Detecting Bot-Controlled Accounts on Social Media Using Deep Learning
The proliferation of bot-controlled accounts on social media platforms poses significant risks to user trust and platform integrity. Recent approaches to bot identification suffer from imbalanced data, as well as overfitting and scalability issues. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a deep learning-based framework to detect such accounts using behavioral and content-based features extracted from Twitter data. The methodology integrates feature engineering, data preprocessing, and deep learning models. Evaluated on the Cresci-2017 dataset, the best-performing model achieved a test accuracy of 98.51%, with a precision of 99.16%, recall of 98.23%, and an F1-score of 98.69%. The results show that deep learning can effectively differentiate between genuine and bot-controlled accounts, contributing to enhanced security and authenticity in online interactions

The Impact of Digital Emotional Intelligence on Constructive Deviance: The Mediating Role of Organizational Learning
This research aims to study the impact of digital emotional intelligence on constructive deviance among faculty members of the College of Engineering at the University of Information Technology, while testing the mediating role of organizational learning in this relationship. The research relied on the theory of self-control resources and the theory of social cognition to understand the mechanisms of ego depletion and self-efficacy and harness them in the service of the organization by completing tasks and engaging in activities that go beyond the official role, which enhances the organization\u27s ability to work and raises the importance of development and bringing about change. Given the benefits of constructive deviance for the organization through faculty members\u27 behaviors, the importance of the study stems from its aim to fill a knowledge gap related to how to employ digital emotional capabilities to promote positive, atypical behaviors that support institutional development within the higher education environment. The research relied on the descriptive analytical approach, using the questionnaire as a tool to collect data from a random sample of (96) faculty members out of a study population of (127) faculty members in the College of Engineering at the University of Information Technology. The data were analyzed using statistical methods and hypothesis testing. The most important results were the direct effect of digital emotional intelligence on both organizational learning and constructive deviance, the effect of organizational learning on constructive deviance, and its mediating role in the relationship between digital emotional intelligence and constructive deviance , The constructive approach reflects a knowledge and cultural gap that limits the College of Engineering\u27s ability to promote administrative and academic innovation, develop the digital learning environment, and support strategies for effective digital transformation
Evaluation of Surface Morphological Changes in B Cells Using Flow Cytometry in Children with Type I Diabetes
Background: Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is one of the most common chronic diseases among children and adolescents, characterized by an autoimmune reaction that destroys insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas. B cells play a more complex role than just antibody production in T1D; they are involved in antigen presentation and regulation of the immune response. This study aimed to identify the immunophenotypic heterogeneity of CD19+CD27+ , CD19+CD80+, and CD19+CD24+ B cells in T1D patients and compare their proportions with those in healthy individuals.
Patients and Methods: The study was conducted on 44 peripheral blood samples from male children aged 5 to 10 years. It included 24 patients with T1D and 20 healthy children as controls. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells were isolated, and B cells were then labeled using monoclonal antibodies conjugated to fluorescent dyes and analysis was performed using Flow Cytometry.
Results: The results showed a statistically significant decrease in the proportions of all studied B cells types CD27+ , CD80+, and CD24+ in children with T1D compared to healthy children. This decrease in surface expression suggests a potential imbalance in immune balance and cellular regulation in patients.
Conclusion: The variation in the normal balance of B cells, which play an important role in regulating the immune response, suggests that these cell types may be early indicators of the onset or progression of the disease, making them potential targets for the development of immunotherapies that target modifying these cells to slow or halt the progression of diabetes
Study of Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria and Effect of Sepsis in Heart Failure Patients in Karbala
Heart failure (HF) can be defined as a complex clinical syndrome, which might result from any structural or functional heart disorder affecting the ventricular filling or the ejection of blood into systemic circulation. Sepsis represents a potentially fatal organ infection that results from a dysregulated host organ response to infections. Finding the most prevalent bacterial species causing sepsis in HF patients and figuring out their pattern of antibiotic susceptibility in Karbala city were the goals of the presented research. Methods: The research was conducted at the Imam Hussain Medical City Hospital\u27s Heart Center in Karbala between January and August of 2024. Following being admitted to the cardiac care unit, 25 patients with HF and bacterial infection and 25 patients with bacterial blood infections who did not have HF had 10 milliliters of venous blood drawn. Results: After the samples were cultured on different conditions to detect bacteria, antibiotic susceptibility testing was conducted. Were number of Gram negative bacteria =14 and Gram positive bacteria =11 in the group with infection without heart failure, while the number of Gram negative bacteria =16 and Gram positive bacteria =9 in the heart failure group with infection and the most common genius in infection group was Klebsiella pneumoniae which accounted for 8 (16%) isolates While, the most common genius in heart failure with infection group was Staphylococcus hominis which accounted for 5 (10%) isolates, all isolated species were found to be resistant to Ciprofloxacin (80%) in both groups and all isolated species were sensitive to Pefloxacin, Colistin, Ampicillin, Vancomycin, Linezolid and Streptomycin. Conclusion: The study concluded that the most common types of bacteria were Klebsiella pneumoniae and Staphylococcus hominis in the group of patients with and without heart failure, and the isolated bacteria were highly resistant to some antibiotics and highly sensitive to others
Self-Management Abilities and Associated Factors Among COPD Patients in Sulaymaniyah City, Iraq
Background
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a progressive respiratory disorder requiring effective self-management. However, the relationship between self-management abilities and patients\u27 sociodemographic and clinical characteristics remains underexplored in Iraq.
