    No full text
International audienceBased on an analysis of the agricultural settlement trajectories of foreign families from Northern and Western Europe in 2 sparsely populated French areas, this paper discusses the category of privileged migration in order to characterise an original social type. The latter is based on the combination of precariousness and privilege. International migration, coupled with settlements in agriculture, results in a biographical break that leads to a form of precariousness, understood as financial and social risk-taking. This risk is nevertheless accepted or even chosen, as migration is part of an aspiration to downshifting (Larsson, 2015). Settlement is based on a set of previously acquired capitals, which endow these individuals with a certain number of privileges, compounded by the context of the rural areas where they settle in. The discourse and practices of lifestyle farmers, added to the characterization of forms of precarity, ultimately lead us to put the idea of precarity into perspective. The new social situation appears to be the corollary of the new way of life, itself considered as a form of privilege, more specifically in terms of downshifting.À partir d’une analyse des trajectoires d’installation en agriculture de familles étrangères originaires d’Europe du Nord et de l’Ouest, dans deux territoires ruraux français, l’article discute de l’usage de la catégorie de « migrations privilégiées » pour caractériser un type social original.

    No full text
International audienceEuromaidan marked the beginning of a new period in the post-Soviet history of Ukraine and led to significant political changes. The article reveals the ideological meaning of Euromaidan and its influence on the Ukrainian national narrative and collective memory. Memory laws, the national calendar of holidays, and commemorative dates that were established or transformed after the events of 2013–2014, also known as the Revolution of Dignity, were used as primary sources for this study. Social perception of the ideological transformation of Ukraine is studied on the basis of oral sources—interviews with Ukrainians conducted in 2022–2023. The methodological basis of the study derives from the approach of Pierre Nora, proposed in the book Les lieux de mémoire (Sites of memory). Euromaidan is seen as a “site of memory” for the Ukrainian nation. When analyzing memory laws, the works of Nikolay Koposov and Georgiy Kasianov are used as a methodological tool. The changes in collective memory caused by Euromaidan have several aspects: decommunization, a shift of the national narrative “to the right,” and the formation of new symbols. The analysis of these aspects helps to reveal the nature of the Ukrainian political regime that emerged in 2014, as well as the ideological roots of the sentiments that spread after Euromaidan. The article examines the cultural appropriation by Ukrainians of some far-right symbols, such as Stepan Bandera’s slogan, “Glory to Ukraine, Glory to the Heroes!” In fact, Ukrainians’ reasoning and explanations call into question the assumptions about their right-wing, nationalist sentiments. The article shows how important the legacy of Euromaidan is for the formation of the resistance of the Ukrainian nation in the current military confrontation with Russia

    No full text

Effects of a personalized or generic three-dimensional tumoral kidney model on patient experience and caregiver-patient interactions, before and after partial nephrectomy, a randomized trial (Rein 3D Print Personalize—UroCCR 114)

    No full text
International audienceIntroduction. Personalized 3D-printed kidney models could serve as valuable educational tools for patients undergoing robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN). These models facilitate patients’ understanding of their pathology, surgical procedure, and anatomy. However, the costs associated with ‘personalized’ printing remain a barrier to their use. This study aims to thoroughly investigate the benefits of using a personalized 3D-printed kidney model as opposed to a generic 3D-printed kidney model as an educational tool for patients and as a communication tool for healthcare professionals. Methods and analysis. In this prospective single center study, 60 patients undergoing RAPN will be randomized to receive information based on their personalized 3D-printed tumoral kidney model or a generic 3D-printed tumoral kidney model. These models will accompany patients throughout their care pathway, from pre-operative consultations to the post-operative visit. The impact of these models on the management approaches of various healthcare professionals will also be examined. The data will be collected and analyzed using a mixed method, combining interviews (with patients and caregivers), observations during the presentation of the models and questionnaires (understanding of their pathology and the surgical procedure, Health-literacy, satisfaction). Discussion. Three dimensional kidney models have the potential to play a central role in the preoperative information process and serve as an effective educational tool during the patient’s social interactions with relatives and healthcare professionals. This study will evaluate the potential advantages of personalized 3D models of tumoral kidneys compared to their generic counterparts. Trial registration. The PERSONALIZE study was registered on ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT06379698) on the 5th of September 2023

Unveiling Roots: From the Swartland Revolution to the Pioneers of the Natural Wine Movement in South Africa

    No full text
International audienceThe emergence of the natural wine movement in South Africa remains an underexplored narrative. This movement’s local origins stem from a shift where winemakers, breaking free from the cooperative system, invested in neglected regions like the Swartland to experiment with innovative viticulture and winemaking techniques, diverging from conventional methods. While the roots of the movement can be traced to Swartland, South African natural winemakers also draw on global knowledge and narratives. This article retraces the factors that fostered the local natural wine movement and explores how it navigates the industry to establish a distinct identity and ensure commercial viability
