Projects and programs of physical activity for old in the public Brazilian universities: a general view
The objective of this work was to describe a structure of projects/programs existing today in Brazilian public universities, to identify similarities and divergences and to point out indicators for changing new applications. Qualitative research of the descriptive exploratory type. Data were collected using an online instrument with 54 program coordinators, analyzed using the content analysis technique proposed by Bardin. Results: Found similarities regarding teaching strategies for elderly people according to what scientific literature prescribes. There was disagreement regarding the offer of activities in the different programs surveyed; there is no activity model to be followed. There was disagreement as to the type of physical activity offered in the programs. Not all regions have well-structured programs, there is a lack of resources, materials and personnel with experience in the area of physical activity for the elderly; built structures and places for carrying out activities are lacking. The offer of physical activities for the elderly in public universities is not yet a reality in all of them. Most programs increase through university extension and have been one of the maintainers of their legacy. We understand that there are indicators for the formulation of new proposals, such as: the experience of professionals in the field of Physical Education in offering and structuring the physical exercise offered; the need for teacher and continuing training; research and extension together in teaching; the importance of the evaluation as a subsidy for the continuity and prescription of the proposed exercises
Genomic prediction of ordinal traits via application of the BLASSO and BayesCπ methods in simulated data
This paper aims at evaluating the use of BLASSO and BayesCπ methods for the genomic prediction of ordinal traits, studying factors that influence the performance of the models, and if there is a difference in the ranking of individuals. Genotypic and phenotypic information from a simulated population of 4,100 animals, genotyped by 10k markers (QTL-MAS Workshop) were used. 3,000 animals were used for estimation of the predictive ability and bias accessed through 5-fold cross-validation with five repetitions. The other animals were used as a population of selection. One ANOVA and the Ryan-Einot-Gabriel-Welch test were performed to verify, respectively, which factors influence significantly the genomic prediction and if there is a statistical difference between the models. The results show that the four main factors significantly (p < 0.05) affect the predictive ability of GEBVs (genomic estimated breeding values), and that heritability and the number of categories are the most influential factors. Only for ordinal trait 2, with a density of 9k, significant differences (p < 0.05) were observed between the predictive ability of the methods. In general, the BayesCπ method proved to be more efficient in the identification of relevant SNPs and in the ranking of individuals. Finally, there is a slight superiority of the BayesCπ method for the genomic prediction of ordinal traits
Seleção de primers polimórficos para estudo de diversidade genética em cactáceas
A família Cactaceae está distribuída principalmente nas Américas, apresentam uma grande importância econômica, fornecendo recursos energéticos para animais polinizadores e dispersores, podendo ser utilizadas na alimentação animal e humana, possui um grande potencial na medicina tradicional e no paisagismo. O objetivo do presente estudo foi selecionar indicadores e padronizar reações de PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) para analisar ISSR (Inter Simple Sequence Repeats) em estudos de variabilidade genética de Cactaceae. Foram testados 14 indicadores de ISSR com temperatura variando de 48° a 52°C, em espécies de Tacinga, e destes, 8 foram selecionados por serem polimórficos: ISSR-808, ISSR-827, ISSR-842, ISSR-845, ISSR-853, ISSR-857 ISSR-880 e ISSR-888. O número médio de sequências amplificadas por indicador foi de 11,5 bandas, com destaque para o indicador ISSR-827, que produziu 15 bandas, enquanto os indicadores ISSR-845 e ISSR-853 produziram apenas 8 bandas. Os 8 indicadores selecionados no presente estudo possibilitaram a diferenciação genética, sendo eficientes e indicando um bom nível de polimorfismo entre as espécies analisadas, dessa forma, poderão ser utilizados em futuros trabalhos para estimar a divergência genética em nível molecular em espécies da família Cactaceae
Documental analysis of educational public policy: foundations of Paul de Bruyne's quadripolar approach
