Protocol for oncology nursing in patients in clinical trials
Get PDFThe protocol in Nursing is the set of actions that serve as a strategy to unify criteria and jointly agree on the approach to different techniques, therapies and/or nursing problems, based on the most recent scientific evidence. Its constant updating and development has allowed its frontiers to expand to new applications in the field of oncology, objective. To provide nursing staff with a methodological tool to facilitate the well-being and quality of life of patients with cancer in clinical trials. Method. An update of the nursing action protocols and a review of the literature in the outpatient chemotherapy room was carried out during the period from January 2019 to July 2024. The NANDA, NIC, NOC taxonomies were used to carry out the care process.Results. The nursing care plan functions as a necessary means of communication for patient care, with planning and compliance based on nursing diagnoses. The most frequent symptoms presented in these patients were: bone marrow involvement, nausea and vomiting, stomatitis, diarrhea, neuropathy and stress, for which a course of action was established.Conclusions. Nursing action protocols constitute a work tool and health education, training and specialized care are fundamental pillars to achieve a safe and effective treatment
Emerging technologies in Health Information Systems: transformation towards intelligent systems
Get PDFIntroduction: Information management is crucial for decision-making in a dynamic environment. Information systems are essential for storing, processing, and distributing data, becoming a critical economic resource. In this context, intelligent information systems, which incorporate artificial intelligence, offer advanced solutions for data analysis and management in the healthcare sector. Objective: To explain the importance of intelligent information systems in healthcare based on the development of emerging technologies. Method: A comprehensive literature review on intelligent information systems was conducted using databases such as Scopus, SciELO, and Google Scholar. Fifteen relevant sources were selected, including scientific articles and books published between 2020 and 2024. Development: Intelligent information systems not only collect data but also use advanced technologies such as machine learning to enhance decision-making. In healthcare, they enable in-depth analysis of medical data, identifying patterns that impact diagnosis and treatment. Telemedicine has emerged as a key application that facilitates access to healthcare in underserved areas. Conclusions: The integration of intelligent information systems in healthcare transforms medical data management. However, implementation faces challenges such as staff training and data protection. Addressing these challenges is essential to maximize benefits and ensure more efficient and personalized healthcare
HIV Prevention in Men Who Have Sex with Men: Challenges and StrategiesFactores
No full textIntroductionHuman Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) has represented a serious public health problem worldwide. Despite advances in its prevention and treatment, it continues to affect millions of people, especially key populations, such as Men who have Sex with Men (MSM). In Mexico, MSM have presented a significantly higher risk of infection compared to other population groups. This phenomenon has been attributed to biological, psychological, social and structural factors that increase the vulnerability of this population.DevelopmentCondoms have been identified as an effective tool in HIV prevention, as they significantly reduce the risk of transmission. However, its use has faced several barriers, including behavioral aspects, lack of access to quality condoms and social norms that discourage its use. In addition, HIV has evolved since its discovery in the 1980s, presenting different stages of development, means of transmission and diagnostic strategies. Antiretroviral treatment has managed to improve the quality of life of people with HIV, although its effectiveness has been influenced by multiple factors. Several theoretical models have attempted to explain HIV risk behavior and prevention, allowing a comprehensive approach to address the problem in MSM.ConclusionHIV prevention in MSM has required the implementation of strategies that address biological, psychological and social factors. It is crucial to strengthen sex education, improve access to condoms and reduce discrimination affecting this population
Intellectual Quotient and Cognitive Indices in children with and without ADHD in the city of Tepatitlán de Morelos, Jalisco
Get PDFAttention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that is between 5 and 8% of the child population. It was classified clinically by the presence of attention deficit, hyperactivity and impulsivity. Recent research will indicate the presence and the increase in time in school activities in the region of Los Altos de Jalisco, which points to the need to obtain a precise cognitive profile in this regard. With the previous objective, we describe the results of the Intelligence Scale for Children, Fourth Edition (WISC-IV), applied to children with ADHD and children without the disorder, including the range of 6-11 years of age, in a population total of 89 children, 44 with ADHD (49.4%) and 45 without ADHD (50.6%), of these, 62 (69.66%) correspond to the male sex and 27 (30.33%) are female, using statistical analyzes Levene for equality of variances, test for equality of means and Pearson\u27s correlation coefficient (p). The results are not shown. The results are differentiated between the Work Memory Index (IMT), Perceptual Reasoning (IRP), Verbal Comprehension (ICV) and the Total Intellectual Coefficient (CIT). However, if it occurred (0.036 T <0.05). This result is significant to characterize the ADHD group with a cognitive level with a higher IVP score, unlike the group without ADHD. However, a significant index of the same index (IVP) was also identified in the correlation in the increase in age (closer to 11 years of the 6-11 range) in subjects with ADHD (0.006 p <0.01). , which is an important finding to identify a cognitive profile of the disorder in the region
Evaluating District-Level Medical Training Programs and Their Impact on Healthcare Service Delivery
