Level of recommendation and satisfaction after an event: the NOS Primavera Sound case study
Purpose: This paper aims to evaluate the level of recommendation and satisfaction related with sociodemographic characteristics of visitors and the loyalty they show regarding the festival.
Methodology: Data from a random sample of 1397 visitors were collected from an online questionnaire after the festival occurred. In univariate analysis with application of the ANOVA test, we observe that the global satisfaction is influenced by age, marital status, educational degree, residence, if they participated in the previous edition, type of ticket and intention to return for the next edition. In the application of the factorial analysis, three distinct factors emerged: the recommendation of the festival, the satisfaction with the organization and the satisfaction with the stages. In the econometric models we highlight simultaneously the gender and the intention to return that influence the recommendation and the satisfaction.
Findings: The results will be important for the framework of management and marketing of the event NOS Primavera Sound in the sense that they can be used for the visitor segmentation through the identification of sociodemographic characteristics of visitors, the levels of recommendation, satisfaction and loyalty towards the event.
Originality/Value: This is the first time a post-event analysis is applied to NOS Primavera Sounds, in Portugal.B913-0565-0908 | Elvira Vieirainfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Volunteering motivations in humanitarian logistics: a case study in the food bank of Viana do Castelo
The importance of humanitarian logistics has been increasing over time, caused by economic or family crises. Volunteering has a fundamental role at the Food Bank of Viana do Castelo, contributing
to the quality of life improvement of disadvantaged families. This way is necessary to understand the motivations that determine to be a volunteer in this kind of entity, to improve the experience and at the same time, increase the number of people that could be potential volunteers. A questionnaire was prepared to determine the motivations that this volunteer experience allows to achieve, namely, the impact that the volunteer experience has on each person’s life. The results obtained show the existence of a positive association between the different dimensions of personal development, establishing ties, collaboration among other volunteers, and also acquiring professional skills with the experience of
Improvement of the volumetric occupation of the vehicles in the transport warehouse-stores in a food retailer
This project was developed in a food retail company with a complex distribution system, with several distribution centres located in Portugal, different temperature requirements for their products and different dimension store formats. The aim of the work was to analyze procedures to increase the height of loading units to improve the volumetric occupancy rate of the trucks, which depends mainly on the relationship between the number of pallets transported in each vehicle and its volume. After analyzing and diagnosing the picking, loading and unloading operations, it was found that the volumetric occupancy rate of the vehicles was 48.5%, which means that more than half of the truck is empty. To increase this indicator, two strategies were proposed to be implemented: the revision of the current volume and weight limits; and the consolidation of different categories in the same pallet for the small format store. After conducting pilot tests, it was estimated, for each of these strategies, an increase of 0.8% on volumetric occupancy rate, and an increase of a potential gain was obtained of more than 577,908 €/year.9F18-6D02-26B9 | Ângela Maria Esteves da Silvainfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
The expenditure behaviour during the trip and the impact of the intangible and tangible factors: the case of the city of Porto
In order to evaluate the expenditure of tourists during their trip and the impact of intangible and tangible factors, we used a survey performed to the national and international tourists and applied a factorial analysis and a Tobit regression. In addition to the variables that are usually used to explain the tourist expenses, we innovate by including the perception of the socially responsible city as one of the intangible traits of consumer. One of the main findings was that the tourism expenditure is positively explained by socio-demographics characteristics (age, marital status, schooling, work conditions and nationality), experiences on a trip, the perception of a socially responsible city, the importance of the heritage wealth, visiting the city in general and the intention to return. This kind of information will allow a better segmentation of tourists and an improved adaptation of the tourist product. This study do not only describe the indicators that contribute to the economic impact of the tourism but also proposes the strategy in associating the city of Porto with a socially responsible brand to support for the equilibrium between profitability and sustainability in the sector.B913-0565-0908 | Elvira VieiraN/
Consumer's willingness to engage in the circular economy: the higher education outlooks
As a forefront approach of sustainability, Circular Economy (CE) has been considered one
of the most powerful principles of modern society. It due to resource consumption continues to rise,
governments and companies have started looking at the circular model, as a hedge against resource
scarcity and as an engine for innovation and growth. This paper aims to bring together CE and
consumer’s perspective, to perceive the impact of buyer’s choice on CE initiatives. A survey was
conducted having in mind the engagement of the consumer with the circular economy concepts. The
results pointed out the awareness and willingness of consumers for the transition of the linear to the
circular production model, providing a value add by consumers for reducing environmental impacts
and enhancing sustainability through CE initiatives such as reuse repairability.9F18-6D02-26B9 | Ângela Maria Esteves da SilvaN/
How do we perceive advertising? Antecedents of attitudes on advertising and implications in purchase intentions
BioViverCidade: explorar recursos biológicos no 1.º CEB
madeira, combustíveis, regulação do clima, formação do solo ou a polinização. A constante
As atividades
ABSTRACT: Biodiversity is crucial to the balance of ecosystems and to ensuring the human well-being. It
provides goods and services such as food, medicines, wood, fuels, climate regulation, soil
formation or pollination. However, the human action contributes to the biodiversity decline and
ecosystem’s loss. This led to the adoption of global measures for the conservation and
sustainable use of biological resources, and the Convention on Biological Diversity was signed in
1992.
Portugal was one of the countries that rectified this Convention. The National Biodiversity
Conservation Strategy include environmental education as a driving force for changing
behaviours and lifestyles to make a sustainable use of biological resources.
The primary school is a privileged context for the acquisition of values related to the
conservation of biological resources, in order to increase public awareness of the value of biodiversity. To achieve this goal, teachers, whose practices are still very much influenced by
school textbooks, need to change their teaching methods and strategies.
Based on these assumptions, the contents related to science in primary school were analyzed,
the ecosystems with the highest educational value were identify and a didactic proposal called
BioViverCidade was developed. This proposal includes practical activities and didactic materials
related to a use of local biological resources in primary school.
The activities were tested by 63 students in summer activities and 6 teachers participating in the
BioViverCidade workshop: explore biological resources in primary school.
Preliminary results showed that the activities seem suitable and well adapted to primary school
students and can be adapted to different contexts.C917-B3FD-1A62 | Maria Luísa Vieira das Nevesinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Risk factors associated with horse fall severity whilst racing over grand national fences pre- and post-changes to their structure
This study investigated whether the modifications made to Grand National (GN) fences at Aintree, Liverpool, UK in 2012 following the Review of Safety and Welfare commissioned by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), reduced the number and severity of ridden horse falls. The study also investigated whether the number of fences in a race and the total starters were positively linked to falls, and whether horse and jockey experience had any bearing. Videos of 36 races run between 2008 and 2016 recording all horse falls were retrospectively reviewed. Eighteen of the races were run prior to the 2012 changes made to the fences and 18 after the modifications. Falls were graded using a pre-determined severity scale, and previous experience of jumping GN fences. The severity scale was developed by the authors based on the literature and their perception of the degree of injury caused to the rider. The number of falls pre and post-GN fence modification were adjusted to generalised linear models using the number of falls and severity of falls as dependent variables. A significant decrease in fallers was seen (P<0.001) after changes were made to the GN fences, together with a reduction in the probability of all levels of severity of fall. The severity scores decreased with increasing number of fences (P<0.001). When there were more starters in a race, a greater probability of horse falls was observed (P[removed]0.05). This study revealed that by implementing the changes recommended by the BHA, which included modifying the GN fences, the number and severity of ridden horse falls decreased. Horse and rider welfare was improved, contributing positively to the debate and public perception of the horseracing industry.0F1A-358B-43B5 | Fernando Jorge Ribeiro da MataN/
