Hidden risk in the summer; gastroenteritis caused by marine bacteria in tourists

    Get PDF
AbstractEvery summer, thousands of Paraguayans travel to Brazilian beaches, where recreational contact with seawater and the consumption of fish and shellfish—often raw or undercooked—increases the risk of acquiring gastrointestinal illnesses. Marine bacteria such as Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Aeromonas spp., and Plesiomonas shigelloides, as well as enterobacteria associated with fecal contamination such as E. coli and Salmonella spp., have been documented in Brazilian coastal areas. High surface water temperatures during the summer favor the proliferation of Vibrio, increasing the environmental microbial load. Other fecal-oral pathogens, such as Cryptosporidium spp., are also present.Vibrio bacteria persist in drinking or recreational water and can cause acute diarrhea, especially in children and immunocompromised individuals. Thus, contaminated seafood, inadequate sanitation, and informal beach food consumption are factors that facilitate infection. Evidence shows that the Brazilian coast acts as a natural reservoir of enteric pathogens relevant to tourists. Therefore, health education, prioritizing the consumption of well-cooked seafood, choosing reputable restaurants, and seeking early medical attention are key measures to reduce the incidence of acute diarrhea among Paraguayan vacationers

Introduction: The use of artificial intelligence by law enforcement agencies has been one of the most pivotal tools in recent years concerning criminal offenses, particularly those affecting critical infrastructure facilities. This study bridges a critical gap in the existing academic literature that has often overlooked local challenges and unique features faced by Ukrainian law enforcement agencies. It focuses mainly on evaluating the introduction and integration process of an artificial intelligence system in reducing crimes and improving their threat response activities at crucial infrastructure points across Ukraine. The combination of such methodologies involves qualitative interviewing, including top-ranking representatives; analysis of performance reports with the involvement of AI; and case in-depth studies including AI-related practice. Results have pointed out that AI significantly enhances the real-time threat monitoring capability of Ukrainian law enforcement, advanced detection, and predictive analytics. This progress contributed to a significant reduction in criminal incidents at critical infrastructure facilities and allowed for more effective use of resources, quicker response times, and better operational coordination. The same study identified challenges, including data privacy concerns, regulatory gaps, and the pressing need for advanced training programs that would meet the current AI needs. The study\u27s conclusions emphasize the innovative nature of AI integration within Ukraine’s law enforcement framework, offering actionable recommendations for addressing existing challenges. Its novelty lies in providing a focused analysis of AI\u27s practical applications in a Ukrainian context. Future research should explore cross-country comparisons, ethical implications, and the long-term impact of AI on legal systems and operational efficiency, contributing to broader discussions on technology-driven law enforcement strategie

Quality management and marketing for the development of international markets - case of the Agro Tem. Corp company and regulations

    Get PDF
Quality management and marketing are essential elements for the development of international markets, especially for companies such as Agro Tem. Corp., which operates in the agro-industrial sector. This approach includes the adoption of quality standards that not only satisfy local regulations, but also meet international demands, through strategies that promote the export of food products and their derivatives. To carry out this research, surveys and interviews were conducted in order to obtain additional information for further analysis. Both a digital and in-person approach were used, applying scientific, analytical, deductive, inductive and bibliographic methods, in addition to techniques such as direct market observation. The results obtained have made it possible to outline a consumer profile that identifies the products with the greatest acceptance and those with unsatisfied demand. It has been observed that the local population is willing to accept imported products, as long as they comply with health and quality standards, as well as with the health parameters required by the safety protocols established by federal regulations in the United States. It is therefore crucial to develop strategies to boost this sector. The decision was made to design an export plan consisting of four phases, covering everything from the departure of the company\u27s products to their arrival at the final consumer. This approach facilitates the formulation of strategies that integrate product standardisation and the satisfaction of the needs of this market