Get PDFThe objective of this research is to investigate how district-level medical training programs influence the quality of health care provided. Making healthcare more accessible, better, and better for people\u27s overall health depends much on local medical training programs. District-level programs have a special opportunity to raise the competency of the local workforce as the need for healthcare professionals in underdeveloped regions increases. Results of this research examine how these initiatives assist medical professionals, particularly in rural and isolated places, and how that influences the provision of healthcare services. The research used a mixed-methods approach, therefore combining qualitative and quantitative data. Surveys and interviews with regional health authorities, medical students, and healthcare professionals helped one ascertain the effectiveness of training programs. Among the elements used for the evaluation were improvements in medical knowledge, professional competency, patient satisfaction, and the overall efficacy of healthcare services. The report also examines issues that training initiatives encounter, including lack of resources, ensuring the teachings are applicable, and maintaining trained personnel. Particularly in diagnostic accuracy, emergency treatment, and patient management, the data reveal that district-level training programs improve healthcare services considerably. Still, issues like poor facilities and insufficient resources for instructors still remain. The findings highlight the significance of ensuring that treatments are fit for the demands of rural health systems and that infrastructure and training be regularly invested in so that these programs may have the greatest long-lasting impact
Advisory committees in postgraduate courses in public universities in Mexico. Scoping normative review
Get PDFIn point 2 of paragraph b) of section 6, corresponding to the characteristics of the evaluation elements contemplated within the evaluation criteria of the National System of Researchers in force since 2023, it was established that participation in Advisory committees is considered a valid element of activities to strengthen and consolidate the community of humanities, science, technology, and innovation.However, the legal ordinance lacks clarity regarding the definition of "Advisory committee" This research analyzed the regulations applicable to postgraduate programs in public universities of Mexican states using a scoping normative review methodology.The results indicate a lack of uniformity in implementing this collegiate body, primarily due to each public institution of higher education (IES) exercising university autonomy, which enables the independent establishment of its normative, academic, or administrative regulations.Strengthening the normative framework that regulates tutorial committees in Mexican IES is necessary. Establishing clear criteria for their terminology, constitution, and operation is essential to guaranteeing equity in the evaluation and academic recognition processes

HIV Intervention Strategies in Angola: Impact and Challenges
Get PDFHIV/AIDS has been a global health crisis since its identification in 1981, affecting sub-Saharan Africa in particular. Angola has faced multiple challenges in its control, including limited access to diagnostic tests, a shortage of medicines and sociocultural barriers that make it difficult to adhere to antiretroviral treatment. Between 2022 and 2024, the country implemented strategies to improve care and reduce stigmatisation. The study addressed the impact of HIV on Angolan public health and the effectiveness of a group intervention at the Moxico Municipal Hospital. This strategy led to improvements in therapeutic adherence and a reduction in the viral load of patients. Furthermore, the combination of multidisciplinary approaches, community education and psychological support proved to be key to optimising the quality of life of people with HIV. Despite the progress made, access to information and health services continues to be a challenge in Angola. Factors such as low levels of education and poverty limit the effectiveness of prevention programmes. The group intervention showed that psychosocial and educational support helps to reduce discrimination and increase community integration. It is recommended that these strategies be strengthened and replicated in other regions of the country
Community Strategies to Improve Therapeutic Adherence and the Quality of Life of PLWHA in Angola
Get PDFThe HIV/AIDS epidemic has been a public health challenge, affecting sub-Saharan Africa in particular. In Angola, the province of Moxico has faced structural difficulties that have limited access to treatment. Between 2022 and 2024, the Moxico Municipal Hospital implemented a group intervention to improve the quality of life of people with HIV. This strategy included educational sessions and emotional support to strengthen adherence to antiretroviral treatment (ART). Before the intervention, only 35% of patients complied with ART, increasing to 90% after the programme was implemented. Furthermore, more than 90% of participants achieved undetectable viral load levels, reducing the risk of transmission. The programme also addressed stigma and discrimination, promoting the social integration of patients. Healthcare personnel were trained and educational strategies were developed adapted to the cultural and linguistic context of the region. Despite the challenges, the intervention proved to be effective and replicable in other regions
Academic exposure in women\u27s health in a private college in the city of Jacareí: an experience report
Get PDFIntroduction: Research in academia is increasingly present through the development of projects, papers, exhibitions and events promoted by universities and colleges. To present the experience lived by the nursing students in the development of the academic activity of educational action to women\u27s health. Methods: This is a descriptive study, of the type experience report from the first scientific exhibition on women\u27s health proposed in the context of the discipline "Nursing in Women\u27s Health" of the undergraduate course in nursing at the Faculdade Anhanguera de Jacareí, in the state of São Paulo. It was developed in October 2022, in celebration of the month of breast cancer awareness: "pink October". Results and Discussion: The event was attended by professors from the anhanguera college from different areas of concentration, where we had a homogeneous group for the evaluation of works in women\u27s health. We had the participation of professors from the nursing, psychology, biology, engineering, physiotherapy, pedagogy, and law courses. Conclusion: From the above, it is concluded that the nursing department of the Anhanguera College, Jacareí unit, conducted its first scientific exhibition with excellence and dedication
