Dobrenje in gospodje Dobrenjski v srednjem veku
The history of the settlement of Dobrenje, located in Slovenian Styria in the direct vicinity of the present-day border with Austria, can be traced back to the beginning of the twelfth century. Its importance increased significantly in the thirteenth century, when Dobrenje Castle was built there and Eckhart of Dobrenje, named after it, became one of the most prominent noblemen on the territory of modern Slovenian Styria in the second half of the thirteenth century. Eckhart successfully turned the struggles for control over Styria to his advantage, thus bringing himself into the close circle surrounding the archbishop of Salzburg and the Styrian duke Ottokar II Přemysl, respectively. Nonetheless, very little is known about his personal life. In addition to reconstructing his (political) life, the article aims to suggest some possible origins of his family and concludes with an account of what happened to the family after Eckhart’s death at the end of the thirteenth century.
The article presents the art historically and archaeologically significant high medieval find from the eastern slope of Kašča Hill above the village of Žlebe near Medvode (central Slovenia), on which supposedly stood Stari Jeterbenk Castle (Germ. Alt Hertenberg), belonging to the Spanheim ministerials, the Lords of Hertenberg. The aforementioned find is a square-shaped mount made of gilded copper plate, featuring an embossed depiction of a lion. Considering the absence of holes or rivets and given the interpretation of the function of similar finds in the central European area, it was probably part of the decoration of a belt or other item of clothing or personal equipment, perhaps a bag or a wooden chest for holding valuables. Based on stylistic comparisons and analogue finds from closed contexts, the series of identical mounts, which the find under discussion supposedly formed part of, may roughly be dated between the end of the twelfth century and the early fourteenth century. The artefact, having most likely drifted to the site of discovery down the steep slope from the domed summit of the hill where the castle remains are located, confirms the understanding of the architectural and chronological development of the Jeterbenk Castle complex and adds to the archaeologically documented material culture of the nobility in Carniola.
The article focuses on the development of court offices under the rulers of the Duchy of Styria and the County of Tyrol in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. In Styria, sources already point to a swift development of the court administration structure in the twelfth century, which was owed to Margrave Ottokar III, who governed his margraviate between 1129 and 1164. On the other hand, such development was much slower in the County of Tyrol, even though the first court officials may also be encountered there as early as the mid-twelfth century. This changed during the period of Count Meinhard II (who was also Duke of Carinthia), who ruled over Tyrol between 1258 and 1295.Tema članka je primerjava razvoja dvornih služb vladarjev vojvodine Štajerske in grofije Tirolske v 12. in 13. stoletju.
The article analyses factors associated with mortality in the elderly during three five-year periods of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries in the area of the St Peter parish, also known as Šempeter Suburbs in Ljubljana. It presents physicians’ approach towards elderly patients, as well as the status of public hygiene in the city and the particularities of the area under discussion. The records of city and provincial physicians Fran Viljem Lipič, Viljem Kovač, Friedrich Keesbacher, and Franc Zupanc linked the issue of the city hygienization or, more specifically, the establishment of drinking water supply system, sewage disposal, and appropriate housing conditions to a declining morbidity rate and increasing life expectancy of the population.V prispevku je prikazana analiza vzrokov smrti umrlih starostnikov v treh petletnih obdobjih 19. in v začetku 20. stoletja na območju župnije sv. Peter oziroma v Šempetrskem predmestju v Ljubljani. Zapisi mestnih in deželnih zdravnikov Frana Viljema Lipiča, Viljema Kovača, Friedricha Keesbacherja in Franca Zupanca problematiko higienizacije mesta oziroma preskrbo z neoporečno pitno vodo, odvajanje fekalij in ustrezne stanovanjske razmere povezujejo z manjšim obolevanjem ljudi in njihovo dolgoživostjo.

Prebivalstvo trga Mozirje leta 1657 v luči najstarejšega celovitega zapisnika duš na Slovenskem
Apart from well-preserved vital records, the parish of Mozirje also boasts the states of souls (status animarum) in excellent condition. The earliest one was produced in 1657 as the first comprehensive source of its kind in Slovenia. It was meticulously compiled by Janez Plevnik, the parish priest of Mozirje, who probably discontinued the recordkeeping that same year. This is one of merely two status animarum from the seventeenth-century Slovenia that also state the age of individual persons. The article presents and discusses only the part of the census that covers the market town of Mozirje.

Upornost gimnazijcev in njihov odnos do profesorjev, šolskega reda in discipline
The article deals with the life of the high school students in Slovenia in the late 19lh and early 20,h century and presents the resistance of those students and their relation to the professors and school order. The author describes some examples from the life of the high school students of the time, which show that they came into conflicts in the school as well as out of it. There were many different reasons for those conflicts. They revolted against the established order individually and collectively, with some success and, even more often, with no success. With their resistance they wanted to establish their own autonomy, which slowly became the hallmark of their generation. Vzroki so bili različni.
