»Proč ves nikotin, žganje, pivo, vin\u27!«: Glasilo Mladi junak v okviru protialkoholnega boja

    Get PDF
In this article, the author describes the anti-alcohol newsletter Mladi junak (Young Hero), which was published between 1924 and 1935. After an introduction to the state of alcoholism among Slovenian youth, he focuses on the basic presentation of the newsletter, naming the editors-in-chief and briefly introducing some of the columns published. It goes on to give examples of anti-alcohol stories, poems and riddles aimed at discouraging young readers from drinking. In the final part, some other contributions are described, which are not related to the anti-alcohol fight, but rather point young readers towards a healthy and better lifestyle, and compares Mladi junak with two anti-alcohol newsletters.V pričujočem prispevku avtor opisuje protialkoholni glasilo Mladi junak, ki je izhajalo med letoma 1924 in 1935.

»On krasi mesto – mesto naj podpira njega!«: Formativno idrijsko obdobje fotografa Josipa Pelikana

Photographer Josip Pelikan spent most of his career in Celje, where his legacy is well researched and documented and represents an important part of the city\u27s heritage, but this text looks back to his less well-known quarter-century formative period in Idrija between 1894 and 1919. Through registers and other sources, it sheds light on the photographer\u27s childhood and youth, as well as on the life of his ancestors, especially his mother in her birthplace Rožmítal pod Třemšínem in the Czech Republic. It describes the arrival of young Pelikan from Trbiž, where he was born, to Idrija, where he spent a quarter of a century, and the circumstances of his upbringing and development into a renowned professional photographer. It also focuses on the buildings in which he lived and worked, and the people he grew up with. The paper highlights the surviving photographs of Josip Pelikan, Anton Schmeiler and Barbara Kastner from Trbiž, Idrija and Brežice, and raises the question of the influence of buildings on personal and collective memory, or on the processes of heritage in general.

    Svibno – fenomen propadlega trga

Svibno (Germ. Scharfenberg) near Radeče is unique in many regards among Slovenian market towns of medieval origin. Situated in the middle of the Sava Hills, it stood at the highest elevation of all. Although it was founded below an important castle and at the seat of an old parish, Svibno did not retain its market functions for long. At its zenith, it had a strong cottage industry, but it did not establish itself as a trade hub. First documented as a market town in the early fifteenth century, it had already experienced a considerable economic and demographic decline by the second half of the sixteenth century. The number of homes decreased from about thirty in the first half of the fifteenth century to only three in the mid-eighteenth century. Apart from its structural shortcomings and remoteness from transport connections, the decline and ultimately the collapse of the market town was also due to its rival, the neighbouring market town of Radeče (Germ. Ratschach) on the navigable Sava River. Even though it was completely ruralized and all but completely disappeared, Svibno retained its market town title in the local environment well into the nineteenth century. K zatonu in slednjič propadu trga je poleg strukturnih slabosti in prometne odmaknjenosti prispevala bližina konkurenčnega trga Radeče ob plovni reki Savi.

Drawing on the example of the Northern Adriatic, the article presents movement restriction measures as preventive steps against contagious diseases. These measures (quarantine for persons suspected as potential carriers of disease and isolation of persons infected) were observed from the early modern period, when this area was the most exposed to plague epidemics, until the last decades of the nineteenth century, when cholera posed a major health threat. Because the discussion centres on coastal towns, primary attention is paid to maritime quarantine; however, the article also examines connections between the sea and the hinterland, as well as the border position of this area, which dictated the implementation of health measures in the towns and their wider surroundings.V prispevku so na primeru severnega Jadrana predstavljeni ukrepi z zamejevanjem gibanja, ki so služili preventivnemu ravnanju v boju proti nalezljivim boleznim.

Nagrobni spomeniki in pokopališki korpusi v Sloveniji, uliti v Salmovi livarni

In the first half of the nineteenth century, cast iron tombstones, plaques, and crosses also became a common feature in cemeteries across Slovenia. Cemetery crosses, sometimes also made of cast iron themselves, often had a cast iron Corpus of the Crucified Christ affixed to them. The article focuses on such products from the Salm Iron Foundry and its successors in Blansko, Moravia—specifically on the castings of the Corpus of the Crucified Christ designed by the Austrian sculptor Anton Dominik von Fernkorn and on four tombstones.V prvi polovici 19. stoletja so se tudi na pokopališčih v Sloveniji uveljavili litoželezni nagrobni spomeniki, plošče in križi, na pokopališke križe (ki so lahko bili tudi sami litoželezni) so bili večkrat nameščeni litoželezni korpusi Križanega.

Ženski katoliški redovi, kongregacije in družbe v slovenskem zdravstvu v prvi polovici 20. stoletja

In the first half of the twentieth century, sisters of Catholic orders of charity formed the backbone of workforce in Slovenian healthcare and especially curative care. They served the institutions of their employment with full commitment, performing everything from the basic tasks to leadership functions. The turning point came in 1948, when the new postwar authorities also introduced major changes in Slovenian curative healthcare. Religious sisters were sacked from the Slovenian health and social care system and replaced by civilian personnel. Drawing, among other sources, from religious sisters’ personal memoirs, the article provides a detailed presentation of six female orders that played an active part in healthcare processes on Slovenian territory.Redovnice karitativnih katoliških redov so bile v prvi polovici 20. stoletja v slovenskem zdravstvu, predvsem njegovi kurativni veji, glavna delovna moč.

The Roman colony of Emona is considered the oldest Roman autonomous town in modern Slovenian territory, the establishment of which is dated to the period of the first Roman emperor, Augustus. Due to the strategic position of this area, Emona was undoubtedly a prized target of Italic colonists, documented on inscription-bearing stone monuments, primarily gravestones. During the first phase of colonization and Romanization, several families were particularly active. Therefore, their representatives were not only often documented, but they also held important functions in the city administration. The representatives of Oclatii in Emona and its ager were not among the most common ones. There are only two gravestones known to date, one from the town itself and the other from the Emona ager (Lesce?). Both representatives were most likely part of the municipal elite—one as a veteran and the other as a decurion of the Emona colony.

    Grad Vrbovec: Arhitekturnozgodovinski oris

    Get PDF
Based on the analyses of preserved built structures, old depictions and photos, particulars regarding the history of the property, as well as appropriate analogies, it is possible to determine the main development phases of one of the most recognizable historical castle architectures in the Upper Savinja Valley. The castle was most probably built in the second half of the twelfth century and underwent at least three expansions during the Late Middle Ages. In the sixteenth century, it obtained its outer wall with three cylindrical towers and in the seventeenth century it was transformed into a Renaissance-style residence of Ljubljana’s bishops. During the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, the castle underwent no major construction work. The medieval castle core was demolished in the eighteenth century. In 1900, it was restored and added a Historicist chapel sometime between 1917 and 1920. After it was destroyed in the Second World War, the castle underwent a gradual and thorough restoration during the second half of the twentieth century. Zatem v 18. in 19. stoletju ni bil več deležen ambicioznejših gradbenih posegov. V 18. stoletju so porušili srednjeveško grajsko jedro.
