Configuration Assessment of Deter-RT: a New SAR-Based Automated Deforestation Detection System in the Amazon
No full textDeter-RT é um novo sistema para detecção automática de desmatamento na Amazônia, com alta capacidade de personalização conforme as necessidades do usuário. Este estudo comparou nove configurações do sistema, combinando três valores do fator que regula a otimização espacial entre ecorregiões e três cenários de aplicação de filtros morfológicos. Os resultados foram avaliados pelos índices omissão, comissão, número de intersecções e formato. Os testes (2022–2023) mostraram que maiores valores do fator aumentaram os erros de omissão e reduziram os de comissão, enquanto o filtro melhorou os índices de geometria dos polígonos. A configuração preferida adota valores do fator empiricamente estimados e o novo filtro morfológico proposto (T8). Outros dois cenários, um com diferenças no filtro (T5) e um com fatores mais conservadores (T7), apresentaram resultados de qualidade semelhante.Deter-RT is a new system for automatic deforestation detection in the Amazon, offering high customization to user needs. Tentacular Aesthetics: Artistic Encounters beyond the Human
No full textThis article discusses how artworks can raise empathy for octopuses by means of documenting, storytelling, and strategic anthropomorphism. Formerly, octopuses have mostly been depicted for their ornamental, decorative, and symbolic value. But in the light of a new sensibility for more-than-human lives in the Anthropocene (or rather Chthulucene), a new generation of artists stresses the intelligence and sentience of these invertebrates who have long been regarded as the absolute other. No full textThis work is a collection of eight fictional videos about life in the state of Bahia, especially in areas close to rivers. Various cultural elements are presented and discussed throughout the text, in a poetic construction focused on elements that make up the universe of urban waters, such as bridges, boats and people in transit. The theoretical framework on which I base this work consists of theories of Vilém Flusser on the black box, Philippe Dubois on exhibition cinema and Kossoy on fiction in photography.Esse trabalho é uma coleção de oito vídeos que retratam de forma ficcional a vida no interior da Bahia, especialmente nas zonas próximas de rios. Diversos elementos culturais são apresentados e discutidos ao longo do texto, numa construção poética focada em elementos que compõem o universo das águas urbanas, como pontes, barcos e pessoas em trânsito. Como referencial teórico, baseio-me nas teorias de Vilém Flusser sobre a caixa preta, de Philippe Dubois sobre cinema de exposição e de Boris Kossoy sobre a ficção na fotografia. Ainda, reflito sobre como as redes sociais estão afetando nossa forma de produção de imagens

No full textThe article takes as its starting point the viral image of the "caramel horse" stranded on a rooftop during a flood in Brazil, exploring the impact of horses on the collective imagination, particularly within the Western context and amidst the urgency of climate emergencies. Based on Aby Warburg and John Berger ideas, it examines how artistic representations – from the Classical Tradition to contemporary times – have shaped human identification with the horse, positioning it as an ambivalent symbol of power, freedom, and vulnerability.O artigo tem como ponto de partida a imagem viral do "cavalo caramelo" isolado em um telhado durante uma enchente no Brasil para investigar o impacto dos equinos no imaginário coletivo, especialmente no contexto ocidental e de emergência climática. Com base nas reflexões de Aby Warburg e John Berger, analisa-se como as representações artísticas, da Tradição Clássica ao contemporâneo, moldaram a identificação humana com o cavalo, consolidando-o como um símbolo ambivalente de poder, liberdade e vulnerabilidade
Women and stones: Some artistic rituals for reconnecting with the Earth
No full textDepuis les temps anciens, les pierres sont des composantes essentielles à l’expérience de rituels magiques ou religieux, dont certaines traces modèlent encore aujourd’hui les territoires. Les artistes ont quant à eux toujours manipulé des objets minéraux, en tant que sujets de représentation, éléments sculpturaux ou faisant partie d’œuvres-récits. Cet article se penche plus particulièrement sur les œuvres performatives de femmes artistes qui revisitent les savoirs ancestraux et les pratiques rituelles. À travers l’analyse des emprunts artistiques aux formes rituelles anciennes, nous interrogerons la manière dont ces œuvres proposent des modalités de reconnexion à la Terre, tout en élaborant de nouveaux imaginaires spirituels.Since ancient times, stones have been essential components of magical and religious rituals, traces of which still shape the landscape today. Artists, for their part, have always manipulated mineral objects, using them as subjects for representation, sculptural elements, or parts of narrative works. This article focuses in particular on the performative works of women artists who revisit ancestral knowledge and ritual practices. Through an analysis of artistic borrowings from ancient ritual forms, we will examine how these works propose ways of reconnecting with the Earth, while developing new spiritual imaginaries
A APRENDIZAGEM DA LIBRAS COMO POSSIBILIDADE PARA UM ENSINO DE INCLUSÃO
No full textEste artigo apresenta uma discussão a respeito da importância de reconhecer a Língua Brasileira de Sinais como a língua materna das pessoas surdas. Dessa forma, ao reconhecer tal importância, faz-se necessário que os sujeitos ouvintes busquem aprendê-la. Assim sendo, este trabalho busca refletir sobre a aprendizagem da Língua Brasileira de Sinais (Libras) como uma possibilidade de garantir um ensino de qualidade e inclusivo aos estudantes surdos da educação básica. A pesquisa é de caráter teórico e, também, constitui-se como bibliográfica, visto que apresenta materiais que estudam, analisam e discutem sobre a temática abordada nesta pesquisa, trazendo conceitos e teorias existentes. Fundamenta-se, principalmente, pelas teorizações de Kendrick; Cruz, (2020); Costa; Araújo (2021); Baiense; Machado; Silva (2023). Conclui-se que é importante os docentes da educação básica e, de forma gradual, toda a comunidade escolar reconhecerem a importância da aprendizagem de Libras pelos discentes ouvintes, visando proporcionar um ensino-aprendizagem significativo a todos os formandos da escola, garantindo a inclusão significativa das pessoas surdas
