conservative treatment option that preserves pulp vitality. Various factors should be considered, such as the presence of an enamel margin, any parafunctional habits of the patient, the occlusal situation of the tooth to be restored, the remaining crown height and the condition of the dental tissues. Conclusion: the durability of dentin bonding is favorable, despite the lack of standardized testing protocols. The use of a post can potentially be avoided when a ferrule effect is present. For cases without a ferrule, additional in vitro and in vivo studies are needed to assess the reliability of composite core and endo-crown techniques.

International audienceThe “Failles haïtiennes” workshop place on November 16 and 17, 2023 at Sciences Po Bordeaux (on the Pessac campus). These days were organized by the Les Afriques dans le Monde laboratory (LAM, UMR 5115) and the ANR OSMOSE (tOward a multi-stakeholder Socio-seisMological Observation network for Seismic risk rEduction in Haiti) directed by Eric Calais. OSMOSE is an interdisciplinary socioseismology project that brings together researchers in Haiti and France around the theme of earthquakes. Several disciplines are represented: seismologists, geologists, philosophers, sociologists, anthropologists... Following the fruitful exchanges, we proposed to the speakers to publish their interventions in “Actes”. They reworked what they had to say, and you can now read their work (summary below). We have restored the order of the sessions and speakers in this online issue.Les journées d'étude « Failles haïtiennes » ont eu lieu le 16 et 17 novembre 2023 à Sciences Po Bordeaux (sur le campus de Pessac). Cognitive remediation in breast cancer survivors: A study protocol

    No full text
International audienceCancer treatment-related cognitive impairment, also known as “Chemobrain,” is frequently reported among cancer survivors. This condition can persist for months after the end of cancer treatment and can affect various aspects of a patients' quality of life. Despite growing evidence, research into effective treatments remains an emerging field. This project aims to assess the effectiveness of a cognitive remediation protocol called Oncogite in reducing cancer treatment-related cognitive impairment. The primary outcomes are self-reported functional and emotional well-being. The secondary outcomes include measures of executive function (working memory, inhibition, shifting), episodic memory, perceived cognitive function and perceived quality of life. One hundred sixty-four breast cancer survivors will be recruited from an existing cohort. Patients will be randomized to either a cognitive remediation group or a no intervention group. Participation in the workshops will be via videoconferencing, led by a neuropsychologist. Patients in the experimental group will also have access to an internet platform with the exercises practiced between the group workshops. The intervention will last four months at a rate of one workshop per week. The following data will be collected: emotional and functional well-being, neurocognitive performance, switching, inhibition, cognitive complaints, episodic memory, fatigue and depression. We will conclude that the intervention is effective if there is 4-month improvement in both emotional and functional well-being to find in the experimental group in their cognitive functioning. This research will contribute to the development of new clinical tools for cancer treatment-related cognitive impairment and facilitate the return to work in cancer survivors

Psychology of Debt in Rural South India

    No full text
International audienceThis study is the first attempt to examine the extent to which the Big Five personality traits and cognitive skills (Raven scores, numeracy, and literacy scores) are correlated with debt negotiation and debt management in a Global South country; and how social identity – in particular caste and gender – channels the effect of cognition on debt outcomes. Using a panel dataset built from an original household survey (called NEEMSIS) conducted in 2016–2017 and 2020–2021 in rural Tamil Nadu, India, and employing multivariate correlation probit analysis with lagged variables, we find the following. Firstly, conscientiousness is an advantage in the negotiation and management of debt, particularly for non-Dalit women, suggesting that, in a rural patriarchal context, women leverage personality traits to overcome the constraints of social identity. Secondly, emotional stability is a disadvantage in both debt negotiation and management. Thirdly, the role of cognition and in particular the Raven score is ambiguous

Landscape archaeology of the Chuchuwayha sacred site (British Colombia, Canada)

International audienceNew research is being conducted at the Chuchuwayha sacred site (British Columbia, Canada) at the request of the Upper Similkameen Indian Band, who want to pass on the site's history to future generations. The project's aims were to determine when this site in the glacial Similkameen Valley became accessible to human communities, to reconstruct the formation of the surrounding landscape, and to describe the rock shelter's evolution during the period of human frequentation (rock art). To this end, we combined geomorphological, archaeometric, and geochemical (cosmogenic dating) data to construct a robust chronological framework for the site's evolution and human occupations. Results showed that the Similkameen Valley became ice‐free 18,000 years ago, that the site's morphology was shaped by postglacial processes, and that its general topography had formed around 7000 years ago. The site's morphology—a rock shelter behind a mound of rockfall boulders—created a trap for eolian and autochthonous sediments, which have preserved a record of human occupations. Our multidisciplinary approach also enabled us to determine age ranges for the shelter's paintings, to draw up a new time frame for human occupations of the site, which lies on a traditional Syilx trail, and to relate these occupations to changes in the surrounding landscape