The present study seeks to explain the techniques and procedures, the concepts and categories with which the interpretation of the object studied, that is - documents related to the High School Technical Professional Education Policy - implemented in Bahia / Brazil, specifically, the reference regarding Paul de Bryne’s quadripolar approach (1977), which provide the theoretical-methodological density of the object studied in relation to the epistemological, theoretical, technical and morphological poles. In this perspective, it is agreed with Gamboa (1987), in the sense that, the accomplishment of a research is not the fulfilment of ‘methodological ritualism’ with a ‘theoretical fad’ in order not to repeat what commonly happens in research in education, in progressively more intense way, of eclectic attempts that randomly collect techniques, methods and theoretical references without a clear understanding of the epistemological foundations and the philosophical implications of the different paths of knowledge
AVALIAÇÃO PARTICIPATIVA E CONDIÇÕES AGROCLIMÁTICAS NO CULTIVO DO FEIJOEIRO EM SISTEMA ORGÂNICO
The present study aimed at the participatory evaluation of local and improved bean genotypes associated with agroclimatic conditions in organic farming systems. Joint work between the formal and informal sectors, generally represented by rural communities, can contribute to the use and conservation of germplasm adapted to the agroecosystems of agricultural communities. Furthermore, participatory improvement is undoubtedly an excellent strategy for the sustainable development of family farmer communities. Farmers happen to be co-responsible for the research ceasing to be a passive element within the process. The experiments were conducted under field conditions, under organic cultivation, in the agricultural community of Fortaleza, located in Muqui-ES. A total of 39 genotypes were used between cultivars grown in the region and local genotypes in the years 2006, 2007, and 2008. The experimental design was a randomized block design with four replications. It was verified that years of 2006, 2007, and 2008 there were few differences between the genotypes in the characteristics evaluated, except for grain production. The low rainfall in the year 2006 and the high temperatures in the year of 2008 influenced the low production of grains of the genotypes.O presente estudo teve como objetivo a avaliação participativa de genótipos locais e melhorados de feijoeiro associados às condições agroclimáticas em sistema de cultivo orgânico. O trabalho conjunto entre o setor formal e o setor informal, geralmente representado pelas comunidades rurais, pode contribuir no uso e conservação de germoplasma adaptado aos agroecossistemas das comunidades agrícolas e, além disso, o melhoramento participativo é sem dúvida uma excelente estratégia para o desenvolvimento sustentável de comunidades de agricultores familiares, pois o agricultor passa a ser corresponsável pela pesquisa deixando de ser um elemento passivo dentro do processo. Os experimentos foram conduzidos em condições de campo, sob cultivo orgânico, na comunidade agrícola de Fortaleza, situada no município de Muqui-ES. Foram utilizados 39 genótipos entre cultivares melhorados que são cultivados na região e genótipos locais, nos anos de 2006, 2007 e 2008. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o de blocos ao acaso, com quatro repetições. Foi verificado que nos anos de 2006, 2007 e 2008 houve poucas diferenças entre os genótipos nas características avaliadas, exceto para a produção de grãos. A baixa precipitação no ano de 2006 e as altas temperaturas no ano de 2008 influenciaram a baixa produção de grãos dos genótipos
Morphological characterization of fruits and seeds of Ruellia furcata (Nees) Lindau (Acanthaceae) from Espírito Santo State, Brazil
Acanthaceae is a wide spread family with usually capsular fruits, with two valves and explosive dehiscence containing two or more seeds. The morphological features of fruits and seeds are important in the identification at supra especific level, since they vary morphologically. Thus, this study aimed to characterize the morphology of the fruits and seeds of Ruellia furcata. This species is endemic to Brazil and restrict to restinga areas. The collection was carried out with the aid of a gauze type fabric. The fruits were measured in length of the sterile and fertile portion, total length, width, thickness, and retinacula height. The seeds were measured in length, width and thickness. For description, internal and external details were pointed. The fruits and seeds of R. furcata present morphological features that are commonly found in the genus however, its characteristics allow it to be positioned taxonomically and provide an understanding of its dispersion
CARACTERIZAÇÃO E SELEÇÃO DE MARCADORES MOLECULARES ISSR EM ESPÉCIES DE Passiflora spp.
