    Developing an instrument to evaluate the influential factors of the success of local curriculum

    The purpose of this study is to create an instrument to evaluate the factors that influence the success of the local curriculum in senior high school. The instrument developed is essential to find out what factors influence the success of the local curriculum. This research is a research and development which consists of three stages: (1) initial investigation, (2) design and validation stages, (3) trials, evaluations, and revisions. The results of small scale trials were analyzed using EFA (Exploratory Factor Analysis), obtaining one invalid item from 32 items. The results of a wide-scale test analyzed using CFA (Confirmatory Factor Analysis) obtained all indicators have loading factors\u3e 0.3 and reliability constructs\u3e 0.7. The results of the analysis show that the developed instrument fits the data obtained in the field. From the constructs of the instrument development, it is indicated that there are nine influential factors, consisting of regional government support, local community support, local industry support, academic community support, student interest, student motivation, practical tools, practical materials, and funds to buy lab material. The instrument developed has been used properly to obtain information about the factors that influence the success of the local curriculum

    Analisis level makroskopis, mikroskopis dan simbolik mahasiswa dalam memahami elektrokimia

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat pemahaman mahasiswa dilihat dari aspek makroskopis, mikroskopis dan simbolik dalam memahami konsep. Fenomena pembelajaran kimia yang ditemukan hampir selalu terfokus pada tingkat makroskopik berupa rumus dan angka, sedangkan tingkat yang sering luput dari pengematan adalah tingkat mikroskopik dan simbolik seperti penyajian diagram dan proses reaksi kimia.Salah satu sifat dari ilmu kimia adalah cenderung bersifat abstrak dan kompleks, seperti proses terjadinya reaksi elektrolisis dimana terjadi pergerakan partikel yang tidak dapat diamati oleh mata sehingga sering terjadi miskonsepsi dalam memahami konsep kimia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen semu dengan pendekantan kuantitatif dilakukan pada mahasiswa semester satu sebanyak 40 orang di prodi Farmasi Universitas Muhammadiyah Prof. DR. Hamka. Sampel penelitian ini diambil secara purposive random sampling dengan kuisioner. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh hasil pemahaman mahasiswa pada konsep elektrokimia dilihat dari level makroskopis sebesar 72.75% kategori baik, level mikroskopis sebesar 66.25% kategori baik dan simbolik adalah 70% kategori baik. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran dengan aspek makroskopis, mikroskopis, simbolik dapat menanamkan konsep secara utuh. Analysis of macroscopic, microscopic and symbolic levels of students in understanding electrochemistry Abstract This research aims to find out the students\u27 comprehension from the macroscopic, microscopic, and symbolic aspects of the concept. The phenomenon of chemistry learning that is found almost focused on the macroscopic level in the form of formulas and numbers, while the level that often missed in some observation is microscopic and symbolic levels; such as diagramming and chemical reaction processes. One of the characteristics of chemistry tends to be abstract and complex, as the process of electrolysis reaction in which the particle movement can\u27t be observed so that misconceptions often occur in understanding chemical concepts. This study uses quasi-experimental methods with quantitative approach conducted by 40 semester students in the first semester of Pharmacy at the University of Muhammadiyah Prof. DR. Hamka. The research sample was taken by purposive random sampling with a questionnaire. Based on the result, the students\u27 comprehension of the electrochemistry concept have 72,75% good category in macroscopic level, 66,25% good category in microscopic level, and 70% good category in symbolic. So, it can be concluded that learning with macroscopic, microscopic, and symbolic could fulfill the concept perfectly

    Development of self-rating scale instrument of self-directed learning skills for high school students

    This study aims to develop a valid and reliable self-rating scale instrument for measuring Self-Directed Learning (SDL) skills. This DDI study follows the steps of Hinkin\u27s development (1995) which consists of five stages: creating an item pool, expert conclusion, implementation, confirmatory factor analysis, and reliability analysis. The self-rating scale developed in this study consisted of sixty statements accompanied by a 1-5 Likert scale. Based on the factors analysis, 16 items were still in the draft and 44 items were declared valid and reliable. Five factors that are determined are: awareness (8 items,α = 0.717), learning strategies (9 items,α = 0.806), and learning activities (7 items,α = 0.777), evaluation (8 items,α = 0.790), and interpersonal skills (12 items,α = 0.907). The reliability coefficient (Cronbach Alpha) of the self-rating scale isα = 0.933, with the required reliability criteria is 0.5. On a scale conversion of 1-100, the student\u27s highest score of SDL skills is 93, and the lowest score SDL skills are 31 (SD = 20.334)

