No full textThe simple stage seen here was built as a raised platform, semicircular in shape, using unpainted pine planks. The back of the stage consisted of eight columns connected by one long plank at the top. Built in 1919 and used that year for the Centennial celebration of Alabama\u27s statehood.

No full textThe Lurleen Burns Wallace Fine Arts Center opened May 18, 1969. A grant obtained under the Higher Education Facilities Act was obtained to build this new structure. At the time, the Fine Arts Center had the largest auditorium anywhere in Northwest Alabama, with a seating capacity of 1,746 (divided into three sections). There was a separate 4-story music building also built at this time.
