    Evaluation of online learning in Natural Science for junior high school

    This research aims to evaluate the online learning system in natural science subject for the junior high school level in Yogyakarta. This research uses CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product). The research subjects are two school principals, five natural science teachers, and 267 grade VII, VIII, and IX students in State Junior High School (sekolah menengah pertama negeri or SMPN) 9 Yogyakarta and Nurul Ummah Islamic Junior High School (Madrasah Tsanawiyah or MTs), Kotagede, Yogyakarta. Data were collected through questionnaires and interview guidelines validated through the process of expert judgment to prove the construct validity using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA). The instrument\u27s reliability was analyzed using Alpha Cronbach, while the results were analyzed using the qualitative descriptive method. According to the context aspect, the results of this research are in the form of online school program objectives to meet the needs of flexibility, ideal operational technology tools, and the professionalism of Natural Science teachers in practicum activities considered in the fairly good category. According to the input context, the results are in the form of an online system supported by the internet access facility and the scheduling, procedure, and capabilities of Natural Science teachers, considered in the good category. According to the process aspect, the results are in the form of online learning, considered in the good category. Meanwhile, according to the product aspect, the results are in the form of quality achievement on learning outcomes and the support of the online learning system implementation, considered in the good category

    Using network analysis for rapid, transparent, and rigorous thematic analysis: A case study of online distance learning

    In thematic analysis, themes construction can be performed manually by the researcher or automatically by a computer. Both methods have strengths and weaknesses. This article introduces a strategy that involves the role of both researcher and computer to construct themes from qualitative data in a rapid, transparent, and rigorous manner. The strategy uses network analysis and is demonstrated by employing a case study on students\u27 perceptions of online distance learning they experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic. The themes-construction strategy consists of four systematic phases, namely (1) determining unit of analysis and coding; (2) constructing the code co-occurrence matrix; (3) conducting network analysis; and (4) generating, reviewing, and reporting the themes. The strategy is successfully demonstrated in generating themes from the data with modularity value Q = 0.34. The application of network analysis in this strategy allows researchers to automatically generate themes from qualitative data using mathematical algorithms, represent these themes visually using network graph, and interpret the themes to answer the research questions

    Berdasarkan hasil PISA Tahun 2018, peringkat siswa Indonesia pada kategori Sains yaitu 71 dari 79 negara dengan memperoleh rata-rata sebesar 396 yang masih dalam kategori dibawah rata-rata internasional yaitu 500. Hal tersebut terjadi karena beberapa faktor, salah satunya yaitu siswa Indonesia masih memiliki keterampilan berpikir kritis yang rendah dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal berpikir tingkat tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menumbuhkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa melalui pemanfaatan multimedia interaktif pada materi Hidrokarbon. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPA 2 dan XI IPA 3 yang berjumlah masing-masing 24 dan 25 siswa pada kelas kontrol dan eksperimen. Metode penelitian ini adalah Quasi Experiment dengan Nonrandomized Control Group Pre-test-Pottest Design. Instrumen penelitian ini berupa soal tes esai dan lembar observasi berdasarkan indikator keterampilan berpikir kritis. Data dianalisis menggunakan SPSS versi 22. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemanfaatan multimedia interaktif pada materi Hidrokarbon dapat menumbuhkan keterampilan berpikir kritis. Pertumbuhan keterampilan berpikir kritis paling besar terjadi pada indikator memfokuskan pertanyaan sebesar 88,12% dengan kategori sangat baik. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan adanya perbedaan rata-rata antara kelas kontrol dan eksperimen dengan taraf signifikan sebesar 0,00. Hal tersebut juga didukung dengan perolehan rata-rata kelas eksperimen (22) yang memperoleh hasil lebih besar dari rata-rata kelas kontrol (18,56). The use of interactive multimedia on hydrocarbon chapter to grow student\u27s critical thinking skill Abstract Based on PISA 2018 results, Indonesia ranked 71 out of 79 participant countries with results below the international average. This happens due to several factors, one of which is that Indonesian students have low critical thinking skills to solving high-order thinking test. This study aims to determine whether the use of interactive multimedia on hydrocarbon chapter is effective to make grow critical thinking skills. Sample in this study were students of XI IPA 2 and XI IPA 3 with 24 and 25 students each control and experimental classes. The research method is Quasi Experiment with Nonrandomized Control Group Pre-test-Pottest Design. The research instrument used essay test questions and observation sheets based on indicators of critical thinking skills. Data were analyzed by SPSS version 22. The result showed that interactive multimedia use on Hydrocarbon chapter was effective to grow critical thinking skills. The most critical thinking skill growth occurs in focusing questions indicator with 88,12% on very good category. Statistical analysis result showed there was difference average between control and experimental classes with significant level 0.00. That data also powered by average result of experimental classes (22) bigger then average result of control calsses (18,56)

    Evaluating pre-service science teachers\u27 concept mastery in the topic of biodiversity during distance learning under circumstance of Covid-19 pandemic

