    L’assistenza educativa per gli alunni con disabilità: uno sguardo sui modelli organizzativi in prospettiva inclusiva

    The school educational assistant is a professional who intervenes in the learning and socialization processes of pupils with disabilities to enhance their skills in areas such as autonomy and the management of cognitive and relational aspects. Rooted in the Italian policy of “integrazione scolastica”, the educational assistance service has clear purposes and solid regulatory foundations. However, being a service managed and financed by local authorities, it is not carried out in the same way on the national territory. Inevitably, the different organizational choices are reflected in the contexts and educational relations. To stimulate discussion on the subject, a comparison between organizational models of educational assistance is proposed from a perspective that observes their implications in terms of inclusion. Tuttavia, essendo un servizio gestito e finanziato dagli Enti Locali, non si realizza con le stesse modalità sul territorio nazionale. Inevitabilmente, le differenti scelte organizzative si riflettono sui contesti e sulle relazioni educative. Per sollecitare una riflessione sul tema si propone un confronto tra modelli organizzativi dell’assistenza educativa da una prospettiva che ne osservi le implicazioni in termini di inclusione

    Fare matematica: riflessioni su esperienze di didattica laboratoriale

    This paper presents the development of a mathematical activity that provides an understanding of how modular recursivity can be used to solve real problems, in the perspective of National Guidelines. The activities were designed together with teachers and involved students from kindergarten, primary school and secondary school. Results highlight situations of didactic contract.In questo contributo viene presentato lo sviluppo di un’attività laboratoriale di matematica, che consente di comprendere come può essere utilizzata la ricorsività modulare per risolvere problemi reali, nell’ottica delle Indicazioni Nazionali per il primo ciclo. L’attività è stata progettata insieme ai docenti delle classi e ha coinvolto studenti della scuola dell’infanzia, della scuola primaria e della scuola secondaria di primo grado. La discussione e l’analisi dei risultati mettono in luce situazioni di contratto didattico; dalle conclusioni emerge una esplicita riflessione relativa alla necessità di progettare in verticale una didattica di tipo laboratoriale

    Le Noze di Psiche e Cupidine di Galeotto del Carretto: note metrico-linguistiche

    In the following paper Noze di Psiche e Cupidine, a theatrical work by Galeotto del Carretto, has been analyzed. The first part is an introductory one, where the opera and dating problems are described. The possible match of Noze with Comedia de Beatrice, another Galeotto’s work (believed lost) which is mentioned within letters, will be discussed and underlined. The focus of the second part is the author’s language. On one hand the text is marked by linguistic phenomena from the Nord of Italy (given the fact that the author is from Piemonte). On the other hand, it contains lots of Florentine features as well. This means that Galeotto had already begun a Florentine standardization process which results partial and incomplete. In the third part the attention is focused on the work’s metric, which is various and perfectly fitting with the different issues on the scene.

    Parallel Large-Scale Edge-Preserving Joint Inversion with PETSc and TAO

    The focus of this thesis is on the study and the parallel implementation of a software package for the Tikhonov\u27s approach to the joint inversion of multidimensional data, based on minimum support regularization and built on top of the well known and widely used high-performance parallel libraries PETSc and TAO. Studying effective methods and implementing efficient codes for a truly joint inversion arouses great interest, because multiple types of observations of the same object can be used at once in a single procedure to recover an estimate of the object itself via non-invasive inspection. One of the main reasons for this interest is that jointly inverting different kind of data could allow to reduce both the ill-posedness of data reconstruction problem and the total number of data to be collected, while still preserving the accuracy of the results. This is a relevant goal because the need to get more detailed information about the structure of the investigated physical systems, via non-invasive observations, is common to a large number of research and industrial felds such as Biology, Geophysics, Medicine and many many others; and the same applies to their large-scale scientifc applications. Original contributions are given to both the theoretical aspects and the numerical implementation of the joint inversion. First of all, we derive the analytical expressions of first- and second-order derivatives of the proposed joint inversion functional in its discretized version, to be used with first- and second-order optimization methods. Then we implemented a Matlab prototype and the HPC parallel code, named JoInv. Another important part of the thesis is the design and the implementation of a PETSc-compliant recursive procedure for the structure prediction of sparse matrices products of every dimension, in both the sequential and the parallel cases. Last, but not least, we provide the implementation of the well known Scaled Gradient Projection (SGP) method for simply constrained nonlinear programming problems as a new TAO solver. We analyze the performances of all the developed code with respect to the most important metrics, i.e., speedup, efciency, Kuck\u27s function, and DUSD model, by using simulated data.     Pharmaceutical compounds in waters. Investigations on hospital effluents as a source of environmental contamination and on their treatability

