Tugon-Pangkalikasan for Community-Led Ecological Care: A Single Case Study of Waste Management in a Fisherfolk Community
Waste management remains a persistent challenge in the fisherfolk community of Lian, Batangas, where recurring waste continues to affect Tayum Bay despite long-standing community initiatives. This study aims to understand how waste acquires existential meaning for community members and how this shapes their ecological awareness, participation, and capacity for action. Using a qualitative single case study design, the research draws on field observations, a semi-structured interview with the association leader, and thematic analysis guided by Deep Ecology and Leopold’s Land Ethics. The analysis generated three themes: Individual Awareness and Transformation, Collective Environmental Engagement, and Recognition of Structural and Institutional Barriers. Findings reflect a progression from personal awakening to shared ecological practice, limited by systemic constraints. While context-specific, the findings suggest that similar communities may experience ecological action as a balance of ethical awareness, collective effort, and structural support. These insights inform the proposed Community Ecological Action Framework, offering guidance for sustainable community-led stewardship and local policy development
“You and me, same!”: Political Envy in _Do The Right Thing_
In this paper we argue that political envy is central to unraveling the racial dynamics in Spike Lee's Do The Right Thing. Building upon Sara Protasi’s taxonomy of envy and, in particular, from her analysis of some DTRT scenes, we conduct a more thorough interrogation of how political emotions, most notably envy, shape race relations in the film. We start by summarizing Protasi’s account of envy and then review two alternative accounts of political emotions. After elucidating what envy is and how it becomes politically valenced, we analyze three key scenes that are the most emblematic of political envy: 1) a discussion between three Black characters on the street corner, 2) an exchange between the film’s main character, Mookie, and his racist co-worker, Pino; and 3) the film’s climactic riot sequence. Our analysis of these three scenes, in addition to complementing previous readings of Do The Right Thing, highlight envy’s potential to either impede or promote political action
On the greatest happiness for the greatest number: beyond Anderson Woods’ 1925 opposition
This paper responds to Anderson Woods’ famous paper against Jeremy Bentham’s use of the formula: the greatest happiness for the greatest number. (Or of the greatest number: no distinction made here.) I reject two objections that Woods makes: that the formula, taken literally, specifies two final ends when it is intended to specify one; and that these ends are inconsistent. Both fail because the ends extracted are incorrect and a correct extraction does not fail to specify a final and consistent end. Then I make my own objection: that the formula is misleading at best, because utility monsters, as they are today called, count for more when the aim is maximizing the happiness in the world
A Comparative Analysis of Mathematics Achievement between Working and Non-working Students at Cotabato State University- College of Teacher Education
This study examined the mathematics performance of working and non-working students
at Cotabato State University – College of Teacher Education for the academic year 2023-
2024. Also, it aimed to propose a mathematics intervention designed for working students.
Utilizing a quantitative research design through comparative analysis with a total of sixty
mathematics majors as respondents of the study. An independent t-test was employed to
ascertain whether a significant difference exists in mathematics achievement between the
two groups. The results indicated that both working and non-working students achieved
above-average performance in their first-year mathematics courses. The mean
performance for working and non-working students was 1.74 and 1.78, respectively.
Despite a minor variation in performance, the independent t-test findings revealed no
significant difference between the two groups. The analysis concludes that students can
achieve high marks in mathematics regardless of their employment status, working or not.