    Students as pre-service science teachers have to reach concept mastery during learning process, since it includes in a teachers\u27 pedagogical competence that has to be attained well. Although this current circumstance is under covid-19 pandemic, however distance learning should provide an effective situation that can gauge students\u27 concept mastery. This study aims at evaluating pre-service science teachers\u27 concept mastery in the topic of biodiversity during distance learning under circumstance of covid-19 pandemic. The research included in a descriptive quantitative study. The distance learning was conducted in the lecture of bioconservation during odd semester, on September 2020 toward 50 students in the year academic of 2017. Data were collected using an online test consisting of 10 multiple choice questions. Findings indicates that the pre-service science teachers\u27 concept mastery reached a score of 53.0 in which was categorized as moderate criteria. Therefore, it can be concluded that the concept mastery has to be enhanced continually in every learning process in order pre-service science teachers are able to comprehend science concepts and enhance this mastery respectively

    Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh globalisasi, peran negara, dan implikasinya terhadap aktualisasi nilai-nilai ideologi negara bagi Warga Negara Indonesia. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam menjawab permasalahan adalah dengan studi literatur, observasi, dan wawancara. Dari hasil data ditemukan bahwa terdapat nilai-nilai globalisasi yang mempengaruhi pola pikir, sikap, dan perilaku sebagian warga negara yang didukung dengan konsistensi, ketegasan, dan penguatan peran pemerintah dalam merawat nilai-nilai kebersamaan. Selain itu juga berimplikasi untuk meredam eskalasi dan kegiatan yang menjurus pada perilaku yang menonjolkan sentiment primordial serta berimplikasi memantapkan persepsi warga negara tentang pentingnya ideologi negara, walaupun tidak langsung mengakselerasi masyarakat mengaktualisasikan nilai-nilai ideology negara secara signifikan. ----- This article aims to analyze the effect of globalization, the role of the state, and its implications for the actualization of state ideology values for Indonesian citizens. The approach used in answering problems is through literature study, observation, and interview. From the results of the data, it found that there are values of globalization that affect the mindset, attitudes, and behavior of some citizens supported by consistency, decisiveness, and strengthening the role of government in caring for the values of togetherness. It also has implications to reduce escalation and activities that lead to behaviors that highlight primordial sentiments and has implications for strengthening citizens\u27 perceptions about the importance of state ideology. However, it does not directly accelerate the community to actualize state ideology values significantly

    Traversal Struktur Data Bipartite Graph dalam Graph Database menggunakan Depth-First Search

    Bipartite graph merupakan satu bentuk graph yang dapat digunakan dalam membentuk sebuah strukur data yang saling berelasi namun memiliki karakteristik dengan dua jenis node yang berbeda seperti data hubungan keluarga atau data pohon keluarga. Dalam menyimpan struktur data bipartite graph ke sebuah database dapat digunakan graph database dengan konsep dimana node saling saling terhubung dengan node lainnya. Bipartite graph yang dikombinasikan dengan graph database menghasilkan solusi yang tepat dalam menyimpan data berelasi dengan dua jenis node yang berbeda. Namun dalam solusi tersebut menimbulkan permasalahan baru mengenai pencarian atau penelusuran (traversal) terhadap data yang terdapat dalam struktur data tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan algoritma yang dapat digunakan dalam penelusuran (traversal) data pada struktur bipartite graph dalam graph database. Algoritma yang dikembangkan adalah terapan dari algoritma depth-first search (DFS) yang telah dimodifikasi sehingga dapat digunakan dalam penelusuran (traversal) data pada bipartite graph dalam graph database. Hasil pengujian terhadap algoritma tersebut yang telah diimplementasikan ke dalam program terhadap data yang ada pada satu garis ikatan keluarga besar yaitu keluarga George Washington /CASSIDY/ pada 30 kali percobaan dengan satuan waktu nanosecond yaitu 10-9 detik menunjukkan waktu maksimal yang didapat sebesar 42831 nanosecond, waktu minimal 5150 nanosecond, dan didapat rata-rata waktu penelusuran sebesar 9407,93 nanosecond

    The competency of lecturers as supervisors of the final paper in the Office Administration study program of Universitas Indonesia

    This study aims to explain the competence of lecturers as a supervisor for the final paper in the Office Administration Study Program of Universitas Indonesia (UI). This research approach used is a quantitative method, which focuses on the use of numbers, tables, and graphs to display the results of the data obtained. To obtain data, the authors distribute questionnaires with several questions to the object of research. This research population is the class student 2016 of the office administration study program who worked on the final paper (tugas karya akhir or TKA). Four aspects of competency were tested in this study: Pedagogical Competency, Professional Competency, Social Competency, and Personality Competency. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the lecturers of the Office Administration Study Program in UI as supervisor the final paper is categorized as competent