    The activity research done during this Ph.D., was born as an overview of pharmaceutical compounds (PhCs) in wastewaters (WWs). In particular, the aim of this work was evaluate the occurrence of these emerging pollutants in the hospital’s wastewaters (HWWs), considered one of the main sources of these contaminants in the public sewage and in the environment. To do this, many water samples (withdrawn from different kind of waters: groundwaters, surface waters, drinking waters, urban wastewaters, hospital wastewaters, bottle waters) were analysed in order to investigate the problem and have more data to compare HWWs with urban ones. The chemical’s analysis includes conventional macropollutants like BOD5, COD, SS, N compounds. . . as well as pharmaceuticals (till 73 compounds were monitored). Chapter 2 of the thesis, explains the diffusion of PhCs into the environment. It starts from a literature’s basis that explains the occurrence, fate of PhCs, the health risk and the consequent ecotoxicological effects; the experimental investigation regards different samples taken from surface waters of Po River, groundwaters (GW) from the first aquifer below the Po River and drinking waters (DW) at different steps of the Ferrara’s waters work. The aim of this chapter is investigate the occurrence of PhCs in the environment (by comparing our conclusions to the literature results) and verify if the treatments adopted at water works of Ferrara, could guarantee a sufficient removal of the investigated compounds. Chapter 3 represents the central chapter (the core chapter) of this work. It refers to hospital and urban effluents, it compares these two kinds ofWWs in terms of flow rates and concentration and loads of conventional macroparameters (mainly BOD5, COD, SS). All these treated aspects are about the basis of literature and they compare them data with the data that we will find in our experimental investigations. The final part of the chapter show the analytical results done on PhCs in two real hospital effluents that have been studied (Lagosanto and Ferrara). In this chapter are also analysed the different water consumption in the hospital structures because for a single user (the typical user in the hospital is normally the patient, expressed in terms of bed) the water consumption is really different from the usual inhabitant equivalent. Chapter 4 explains all the experimental investigation carried out in these research years. The chapter is divided in 6 sections. Each section takes in consideration a different experimental investigation. The first section regards the raw hospital effluents disinfection. This kind of treatment should not be the only and the first one but in some developing countries, where WWTPs are not presents, hospital’s effluents should be at least pre-treated by sedimentation and disinfection before they will be discharged into the environment. The aim of the research was evaluate the correct dose of disinfectant (peracetic acid or hypochlorite) used for direct discharge of raw effluent into the environment, in order to avoid health and environmental risks. The second experimental campaign was about the treatment of the raw hospital effluent of Lagosanto (near Ferrara, 300 beds) where two different MBR pilot plants (with equipped microfiltration and ultrafiltration membranes) were tested by analysing macroparameters and some PhCs. This experimental section had the purpose to compare the MBR performance with the CAS, one with respect to macro and micro parameters. Also the experimental campaign performed in La Spezia WWTP (north west of Italy) compared the difference between conventional treatments (CAS) and MBR performances, but in this case, the feed to the plant was the UWWs. In the final part of this investigation was also tested a final treatment with ozone. A further investigation was done at Ferrara’s WWTP, in order to evaluate the contribution in the removal of 73 PhCs by a CAS and a polishing treatment, that consist in a horizontal subsurface flow system. During this investigation in Ferrara’s WWTP, two different study steps were developed. The first one using the effluent of the WWTP as influent of the CW, in order to evaluate the final efficiency by removing the 73 studied compounds. The second one add a mixture solution of Ciprofloxacin, Sulphametoxazole and Trimethoprin at the influent of the natural system, with the aim of verify the efficiency of the natural treatment with high concentration of the spiked compounds. The final section of this chapter discusses and compares the different tested technologies, with particular attention to the natural systems and to the concept of the multibarrier system able to remove a great number of PhCs from WWs. Chapter 5 is mainly focused on the different technologies that are able to remove the PhCs on the basis of a deeper literature’s research. The chapter deals the physico-chemical treatments, the conventional and advanced biological treatments, the nanofiltration technology, the reverse osmosis, the chlorination, a rapid overview about ozonation and AOPs treatment, the natural polishing treatment and, to conclude, the photodegradation.     ELECTRICAL CHARACTERIZATION, PHYSICS, MODELING AND RELIABILITY OF INNOVATIVE NON-VOLATILE MEMORIES