THE USE OF SCHOOL GARDENS AS AN ACTIVE METHODOLOGY STRATEGY IN THE TEACHING-LEARNING PROCESS
No full textEm um cenário de crescente valorização das metodologias ativas, as hortas escolares destacam-se como descobertas inovadoras que integram teoria e prática e contribuem para a formação crítica e o desenvolvimento integral dos estudantes. Este estudo analisa a relevância da implementação de uma horta escolar como estratégia pedagógica para dinamizar o processo de ensino-aprendizagem, promover a educação ambiental e incentivar a interdisciplinaridade. Para atingir esse objetivo, apresenta abordagem metodológica quali-quantitativa que incluiu revisão bibliográfica, aplicação de questionários à equipe de docentes e discentes, além da observação sistemática das atividades práticas realizadas na Escola Estadual Maria da Conceição Rodrigues Avelar, na cidade de Montes Claros-MG. Os resultados demonstraram que a prática das hortas escolares favoreceu a integração entre os diferentes componentes curriculares, aumentou o engajamento dos estudantes e contribuiu para o aprimoramento de competências socioemocionais e de consciência ambiental. Observou-se ainda, uma melhoria na percepção dos participantes sobre a importância de hábitos alimentares saudáveis e na valorização do meio ambiente, o que evidenciou o potencial transformador dessa iniciativa. Em conclusão, os dados indicam que a implementação de hortas escolares é uma estratégia eficaz para fomentar metodologias ativas e promover uma educação mais dinâmica e contextualizada. Os resultados reforçam a necessidade de expandir projetos semelhantes, fortalecer a integração entre teoria e prática e estimular a formação de cidadãos críticos e comprometidos com a sustentabilidade.In a scenario of growing appreciation of active methodologies, school gardens stand out as innovative discoveries that integrate theory and practice and contribute to the critical formation and integral development of students. This study analyzes the relevance of the implementation of a school garden as a pedagogical strategy to streamline the teaching-learning process, promote environmental education and encourage interdisciplinarity. To achieve this objective, it presents a qualitative-quantitative methodological approach that included a bibliographic review, application of questionnaires to the team of teachers and students, in addition to the systematic observation of the practical activities carried out at the Maria da Conceição Rodrigues Avelar State School, in the city of Montes Claros- MG. The results showed that the practice of school gardens favored the integration between the different curricular components, increased student engagement and contributed to the improvement of socio-emotional skills and environmental awareness. An improvement in the participants\u27 perception of the importance of healthy eating habits and appreciation of the environment was also observed, which highlighted the transformative potential of this initiative. In conclusion, the data indicate that the implementation of school gardens is an effective strategy to foster active methodologies and promote a more dynamic and contextualized education. The results reinforce the need to expand similar projects, strengthen the integration between theory and practice, and stimulate the formation of critical citizens committed to sustainability
ANALYSIS OF PRODUCTIONS ON TEACHING IN THE EARLY YEARS PRESENT IN THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE 15TH NATIONAL MEETING OF TEACHING PRACTICE IN GEOGRAPHY (ENPEG)
No full textO presente artigo tem por objetivo analisar a produção recente que versa sobre a docência em Geografia nos anos iniciais do ensino fundamental. A pesquisa, de abordagem qualitativa e de cunho bibliográfico documental, tem como aporte as produções publicadas sobre o ensino de Geografia nos anos iniciais, no 15º Encontro Nacional de Prática de Ensino de Geografia (ENPEG), ocorrido em 2022. A seleção desses trabalhos efetuou-se pela presença, no título e/ou palavras-chave, do descritor “anos iniciais”. Do total de 404 trabalhos partilhados nos Anais, foram identificadas doze publicações sobre anos iniciais, distribuídas por todas as regiões brasileiras. Foram priorizadas, na leitura das publicações, três categorias de análise: diferentes linguagens no ensino de Geografia, questões curriculares e formação de professores. Os resultados apontam para a necessidade de uma formação inicial que possibilite compreender a importância do ensino de Geografia, o entendimento dos conceitos fundamentais desta ciência, bem como as diferentes metodologias para se desenvolver a leitura de mundo nos alunos dos anos iniciais do ensino fundamental.This article aims to analyze recent production that deals with teaching Geography in the early years of elementary school. The research, with a qualitative approach and a documentary bibliographic nature, is based on productions published on the teaching of Geography in the initial years, at the 15th National Meeting of Geography Teaching Practice (ENPEG), held in 2022. These works were selected based on the presence, in the title and/or keywords, of the descriptor “initial years”. Of the total of 404 works shared in the Annals, twelve publications on early years were identified, distributed across all Brazilian regions. When reading the publications, three categories of analysis were prioritized: different languages in Geography teaching, curricular issues and teacher training. The results point to the need for initial training that makes it possible to understand the importance of teaching Geography, the understanding of the fundamental concepts of this science, as well as the different methodologies to develop the reading of the world in students in the early years of elementary school