Objective
To assess associations between self-management abilities and sociodemographic and clinical characteristics among COPD patients in Sulaymaniyah City, Iraq.
Methods
A cross-sectional study enrolled 102 COPD patients from two respiratory hospitals. Data were collected using structured questionnaires including the COPD Self-Management Scale (CSMS), COPD Assessment Test (CAT), modified Medical Research Council (mMRC) Dyspnea Scale, and Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8). A pilot study (n=10) confirmed instrument reliability (Cronbach\u27s α ≥0.70). Statistical analyses included Chi-square tests and Kruskal-Wallis H tests (p<0.05).
Results
Mean age was 68.5±10.7 years; 84.3% were male, 68.6% urban residents, and 56.9% had low education. Mean CSMS score was 67.49±12.94, indicating moderate self-management. Higher education (p=0.012), married status (p=0.001), longer disease duration (p=0.021), and smoking cessation after diagnosis (p=0.013) were significantly associated with better self-management. Age, gender, residence, comorbidities, and BMI showed no significant associations.
Conclusion
COPD patients in Sulaymaniyah demonstrate moderate self-management influenced by education, marital status, disease duration, and smoking behavior. Tailored educational interventions, smoking cessation programs, and social support strategies are essential to enhance self-management and improve patient outcomes
Comparison of Topical Metformin 40% Cream with Triple Combination Cream in Treatment of Melasma in Females
Background: Melasma is a common acquired illness characterized by an outbreak of brown and often symmetrical hyperpigmented patches on frequently sun-exposed face areas. Its treatment is important because it affects the patient’s appearance. Although topical treatments are used several times daily and for several months, they partially eliminate the lesions. This study aimed to assess and compare the efficacy of topical metformin with triple combination cream (TCC) in treating melasma.
Methods: A randomized controlled trial was carried out at the clinic of the Department of Dermatology in Imam Hassan Teaching Hospital in Karbala. Fifty females with melasma were selected. They were divided equally (25 patients) into two groups. Group A was given topical metformin 40% once daily for 2 months, and Group B was given TCC for 2 months. The patients were followed up during the treatment period.
Results: The mean age of group A was 35.06± 6.46 years, and in group B it was 34.02 ± 5.37 years. The decrease in Melasma Area and Severity Index (MASI) score was more among the metformin group (A) at 2 weeks with statically significant (p= 0.025) and a high percent of satisfaction (72%), while at 8 weeks there was no statistical difference in MASI score and the satisfaction was 88% in the metformin group.
Conclusions: Melasma can be treated safely and novelly with topical metformin, which is as effective as TCC.

Depression in Patients with end Stage Renal Disease Attending Hemodialysis at Imam Al-Hussein Medical City, Karbala
Background: Depression is a common psychological condition among patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) on hemodialysis because of chronic dependence on the hemodialysis machine for life, but it is unrecognized and underestimated. The experience of multiple losses in kidney function, family role, time, money, and work, in addition to the fear of death, all of which negatively affect the patient\u27s mood and life. This study aims to determine the prevalence of depression among patients with ESRD on hemodialysis and factors associated with it.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was done in the hemodialysis unit in Imam AL Hussein Medical City in Karbala from 1st April 2024 to 30th June 2024 involving patients with ESRD on hemodialysis. Samples were collected consecutively from patients above 18 years old through direct interview using a semistructured questionnaire based on the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) scale.
Results: Three hundred hemodialyzed patients were interviewed, among whom 59.3% were males and the remainder were females. The mean age of participants was 51.59 years. The prevalence of depression was 67%. A significant association was found between divorced, widowed, or not working patients and depression. Regarding PHQ-9, feeling of sadness was the most common symptom among participants at 82%.
Conclusions: Nearly two-thirds of patients with ESRD undergoing hemodialysis experienced depression, which was significantly associated with widowhood, divorce, and unemployment. Regular depression screening every 6–12 months is recommended, and future longitudinal, multicenter studies are warranted to clarify the predictors and outcomes of depression in this population
