Assessing the Efficacy of Telemedicine for Managing Chronic Illnesses in Younger Adults with Type 2 Diabetes
Telemedicine is transforming chronic disease management, particularly for younger adults with Type 2 Diabetes. This investigation evaluates its efficacy in improving glycemic control, adherence, and lifestyle changes compared to traditional care. To assess the effectiveness of telemedicine for managing Type 2 Diabetes in younger adults by evaluating health outcomes, patient engagement, and satisfaction. Data from 200 participants\u27 intervention and control is collected at four periods (Baseline, 3, 6, and 12 months); data collection can be conducted via surveys. Key variables include HbA1c levels, medication adherence, patient engagement score, lifestyle changes score, and satisfaction with care. These variables assess the impact of telemedicine on diabetes management compared to standard in-person healthcare approaches. Using IBM SPSS 26, paired t-tests analyze intra-group HbA1c changes, ANOVA compares multi-period variations, and logistic regression determines adherence predictors. Preliminary findings suggested that telemedicine improves HbA1c levels, engagement, and adherence, though lifestyle changes vary significantly across participants. Telemedicine effectively improved diabetes management outcomes, showing significant gains in HbA1c reduction (88%), medication adherence (85%), and patient engagement (82%). Findings support telemedicine as a viable alternative to in-person care, though further analyses should explore long-term impacts and scalability challenges
Evaluation of the Alveolar Fossa Microenvironment for Enhancing Tooth Root Regeneration Using Stem Cells
The microenvironment in the alveolar fossa possesses a fundamental significance in tooth root regeneration processes. The behavior of stem cells is directly affected by pH values together with oxygen levels alongside nutritional supplies and scaffolds or growth factors. Research used 47 participants to investigate how different conditions found in the alveolar fossa impact stem cell-based tooth root regeneration through statistical assessment of relevant microenvironmental influences. These factors require optimal adjustment to achieve better therapeutic results in dental tissue engineering. Under laboratory conditions, the cell cultures received different microenvironmental conditions that included three pH levels (6.5, 7.0, and 7.4) together with various oxygen levels and scaffold types. Research used paired t-test procedures to check pre- and post-intervention shifts with ANOVA and subsequent post hoc testing to distinguish between groups together with multiple linear regressions to evaluate collective variables\u27 impact on regeneration results. Research assessed results through measurements of cellular proliferation alongside differentiation signs and tissue regrowth size. Significant differences in stem cell proliferation and differentiation were observed across microenvironmental conditions. Post hoc analysis identified hypoxic conditions combined with scaffold material A as the most conducive for regeneration. Multiple linear regressions indicated that pH and oxygen concentration were the most influential factors, contributing to 65% of the variability in regeneration outcomes. The alveolar fossa microenvironment significantly affects tooth root regeneration. Optimized conditions, particularly hypoxia and neutral pH, enhance stem cell-based regenerative outcomes. These findings offer insights into tailoring microenvironments for clinical applications in regenerative dentistry
Stem Cell-Based Cartilage Engineering Approaches for Osteochondral Defect Regeneration and Functional Tissue Repair
Osteochondral defects offer important concerns in orthopedic medicine suitable to the restricted self-curing ability of cartilage. Stem cell-based cartilage engineering has emerged as a capable method for OC defect regeneration and functional tissue repair. Research explores the SDSCs-based cartilage engineering approaches for OC defect regeneration and functional tissue repair. Rabbit knee joints are used to separate SDSCs, which are then grown to passage 5 and added to a fibrin glue- PGA scaffold. The designed premature cartilage constructions are transplanted into rabbit femoral condyle defects following 50 days of in vitro stimulation in a growth factor-enriched environment. Research evaluated two groups: the Construct Group, where SDSC-engineered premature cartilage is implanted with Collagraft as a bone alternate, and the Empty Group, where defects are left untreated. The data is analyzed using statistical evaluation performed with SPSS software. Histological analysis showed that SDSCs effectively underwent chondrocyte differentiation, merging with native cartilage and generating collagen III and sulfated GAG. While the Empty Group generated fibrocartilage, indicating worse regeneration, the Construct Group showed uniform hyaline-like cartilage with strong collagen III and GAG expression and no detectable collagen I or macrophages at eight months after implantation. These results demonstrate the viability of using SDSC-based synthetic cartilage to heal OC defects
Educate for peace in countries at war through united nations peace missions and the Ecuadorian contribution