    The occurrence of a tire leak in the middle of a trip can often be caused by many things, such as being hit by a sharp object, the age of the tire is too old, leaking in the former patches, or it can be caused by others. These factors make vehicle users panic and think to immediately find the nearest tire repair location. Almost everyone has a smartphone where there is a Google Map application by utilizing GPS technology so as not to get lost when driving, with GPS technology can be estimated the distance between one location and another. The purpose of this study is to produce a GIS mobile application that provides a tire patch location search feature with information, so that it is expected to be useful for vehicle users if they experience a tire accident or erupt on the road. The workshop information that is presented is the opening / closing time of the workshop, there are nitrogen added facilities or not, tubeless tire patches, can repair motorcycle tire patches or can also tire the car and the contact of the workshop owner, so you can directly contact the nearest tire patch. The results of testing the user\u27s response to the use of the application indicate that the application is useful

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh pembelajaran POGIL berkonteks SSI terhadap kualitas argumentasi siswa kelas X. Rancangan penelitian adalah mixed-methods. Data kuantitatif berupa tingkat kualitas argumentasi siswa yang diperoleh melalui instrumen tes keterampilan berargumentasi. Data kualitatif berupa hasil wawancara siswa tentang sikap siswa terhadap SSI dan argumentasi siswa pada proses pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan keterampilan berargumentasi antara siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan POGIL berkonteks SSI dengan siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan POGIL dan konvensional. Pembelajaran POGIL berkonteks SSI lebih efektif dalam membelajarkan keterampilan berargumentasi siswa dibandingkan dua kelas lainnya berdasarkan nilai rata-rata kualitas argumentasi. The effect of POGIL with socioscientific issues context for high school argumentation skills quality in chemical bonding Abstract The aim of the study was to examine the influence of POGIL with SSI context on the quality of high school students argumentation. The research design was mixed-methods. Quantitative data in the form of level of students\u27 argumentation quality collected by instrument of argument skills. Qualitative was the students\u27 transcript of interview about their attitude toward SSI and their argumentation in process of learning.The results showed that there was a difference in the skills of argumentation between the students who taught with the POGIL with SSI context and the students taught by POGIL and conventional instruction. POGILS with SSI context was more effective in teaching students\u27 argumentation skills compared to the other classes based on the average score of student argumentation

    Graduates\u27 perception on the importance of special job market in state vocational high schools in Langsa City

    This study aims to determine the perceptions of graduates of state vocational high schools in Langsa City on the performance of Special Job Market in vocational high schools based on the aspects of (1) Special Job Market performance; (2) role of Special Job Market; (3) Special Job Market service; and (4) the success of the Special Job Market. This study is quantitative research employing a descriptive approach. The population of the research is 365 graduates tracked through the Special Job Market of four vocational schools in Langsa City in 2007/2008. From the population, 15% were taken for the samples of the study, so the number of respondents is 55 graduates. The result of the research shows that: (1) the percentage of Special Job Market performance aspect is 58.54% with quite satisfied criteria; (2) the percentage of role of Special Job Market aspect is 59.14% with quite satisfied criteria; (3) the percentage of Special Job Market service aspect is 51.02% with quite satisfied criteria; and (4) the percentage of the success of the Special Job Market aspect is 51.17% with quite satisfied criteria

