Ulysse et son double
Odysseus’s dual personnality, both positive and negative, reflects the dual personnality of the god Hermes, the god in which opposite forces are united. So he faces recurrently «doubles» reproducing the dark face of his contradictory personnality, namely Thersites and Dolon in the Iliad, and Iros in the Odyssey (it is also the ground for the final fight against the Suitors) : he hits them, hurts them or possibly eliminates them (in Plautus’s Amphitryon, Hermes-Mercurius does the same with his double, Sosius, Amphitryon’s servant). It looks like a kind of self sacrifice, commited against himself ; hence the underlying comparison of Odysseus with a sacrified deer
CULTURAL BIOSEMIOTICS. L’EMERGENZA DELLA CULTURA DALLA NATURA
The problem of the relation between nature and culture receives particular attention throughout the entire history of philosophical speculation. Against the range of solutions mainly proposed, which focuses on the absolute exceptionalism of the human cultural phenomena and rejectsany idea of continuity between nature and culture, this article aims to present the innovative drive ideas of the continuity-oriented approaches in the field of biosemiotics. In order to demonstrate the scope and potential of the biosemiotics’ perspective for one of the most profound shifts in cultural analysis, the article providessome of the related theories from the latest essays by biosemiotician like Wendy Wheeler, Paul Cobley and, very briefly, Victoria Alexander, taking as a basis the pioneering work of Gregory Bateson.

DANIEL DEFOE’S PROTESTANT ROMAN CATHOLICS. GLOBAL RELIGION, COLONIALISM, AND THE LIMITS OF TOLERATION IN THE FARTHER ADVENTURES OF ROBINSON CRUSOE
In Daniel Defoe’s The Farther Adventures of Robinson Crusoe (1719), the Protestant protagonist treats Roman Catholics with a friendly tolerance, which seems at odds with his violence towards idolaters. Placing the novel within the history of secularity reveals that Crusoe can tolerate Roman Catholics because their religion is represented in Protestant terms. In his global travels, an implicit Protestantism shapes his understanding of “religion”, which cannot accommodate idolaters. To promote a proper form of religion that he can tolerate, Crusoe turns to violence. In Daniel Defoe’s The Farther Adventures of Robinson Crusoe (1719), the Protestant protagonist treats Roman Catholics with a friendly tolerance, which seems at odds with his violence towards idolaters. IL GOVERNO DELL’OPINIONE. L’EPISTEMOLOGIA POLITICA DI DAVID HUME
The essay analyses David Hume’s political epistemology by focusing on the issue of “general opinion” in its relationship with the questions of political obligation and of the production and infraction of order. Opinion emerges as the keystone of a new conception of politics in which a communicative vision of society redefines both the tasks of government and the concept of order. While government is supposed to protect order, it results in facts as its product.