In this study, the contributions of Ecuador to peace education in conflict-affected countries were examined, especially through its participation in United Nations (UN) peacekeeping missions. A systematic literature review was conducted, analyzing a wide range of academic sources and official UN documents related to this topic. Innovative training programs and pedagogical approaches focused on conflict resolution skills development, promotion of human rights, and fostering intercultural dialogue were identified. The results revealed that Ecuadorian personnel deployed in these missions received recognition both locally and internationally for their commitment to human rights respect and their ability to work in hostile and diverse environments. However, challenges and areas for improvement were also identified, including the need for more comprehensive evaluation of the long-term impact of peace education initiatives and greater coordination among different stakeholders. In conclusion, the importance of strengthening monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of educational interventions in the context of peacekeeping missions is emphasized. Further research is recommended to delve into the effectiveness of implemented programs and establish strategic partnerships with other international and local actors to promote lasting positive change in communities affected by violence and war
Fundamentals and applications of research methodology: Approaches, phases and scientific validity
Introduction: The study of research methodology is essential to guarantee the quality and validity of scientific knowledge. The correct application of methodological principles allows structuring rigorous and reliable research, avoiding errors in the formulation of the problem, the selection of the approach and the interpretation of the results.Methods: A documentary review was carried out based on academic sources specializing in research methodology. Different methodological approaches, the phases of the research process and the importance of the theoretical framework were analyzed. Key texts were selected using criteria of relevance, timeliness and academic rigor.Results: Three predominant methodological approaches were identified: quantitative, qualitative and mixed, each with its advantages and limitations. In addition, the fundamental phases of the research process and the relevance of the theoretical framework in the validity of the study were established. Challenges were also evident in methodological training and in the integration of mixed approaches.Conclusions: Research methodology is an essential pillar in the generation of knowledge. The correct selection of the approach and the adequate theoretical foundation strengthen the validity of the studies. It is recommended to improve methodological training and explore new strategies to optimize investigative processes
Health Information System of the "Dr. Salvador Allende" Clinical Surgical Teaching Hospital
Introduction: The Health Information System (HIS) is a set of integrated elements designed for the collection, processing, analysis, and transmission of information necessary to organize and operate health services, research, and planning for the control of health events. Objective: To characterize the Health Information System of the "Dr. Salvador Allende" Clinical Surgical Teaching Hospital in the year 2023. Method: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on the status of the Health Information System at the "Dr. Salvador Allende" Clinical Surgical Teaching Hospital in 2023. The study considered the development status of the components of an HIS based on the methodology of the Italian Hospital of Buenos Aires. Interviews were conducted with the hospital officials responsible for each system associated with these components. Results: The main difficulties identified in the institution regarding the implementation of a computerized HIS were related to components that include staff training, willingness to change, the projection of strategies for implementation, and the commitment of management and workers to the process. Increased efforts in this regard are necessary to maintain the available technology and organizational culture at an adequate level of functioning. Conclusions: The status of the hospital\u27s HIS in 2023 was characterized, identifying the strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement of its components
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: A Holistic Approach. Part 2
Introduction: Intelligence has been a fundamental object of study within psychology and other sciences, evolving in its definition and measurement. During the 20th century, the intelligence quotient (IQ) was consolidated as a method of cognitive evaluation, based on the work of Binet and Simon, later perfected by Terman. However, various approaches have questioned the validity of IQ as the only indicator of intelligence, postulating alternative models such as Gardner\u27s theory of multiple intelligences and Sternberg\u27s triarchic theory.Development: of the concept of intelligence has been explored through various theories and psychometric tests. Since the creation of the first tests, IQ measurement has been refined, including instruments such as the Stanford-Binet Scale and the Wechsler Scale. These tests have made it possible to assess general cognitive abilities, but they have also generated controversy regarding their application and validity in different contexts.The assessment of IQ has evolved over time, incorporating factors such as working memory, processing speed and verbal comprehension. Intelligence, rather than a unitary capacity, is now understood as a set of interrelated abilities. Likewise, the importance of the sociocultural context in its development has been emphasized, highlighting the influence of education and the environment.Conclusions: The study of intelligence has moved from traditional psychometric models towards more integrative approaches. Current understanding recognizes that intelligence is multifaceted, influenced by biological, psychological and environmental factors. Future research will continue to explore new, more inclusive and representative forms of assessment
