National and ideological divisions in Slovenia from the middle of the 19th century to the beginning of World War I led to the formation of major cultural and political camps. By enumerating some examples, the author depicts the influence exerted on culture by politics and the effects of censorship. Particular emphasis is placed on the theatre and its related branch: the cinema, as well as on the cultural policies of political parties which influenced the financing of cultural institutionsNacionalne in idejne delitve od srede 19. st. pa do začetka 1. svetovne vojne so na naših tleh pripeljale do nastanka večjih kulturno-političnih taborov.

Based on the documents of the German consulate in Ljubljana, kept in the Political Archives of the German Foreign Office (Politisches Archiv Auswärtigen Amtes) in Bonn, the author depicts the visit of Red Cross member Maria Bognar in Ljubljana in 1941. With the help of the German and Italian police reports of the event, he reconstructs her life and activities. The answer, however, to the question of what this woman\u27s real function was and what she actually did in Ljubljana, however, still remains a secret. S pomočjo poročil nemške in italijanske policije rekonstruira njeno življenje in delovanje. &nbsp

The article investigates a heretofor unknown story from 1739 when two large groups of Slovene builders, carpenters, and miners from Idrija assisted the Austrians in demolishing a fortress in Belgrade, which had been handed over to the Ottoman state upon Austria\u27s defeat in the war. From time to time, the author satirically connects the story with the experiences the Slovenes had with Belgrade in the 20th century, particularly since the 18th century Slovene "demolition workers" were not properly paid for their work. The cheated workers complained about this injustice in a linguistically and orthographically interesting document, written in Slovene, from 1744, in which the expression "comrades"(term used in "Communist" Yug.) is also used.