    Enclosed in this thesis work it can be found the results of a three years long research activity performed during the XXIV-th cycle of the Ph.D. school in Engineering Science of the Università degli Studi di Ferrara. The topic of this work is concerned about the electrical characterization, physics, modeling and reliability of innovative non-volatile memories, addressing most of the proposed alternative to the floating-gate based memories which currently are facing a technology dead end. Throughout the chapters of this thesis it will be provided a detailed characterization of the envisioned replacements for the common NOR and NAND Flash technologies into the near future embedded and MPSoCs (Multi Processing System on Chip) systems. In Chapter 1 it will be introduced the non-volatile memory technology with direct reference on nowadays Flash mainstream, providing indications and comments on why the system designers should be forced to change the approach to new memory concepts. In Chapter 2 it will be presented one of the most studied post-floating gate memory technology for MPSoCs: the Phase Change Memory. The results of an extensive electrical characterization performed on these devices led to important discoveries such as the kinematics of the erase operation and potential reliability threats in memory operations. A modeling framework has been developed to support the experimental results and to validate them on projected scaled technology. In Chapter 3 an embedded memory for automotive environment will be shown: the SimpleEE p-channel memory. The characterization of this memory proven the technology robustness providing at the same time new insights on the erratic bits phenomenon largely studied on NOR and NAND counterparts. Chapter 4 will show the research studies performed on a memory device based on the Nano-MEMS concept. This particular memory generation proves to be integrated in very harsh environment such as military applications, geothermal and space avionics. A detailed study on the physical principles underlying this memory will be presented. In Chapter 5 a successor of the standard NAND Flash will be analyzed: the Charge Trapping NAND. This kind of memory shares the same principles of the traditional floating gate technology except for the storage medium which now has been substituted by a discrete nature storage (i.e. silicon nitride traps). The conclusions and the results summary for each memory technology will be provided in Chapter 6.     Origine e sviluppi del collezionismo di ceramica graffita ferrarese