Moreover, it particularly recommends working students to optimize their utilization of
online mathematical resources and to implement effective time management practices

The main topic addressed in this introduction is demarcation between ancient and modern knowledge. My idea is that there are important differences between modern and ancient epistemologies, but they can hardly be treated in general terms (taking ancient epistemology as a whole and opposing it to modern). Specific differences need to be evaluated almost case by case, while the hermeneutic practice itself turns the very idea of demarcation into something problematic, if not paradoxical. I analyze Lloyd Gerson's view, driven by a general intent of demarcation between ancient and modern knowledge, its strengths and weaknesses. Then I compare it with the more complex approach that David Konstan proposed for the demarcation between different cultural contexts. In the second part, I introduce the volume's contributions, placing them into three thematic groups, Theology, Praxis and Hermeneutics, which identify as many relevant points regarding the problem of demarcation
ORAL READING MISCUES AND INFERENTIAL READING COMPREHENSION OF TVL SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL LEARNERS
This study examined the relationship between the frequency of identified oral reading miscues limited to substitution, correction, hesitation, repetition, omission, and insertion and the levels of inferential reading comprehension among Grade 11 TVL Senior High School learners at Pasay City East High School. The respondents of the study are 212 learners under the Technical Vocational Livelihood track from varying strands namely, Industrial Arts ,specialized in Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Information and Communication Technology, and Home Economics, specialized in Bread and Pastry Production and Hairdressing selected through simple random sampling technique. Additionally, the study administered a standardized reading comprehension tool McCall- Crabbs Book F, authored by William A. McCall and Lelah C. Schroeder, used by Villajuan (2020) study and by Quezon City Science High School, was utilized to measure the inferential reading comprehension level of secondary learners. Furthermore, the story “Poison” by Raould Dahl (1953) adopted from Hoffner (1974), was utilized to determine the oral reading miscues of the respondents using Argyle's (1989) reading miscues inventory system adopted from Mahmud's (2018) study. The study utilized data analysis tools such as average for miscues and G-score and Pearson-R coefficient. The data revealed consistent fluctuations in students' inferential reading comprehension, resulting to an overall average of 6.02 (6th-grade level). Meanwhile, substitution and omission were determined the most rampant oral reading miscues among respondents. In conclusion, the study highlighted the urgent need of comprehensive reading programs and supportive learning environment to bridge the gap in inferential reading comprehension
DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF AN RF- BASED CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM FOR LOW-SPEED ZONES
Speeding in designated low-speed zones within urban areas poses a significant threat to the safety of
both pedestrians and motorists. To address this issue, a Low-Speed Zone Detection System using IoT and RF
signals has been developed to automatically detect restricted zones and alert drivers in real time. The system
employs RF transmitters strategically installed in sensitive areas such as schools, hospitals, and residential
neighborhoods. These transmitters continuously broadcast signals that are received by RF modules installed in
approaching vehicles. Upon detection, the system activates an in-vehicle alert mechanism consisting of an LCD
display, a buzzer, and an automatic speed control unit to inform the driver and enforce speed limits. To enhance
monitoring and enforcement, the system is integrated with IoT capabilities that transmit vehicle speed, location,
and compliance status to a cloud-based platform. This enables traffic authorities to monitor real-time violations
and analyze trends to develop more effective safety strategies. Unlike traditional speed enforcement methods
that depend heavily on manual monitoring, this automated solution ensures greater efficiency, increases
compliance, and significantly reduces the risk of accidents in critical areas. By automatically regulating vehicle
speed in vulnerable zones, the system provides a proactive and reliable approach to improving urban road safety
Leveraging prompt engineering to enhance financial market integrity and risk management
This paper presents a comprehensive investigation into the role of prompt engineering in optimizing the effectiveness of large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT-4 and Google Gemini for financial market integrity and risk management. As AI tools are increasingly integrated into financial services, including credit risk analysis, market risk evaluation, and financial modeling, prompt engineering has become crucial for improving the relevance, accuracy, and contextual alignment of AI-generated outputs. This study evaluates the impact of various prompt configurations in enhancing financial decision-making. Through a series of experiments, the paper compares the performance of ChatGPT-4 and Google Gemini (versions 1.5 and 2.0) in generating actionable insights for credit and market risk analysis. The results reveal that ChatGPT-4 outperforms Google Gemini by over 30% in generating accurate financial insights. Additionally, ChatGPT-4 Version 4 is found to be 20% more effective than Version 3 in risk analysis tasks, particularly in aligning with regulatory frameworks and financial data. These improvements highlight the significant role of prompt engineering in enhancing the precision of financial models. Furthermore, the study explores the reduction of error rates through optimized prompt strategies. In particular, prompt engineering reduces error rates by approximately 20% when assessing complex financial queries

The Doctor Appointment Booking System is a web-based platform designed to simplify healthcare
appointment management. Developed using the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React, Node.js), it provides role based authentication for Patients, Doctors, and Admins, ensuring secure access. Patients can register, log in, book
appointments by selecting a doctor, date, and available time slot, and manage appointments by rescheduling or
canceling them. Secure online payment options enhance convenience. Doctors can create and update their profiles, set
availability, view scheduled appointments, and manage appointment statuses (completed, pending, or canceled). They
can also track earnings over time. Admins oversee the entire system, approving doctor profiles, managing patient
records, monitoring payments, and generating reports for performance analysis. Automated notifications and reminders
keep users informed about upcoming appointments. Security is ensured through JWT authentication, data encryption,
and role-based access control. The system features a responsive front-end built with React.js and Tailwind CSS and a
powerful back-end using Node.js and Express.js. By integrating modern technologies, it offers a seamless, secure, and