The objective to be achieved with the search for molecular markers of low cost and good reproducibility for the selection and genetic characterization of passion fruit was to select ISSR (Inter Simple Sequence Repeat) primers for different unimproved varieties and cultivars of Passiflora, in order to subsidize molecular genetic studies. To achieve this goal, 23 ISSR starters were tested for eight unimproved varieties and 12 cultivars of Passiflora spp. The amplifications were obtained by electrophoresis on 2% agarose gel, photocumented under transilluminator with ultraviolet light. The ISSR primers showed satisfactory results. Among the 23 primers, 16 obtained values above 60% of efficiency when classified as good (presence of two marks or more). As a consequence of the results presented, it can be attested that such primers are suitable for studies of polymorphism, structure and genetic diversity in species of the Passiflora genus, in addition to assisting conservation and breeding programs.As espécies do gênero Passiflora são amplamente distribuídas no território brasileiro, sendo algumas delas utilizadas na indústria, nos setores de ornamentação, farmacêutico e alimentício. Concomitante ao interesse econômico, o gênero, possui importância ecológica, devido à grande diversidade de espécies silvestres. Desta forma, o conhecimento molecular do maracujazeiro traz benefícios para os programas de melhoramento e conservação dessas espécies. Com finalidade de produzir dados e gerar subsídios em estudos genéticos de maracujazeiro, foram caracterizados e selecionados 23 iniciadores ISSR (Inter Simple Sequence Repeat) para 8 espécies de Passiflora spp. e 12 cultivares (BRS). Foi utilizado gel de agarose a 2% e luz ultravioleta para amplificação e visualização dos produtos amplificados. Os iniciadores ISSR apresentaram resultados satisfatórios, dentre os 23 iniciadores, 16 obtiveram valores acima de 60% de eficiência na classificação como bom (presença de 2 marcas ou mais). Em decorrência dos resultados apresentados, pode-se atestar que, tais iniciadores são adequados para estudos de polimorfismo, estrutura e diversidade genética em espécies do gênero Passiflora, além de, auxiliar programas de conservação e melhoramento
Low strain integrity tests in piles – 1-D and 3-D numerical modeling and comparisons with results obtained in the field
The risks associated with integrity problems in piles led to the inclusion of this matter in international standards. One of the tests available to evaluate piles integrity is known as low strain integrity test. Low costs, simple and fast execution and no waste generation are some of the main advantages of this test. However, between others, soil and reinforcement of the pile may affect the results and cause some difficulty to interpret them. In this paper two numerical models based on Finite Elements Method are presented: 1-D and 3-D. The results obtained in the numerical simulations of the tests are compared with those obtained in the field with focus in two main aspects: the signals attenuation effects and the reflections in the transition between the reinforced part of the pile and the part in simple concrete
Análise morfológica foliar por diafanização, morfometria dos órgãos vegetativos, composição fitoquímica dos extratos etanólicos e atividade hemolítica em Sinningia elatior (Kunth) Chautems (Gesneriaceae)
A presença de Sinningia elatior (Kunth) Chautems (Gesneriaceae) é citada pela primeira vez na flora da região Centro-Oeste em Goiás, Brasil. Foram realizadas coletas de plantas inteiras de S. elatior em área de mata de galeria. O material foi levado para o laboratório onde foi separado por órgão vegetativo (rizoma, galho, folha e flor). Foram realizadas análises de diafanização foliar, morfometria dos órgãos vegetais, o pólen foi avaliado por modelagem matemática em 3D e para os extratos, análises físico-química, fitoquímica e hemolítica. As plantas de S. elatior apresentaram em todos os órgãos superiores a presença tricomas tectores, com inervação até 5ª ordem, os estômatos são do tipo anisocíticos, para a fitoquímica, todas as classes de compostos foram positivas, exceto para resinas. Os extratos etanólicos de S. elatior demonstraram importante ação hemolítica no tempo máximo de 5 minutos. Os resultados obtidos neste estudo para S. elatior apresentaram importantes dados morfológicos, morfométricos para os órgãos aéreo e subterrâneo, e importantes classes de compostos fitoquímicos com importância nas indústrias agrícola, farmacêutica e alimentícia
Development of the tape pH indicator acid-basic from açai pulp extract
Euterpe oleracea Mart. known as acai, it is a palm of bacaceous fruit, distributed throughout Brazil in states such as Amazonas, Pará, Maranhão, Rondônia and Tocantins. The objective of this work was to produce an acid-base indicator strip from the hydroalcoholic extract of the pulp of Euterpe oleracea Mart. to determine acidity by colorimetric method, also seeking to develop in a simple, fast and low cost, being an alternative way to be used in teaching Chemistry in experimental practical classes with the subject covered in Inorganic Functions in Teaching: Elementary, Middle and Higher. The methodology used was carried out in stages: (i) obtaining the acai pulp from the fruits of the açaizeiro, (ii) obtaining the extract from the pulp of Euterpe oleracea Mart., (iii) building a pH scale (0- 14), (iv) obtaining a pH paper from the hydroalcoholic extract, (v) identification of acidic and basic substances in everyday use with both the extract and the pH indicator paper, (vi) determining the acetic acid content in commercial vinegars, and (vii) a comparison of the results obtained from% acetic acid, both with the synthetic indicator (phenolphthalein) and with the natural indicator. Through the tests with the tape and with the pulp extract of Euterpe oleracea Mart. satisfactory results were obtained. Thus, the pH tape and the Euterpe oleracea Mart. pulp extract identified the acidic, basic and neutral substances of everyday life, showing an alternative for teaching with practical experimental chemistry classes, being financially viable, and exploring an application of Euterpe oleracea Mart. pulp. as forest treasure for future industrial applications, such as the production of a pH indicator strip