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh pembelajaran matematika dengan strategi pembelajaran Relating, Experiencing, Applying, Cooperating, Transfering (REACT) berorientasi kearifan lokal terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan karakter positif siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian mixed method menggunakan concurrent embedded design. Sampel penelitian yang ditentukan dengan teknik random sampling yaitu siswa SD Negeri 1 Baktiseraga, Bali. Data kuantitatif diperoleh melalui tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika dan data kualitatif diperoleh melalui wawancara, lembar observasi, dan angket karakter siswa. Data kuantitatif dianalisis menggunakan uji-t pada taraf signifikansi 5%. Data kualitatif terkait karakter siswa disajikan secara deskriptif. Hasil analisis data kuantitatif menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan strategi pembelajaran REACT berorientasi kearifan lokal lebih tinggi dari pada siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran konvensional. Hasil analisis data kualitatif menunjukkan bahwa karakter siswa mengalami peningkatan yang tergolong positif setelah mengikuti strategi pembelajaran REACT berorientasi kearifan lokal. The impact of Relating, Experiencing, Applying, Cooperating, Transfering strategy orientated to local wisdom on problem-solving and character Abstract This study aimed to describe the impact of learning of mathematics with learning strategy of Relating, Experiencing, Applying, Cooperating, Transfering (REACT) oriented to local wisdom on the problem-solving ability and positive character of students. This research was mixed-method research using a concurrent embedded design. The research sample determined by the random sampling technique was the sixth-grade students of SD Negeri 1 (state primary school) Baktiseraga, Bali, Indonesia. Quantitative data were obtained through tests of mathematical problem-solving ability and qualitative data were obtained through interviews, observation sheets, and student character questionnaires. Quantitative data were analyzed using t-tests at a significance level of 5%. Qualitative data related to the characters provided descriptively. The results of quantitative data analysis regarding mathematical problem-solving of students who take learning with REACT learning strategy oriented to local wisdom was higher than students who study conventional learning. The results of the qualitative data analysis oppose the increased character of students who were classified as positive after following the REACT learning strategy oriented towards local wisdom.     Tujuan dari penelitian kualitatif ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita pada materi barisan ditinjau dari Adversity Quotient (AQ). Kemampuan pemecahan masalah memiliki 4 indikator yaitu: 1) mengidentifikasi masalah, 2) merumuskan masalah, 3) melaksanakan strategi, dan 4) memverifikasi solusi. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada semester genap tahun ajaran 2018/2019. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 30 Siswa kelas XI IPA 1 SMA Kesatrian 1 Semarang yang telah diajarkan materi barisan. Kemudian dipilih subjek berdasarkan tipe AQ yaitu Climber, Camper dan Quitter. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan angket AQ, tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah, dan wawancara. Teknik analisis data penelitian ini meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan/verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa bertipe Climber mampu memenuhi seluruh indikator dari 4 indikator kemampuan pemecahan masalah yaitu indikator 1, 2, 3, dan 4. Siswa bertipe Camper mampu memenuhi 3 dari 4 indikator kemampuan pemecahan masalah yaitu indikator 1, 2, dan 3. Siswa bertipe Quitter hanya mampu memenuhi 1 indikator kemampuan pemecahan masalah yaitu indikator 2. Analysis of students\u27 problem-solving abilities in solving word problem sequence in terms of adversity quotient Abstract The purpose of this qualitative research was to describe the students\u27 problem-solving abilities in solving word problems in the sequences material in terms of Adversity Quotient (AQ). Problem-solving has four indicators namely: 1) overcoming the problem, 2) formulating the problem, 3) implementing the strategy, and 4) verifying the solution. The study was conducted in the even semester of the 2018/2019 academic year. The research subjects consisted of 30 students of class XI IPA 1 of Kesatrian 1 Semarang High School who had taught the sequences material. Then the subject was chosen based on the type of AQ namely climber, camper and quitter. Data collection techniques using the AQ questionnaire, the problem-solving test, and interview. The data analysis techniques of this study include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results showed that students of the climber type were able to meet all the indicators of the four indicators of problem-solving namely indicators 1, 2, 3, and 4. Students of the camper type were able to fulfill three from four indicators of problem-solving namely indicators 1, 2, and 3. Students\u27 quitter type were only able to meet one indicator of problem-solving, namely indicator 2

    Hubungan kemampuan numerik dan kemampuan spasial terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan (1) hubungan parsial antara kemampuan numerik dan kemampuan spasial dengan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa; (2) hubungan kemampuan numerik dan kemampuan spasial secara simultan terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian korelasional dengan populasi adalah siswa kelas VII SMPK Santu Fransiskus Xaverius Ruteng yang terletak di Kecamatan Langke Rembong Kabupaten Manggarai, Propinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur. Sampel sebanyak 66 siswa dipilih menggunakan teknik random sampling. Data diperoleh dari tes kemampuan numerik, tes kemampuan spasial, dan tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis. Analisis uji prasyarat menggunakan uji normalitas, uji linearitas, dan uji multikolinearitas. Analisis data menggunakan analisis korelasi sederhana dan korelasi ganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) terdapat hubungan signifikan antara kemampuan numerik dengan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dengan koefisien korelasi 0,457 dan besar sumbangan kemampuan numerik terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis sebesar 20,9%; (2) terdapat hubungan signifikan antara kemampuan spasial dengan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dengan koefisien korelasi 0,426 dan besar sumbangan kemampuan spasial terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis sebesar 18,1%; (3) terdapat hubungan signifikan kemampuan numerik dan kemampuan spasial secara simultan terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dengan koefisien korelasi 0,555 dengan kontribusi kedua variable secara simultan terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa sebesar 30,8%. The relationship between numerical and spatial ability to students\u27 mathematical communication ability Abstract This study aimed to describe (1) a partial relationship between students\u27 numerical abilities and spatial abilities with mathematical communication abilities; (2) simultaneous relationship between students\u27 numerical and spatial abilities to mathematical communication abilities. This study used correlational research. The population of this research was seventh-grade students of SMPK St. Fransiskus Xaverius Ruteng, located in Langke Rembong Subdistrict, Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. A sample of 66 students was selected using the random sampling technique. Data were obtained by using numerical ability tests, spatial ability tests, and mathematical communication ability test. Before analyzing the data, a normality test, linearity test, and multicollinearity test were carried out. The data were analyzed by using a simple correlation and multiple correlations. Data analysis showed that (1) there was a significant relationship between students\u27 numerical abilities and mathematical communication abilities with correlation coefficient 0,457 and the contribution of numerical ability to mathematical communication ability was 20.9%; (2) there was a significant relationship between students\u27 spatial abilities and mathematical communication abilities with correlation coefficient 0,426 and the contribution of spatial ability to mathematical communication ability is 18.1%; (3) there was a simultaneous relationship between students\u27 numerical and spatial abilities to students mathematical communication abilities with correlation coefficient 0,555 with the contribution of both variables to students\u27 mathematical communication ability was 30.8%