    The dissertation on the origin and development of Ferrara graffito collecting is composed by two basic parts: the first traces the state of research on this theme, not according to a specialistic approach, but aiming at providing an overall view which combines languages and knowledge that hardly ever meet namely: the ceramic analyst’s, the historian’s, the art historian’s, the archaeologist’s, the collector’s, and so on. The examination of the state of the art has meant going through the vast existing bibliography, integrating information from archives, from archaeological or iconographical origin and from collections and has led to the review of the main ceramic products for the domestic use diffused in Ferrara between the XIV and XVII century, and to the analysis of the various handicrafts and their social status and to the examination of the artistic techniques through ancient treatises and recipe books. In the second part of the research the main aim has been to contextualize the graffito ceramics into the history of the international Italian majolica collecting, because up to the second half of the XX century a clear distinction between engobe and enamel was rare, both from the point of view of ceramics collecting and from a linguistic one (in documents and auction catalogues they are often both referred to as majolica). The flows of antiques market, the reasons of taste, the ways of conservation, the type of display, the origin of each piece and the flourishing of collections are the main themes of the research. In particular ascertaining the origins isn’t only aimed at strengthening the authenticity of each object but also suggests cultural exchanges and socio-economic situations. The last section of the work has been devoted to local ceramics collecting namely graffito ceramics, but not exclusively, in the period of its re-discovery between the end of the 1800 and the beginning of 1900, setting a few questions: did the collectors share similar tastes? Did they draw from the same excavations? Did they refer to the same site managers, workmen, junk shops? Were there items from the same origins in different collections? What prompted a private individual to donate his/her collection to a public museum and how was the institution selected? What relationships existed among collectors? After direct scrutiny of the cultural heritage located in the storerooms of the Civic Museum of Schifanoia Palace in Ferrara, of the International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza and in private collections in Ferrara, I focused my attention on the archive documents relating to those artifacts including letters, inventories and notes from the Historic municipal archive, the State Archive, the Ariostea Library, the Archives of the Civic Museum of Ancient Art, the MIC Faenza Archive, the private de Pisis archive, Turin, and so on. The research has brought to light: the original manuscript of the essay by the painter de Pisis on his collection of engobe and graffito ceramics of the XV and XVI century, whose surviving items, today housed at the International Museum of Ceramics of Faenza, have been catalogued; some relationships passed among the Ferrara collectors Pasetti, de Pisis, Gardini, Cavalieri and other scholars such as Donini, from Bologna, Federico Argnani and Gaetano Ballardini from Faenza etc.; the role of collector-art dealer of Gregorio Bartolini whose collection of Ferrara engobe and graffito ceramics partially merged with that of Dott. Gualberto Gennari from Bologna; the surviving part of the Cavalieri collection, still private, composed of about 20 vases, plates called “piatti da pompa” in majolica of the XVI and XVII century; some trade routes of Ferrara graffito ceramics towards foreign collections and museums between \u27800 and \u27900. The work outlines a mosaic of collecting intentions and relations, made up of and pieced together with careful examination of the details and matching of the individual pieces, yet, at the same time, framing an overall view which, despite the incomplete texture, allows the identification of the general profile of the cultural phenomena that have been examined. The earliest and most significant ceramics collections inasmuch as they included typologies which were considered \u27primitives\u27, like graffito or fragments, (Cavalieri, Gardini, de Pisis, Bartolini), left Ferrara, donated or dispersed within the first decades of the previous century, with the commendable exception of the Pasetti collection. However, since 2004 the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Ferrara has started a purchasing campaign on the local and international antiques market, of relevant private collections, thus extending to the applied arts that policy of handing back the artistic heritage to the city that brought it to life. In the appendix are listed the first file cards of the ceramics in the Fondazione Carife collection. After direct scrutiny of the cultural heritage located in the storerooms of the Civic Museum of Schifanoia Palace in Ferrara, of the International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza and in private collections in Ferrara, I focused my attention on the archive documents relating to those artifacts including letters, inventories and notes from the Historic municipal archive, the State Archive, the Ariostea Library, the Archives of the Civic Museum of Ancient Art, the MIC Faenza Archive, the private de Pisis archive, Turin, and so on. The research has brought to light: the original manuscript of the essay by the painter de Pisis on his collection of engobe and graffito ceramics of the XV and XVI century, whose surviving items, today housed at the International Museum of Ceramics of Faenza, have been catalogued; some relationships passed among the Ferrara collectors Pasetti, de Pisis, Gardini, Cavalieri and other scholars such as Donini, from Bologna, Federico Argnani and Gaetano Ballardini from Faenza etc.; the role of collector-art dealer of Gregorio Bartolini whose collection of Ferrara engobe and graffito ceramics partially merged with that of Dott. Gualberto Gennari from Bologna; the surviving part of the Cavalieri collection, still private, composed of about 20 vases, plates called “piatti da pompa” in majolica of the XVI and XVII century; some trade routes of Ferrara graffito ceramics towards foreign collections and museums between \u27800 and \u27900. The work outlines a mosaic of collecting intentions and relations, made up of and pieced together with careful examination of the details and matching of the individual pieces, yet, at the same time, framing an overall view which, despite the incomplete texture, allows the identification of the general profile of the cultural phenomena that have been examined. The earliest and most significant ceramics collections inasmuch as they included typologies which were considered \u27primitives\u27, like graffito or fragments, (Cavalieri, Gardini, de Pisis, Bartolini), left Ferrara, donated or dispersed within the first decades of the previous century, with the commendable exception of the Pasetti collection. However, since 2004 the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Ferrara has started a purchasing campaign on the local and international antiques market, of relevant private collections, thus extending to the applied arts that policy of handing back the artistic heritage to the city that brought it to life. In the appendix are listed the first file cards of the ceramics in the Fondazione Carife collection.     The green roof is a living installation laying up a waterproofing sheet. The hybridization between plant organisms and construction elements represents a high level of technical specificity and planning complexity, derived from a large number of variables involved. In the other hand the green roof properties are many and the ones studied are the thermal behaviour and the water retention capacity. The research investigates different technical solutions related to the meteorological parameters, evaluating in particular the Mediterranean contest. The shape configurations and the energy performances are analysed as well. Moreover the research shows the green roof behaviour during the rain water events thanks to an experiment performed with a rain chamber.The green roof is a living installation laying up a waterproofing sheet.