The impact of generational differences in the work environment: bibliometric analysis and systematic review in Scopus
The objective of the study is to conduct a systematic bibliometric study of literature on the impact of generational differences in the work environment between 2004 and 2024. This work used bibliometrics as a methodology, which involved the observation of bibliometric indicators in Scopus (country, author, source, type of document, institutional affiliation, among others). In addition, a systematic review of the literature was carried out. The results show that between 2020 and 2024, there was a 29% increase in the amount of research on this topic. In terms of research contributions, the United States ranks first with 31.1%. In addition, with seven publications, the most prominent source was the Journal of Nursing Management, and with 698 citations Lyons was the most cited author. Likewise, articles related to the social sciences represented 22% of the total number of publications, while 92% of the documents were scientific articles. It is concluded that research on generational differences in the work environment has advanced, in terms of the breadth of topics addressed, collaboration of authors, level of international cooperation and availability of relevant data. Therefore, the bibliometric analysis and systematic review shows that, while the coexistence of diverse generations can generate tensions and challenges related to values, communication and expectations, it also offers a unique opportunity to enrich organizational dynamics. Finally, this study provides an empirical basis for a critical evaluation of the research and a foundation for future research
Enhancing Pedagogic Practice: A Review of Educational Processes
This paper focuses on the improvement process in the educational setting, highlighting the importance of the participation of various agents, including students, parents, teachers, principals and other educational professionals. The improvement process is based on the continuous review and evaluation of educational practice, with the aim of identifying areas for improvement and addressing them effectively. The paper describes the different stages of the improvement process, starting with the identification of areas for improvement through data collection and analysis. These data are used to produce evidence-based reports that serve as the basis for planning necessary improvements. During improvement planning, areas for improvement are prioritized and action plans are designed to address them. The implementation of improvements involves the implementation of the action plans, with a focus on gathering evidence to assess the impact of the improvements. The improvement process is seen as a continuous cycle, with constant review and feedback to further adjust and improve educational practices. The paper also highlights the importance of the involvement of review and improvement groups throughout the process, as they help to identify problems, needs and areas for improvement, as well as to make evidence-based decisions. Several techniques and tools are mentioned, such as brainstorming, review guide, time profiles and cause-effect diagrams, which are used in the process of data collection and analysis. In conclusion, the importance of an evidence-based approach in the educational improvement process, with the active participation of multiple stakeholders and constant feedback to achieve higher quality education is emphasized. Integrating Clinical Data and Advanced Analytics for Accurate Readmission Predictions in Heart Failure
Heart failure (HF) is a chronic and progressive condition that significantly impacts healthcare systems worldwide due to high hospitalization and readmission rates. Traditional prediction models frequently rely on clinical assessments and historical data, but they cannot provide the accuracy required for effective intervention. Integrating clinical data with advanced analytics offers a promising approach to improving readmission prediction models, enabling targeted interventions for high-risk patients. The research aimed to develop an accurate 30 days and 60 days readmission prediction model for HF patients using clinical data and deep learning (DL) techniques. An Efficient Cockroach Swarm-tuned Deep Belief Network (ECS-DBN) model is provided to predict the risk of readmission in heart failure patients. The dataset included HF clinical information in readmissions. The dataset included health records, diagnostic test results, treatment history, and patient demographics. Data cleaning and normalization are performed to ensure accuracy and consistency. Efficient cockroach swarm optimization is employed to fine-tune the hyperparameters of the DBN, enhancing its predictive accuracy and computational efficiency of readmission in heart failure patients. An ideal categorization threshold was established based on anticipated cost reductions, and performance was evaluated using the correlation statistic. The ECS-DBN model outperformed other techniques, achieving a high accuracy (0.96), recall (0.63), precision (0.97), F1-Score (0.65) and recall (0.63) compared to the conventional method in 60 days. The results show that using advanced analytics to analyze clinical data enhances the prediction of readmission in patients with HF. By identifying high-risk individuals early on, the suggested paradigm optimizes healthcare by enabling focused interventions and improving clinical outcomes