    The effectiveness of family welfare movement program in slums

    Demands for family needs are increasing along with the changing times and science. Thus, Family Welfare Program or Program Kesejahteraan Keluarga (PKK) is nationally aimed to empower families to improve prosperity towards faith and devotion to God; virtuous morality; health; prosperity; independence; gender equality, justice; legal and environmental awareness. This paper aims to provide a descriptive picture to PKK Deliksari management about the level of implementation of the members of each workgroup program (I, II, III, IV); give a picture to PKK management about which workgroup is responded mostly by members; provide an overview of the skills education that is most interesting in Deliksari community, so it can be followed up through village entrepreneurship training; provide an overview of facilities needed to motivate the community to increase efforts. The research was conducted in Deliksari. The total respondents are 58 people determined by purposive sampling. The data collection tool is questions with multiple answers corroborated by in-depth interviews with management, some members, and field observations. The study found that the achievement of program implementation percentage included the average achievement of workgroup I in the high category; the average achievement of workgroup II in the medium category; the average achievement of workgroup III in the medium category, the average achievement of workgroup IV in the medium category; the average achievement of workgroup I to IV in the medium category; and the highest percentage, that is, from residents choosing baking cookies skill (63.79%), sewing skills (13.79%) and planting fruit around the houses (22.41%)

    Analisis situasi didaktis dalam pembelajaran matematika berbantuan ICT pada siswa SMP

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi apakah mahasiswa calon guru matematika mampu membangun situasi didaktis matematis pada siswa SMP dalam pembelajaran matematika berbasis ICT (Information and Communications Technology). Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa calon guru yang telah praktik mengajar di sekolah. Subjek menggunakan aplikasi yang dibuat sendiri oleh subjek. Aplikasi yang dibuat berupa Augmented Reality (realitas bertumbuh), yaitu teknologi yang menggabungkan benda maya dua dimensi dan atau pun tiga dimensi ke dalam sebuah lingkungan nyata tiga dimensi lalu memproyeksikan benda-benda maya tersebut dalam waktu nyata. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan karakteristik situasi didaktis dalam pembelajaran matematika berbantuan ICT pada siswa SMP yang dibangun oleh mahasiswa calon guru adalah sebagai berikut: situasi didaktis matematis yang dibangun belum mengonstruksi pengetahuan siswa secara mandiri; situasi didaktis matematis yang dibangun cenderung berasal dari informasi yang disampaikan guru, bukan dari media ICT yang digunakan; dan ICT yang dilibatkan dalam pembelajaran belum mampu mengelaborasikan proses kognitif siswa dalam jejak pembelajarannya. Analysis of a didactic situation in ICT-assisted mathematics learning in junior high school students Abstract This study aims to identify whether prospective mathematics teacher students are able to build mathematical didactic situations in junior high school students in ICT-based mathematics learning. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The research subjects were prospective teachers who had practiced teaching at school. The subjects used applications made by themselves. Those applications were in the form of augmented reality (reality grows), namely technology that combines two-dimensional and or three-dimensional virtual objects into a real three-dimensional environment and then projecting these virtual objects in real-time. The results showed the characteristics of didactic situations in ICT-assisted mathematics learning in junior high school students built by prospective teacher students were as follows: didactic mathematical situations that were built had not constructed students\u27 knowledge independently; the built mathematical didactic situation tends to originate from the information conveyed by the teacher, not from the ICT media used; and ICT involved in learning has not been able to elaborate the cognitive processes of students in their learning footprint

    Kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis dalam penyelesaian soal open-ended jenis PISA berdasarkan level sekolah

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal open-ended jenis PISA ditinjau dari level sekolah. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian survei dengan sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas X SMA (n = 260) di Kabu­paten Lampung Timur dengan level sekolah tinggi (k = 5), sedang (k = 3) dan rendah (k = 2) ber­dasarkan akreditasi. Sampel penelitian ditentukan dengan stratified proporsional random sam­pling. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes kemampuan berpikir kreatif jenis soal open-ended PISA yang terdiri atas enam butir soal uraian dan pedoman wawancara. Instrumen tes yang digunakan telah dilakukan validasi isi oleh tiga orang ahli dengan rata-rata hasil validasi berka­tegori baik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal open-ended jenis PISA pada sekolah level tinggi berada pada kategori cukup, pada sekolah level sedang berada pada kategori kurang, sedangkan pada sekolah level rendah berada pada kategori cukup. Mathematical creative thinking ability in solving open-ended problems of PISA type based on school level Abstract This research aimed to describe students\u27 mathematical creative thinking ability in solving open-ended problems of PISA type based on the school level. The research was a survey with the sample was grade-ten students (n = 260) of senior high school with categories of the high (k = 5), medium (k = 3), and low school (k = 2) based on their accreditation in the district of Lampung Timur, Indonesia. We used stratified proportional random sampling to determine the sample. The instruments used in this research consisted of a creative thinking ability test with six con­structed response items and interview guidelines. Three experts had validated the instrument of a test, and it was proved to be valid in terms of content with a good category. We analyzed the collected data based on the indicator of creative thinking ability. The result showed that students\u27 mathematical creative thinking ability to solve open-ended problem PISA type at high-level schools was in the moderate category, at medium-level schools was in the poor category, while at low-level schools in the moderate category
