    No full text
This study aims to highlight transcreation or creative translation in digital marketing and address the cultural parameters for the transmission of the same advertising message to the target text, promoted on web pages. These digital pages, whether bilingual or multilingual , have demonstrated the need to involve the study of transcreation as a persuasive method shared between advertising and digital marketing. Furthermore, the adaptation of an advertising message to another language is related to one of the advertising strategies: localization. It should be noted that transcreation and digital marketing applied to web pages are two sides of the same coin. Both parties share, among other factors, persuasive content, which is quite necessary to convey advertising information about a product to other cultures

The field of translation has experienced a remarkable technological leap in recent years. All over the world, translators are using software, electronic dictionaries, and turning their computers into real workstations. This paper aims to explore the machine-human translator or machine translation-bio translation relationship in Algeria, by attempting to answer the following questions: are Algerian translators limited to using electronic dictionaries, or do they use the most developed software and CAT tools? And do they carry out pre- (post)editing operations? To answer these questions, we will conduct a questionnaire targeting Algerian translators, official and/or independent, on social networks. The questionnaire provides important information on the types of software/tools used by Algerian machine translators, the degree of integration of technology in their daily work, and the problems they encounter. The results show that respondents are aware of the role technology can play in the field of translation; they go hand in hand with the latest inventions and new usages. These results will help to improve the use of technology, and consequently the quality of translations, in Algeria. &nbsp

The Moroccan education system favors French at all levels, while English is taught only for three years during the qualifying cycle, creating a detrimental disparity in learning this foreign language. Learners often pronounce English with a French accent due to phonetic interference. Pronunciation difficulties are exacerbated by socio-psychological factors such as lack of motivation and an education system focused on quantity rather than quality. Teachers also play a crucial role in improving learning by addressing these challenges and managing classes appropriately. Students who make pronunciation errors may be ridiculed by their peers, leading to decreased self-esteem and disinterest in school activities. Special attention should be given to teacher training and creating a positive learning environment to promote better English proficiency and enhance students\u27 performance

Vers une nouvelle lecture de Spleen Baudelairien : l’investissement esthétique de la douleur dans Les Fleurs du Mal et Le Spleen de Paris

    No full text
What else can we say about the abundantly read and reread work of Baudelaire? Such a question should neither disarm nor disappoint a modern reader anxious to delve into the writings of the classics in order to draw new meanings from them. That said, Les Fleurs du Mal and Le Spleen de Paris are eminently fertile and promising concepts that lend themselves to being read each time from a new perspective. It is, in fact, a very polysemic and “open” work in the sense that Umberto Eco gives to this term. It constantly presents itself to readers brand new and rich, thus transcending temporality in a very seductive way. Nothing surprising for such a work whose key words are the bizarre and the eccentric. It is in this sense that the present work attempts to re-explore a key concept of Baudelaire\u27s poetry, in this case that of Spleen, in order to present a new reading of it. This concept usually charged with negative connotations seemed rather to express the consciousness in Evil shown by the author of Les Fleurs du Mal, constantly haunted by the desire for transgression and transcendence.

Negotiating Masculinity and Cultural Identity in Americanah: An Analysis of Hegemonic Norms in Nigerian Diaspora Literature

    No full text
This article delves into the presentation of masculinity and cultural identity in diaspora literature, honing in on Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie\u27s Americanah. The study seeks to understand how cultural expectations and power dynamics contribute to the construction of masculinity within Nigerian diasporic communities, utilizing Connell\u27s theory of hegemonic masculinity. Furthermore, it seeks to examine the impact of cultural fusion on the development of masculinity and cultural identity in male main characters in the chosen novel and to investigate how the intersections of race, gender, and immigrant background converge to influence the formation of masculinity in Americanah. Through a thorough examination of the male characters, the research delves into their engagements with dominant norms while striving to establish their sense of self and connection. The primary discoveries underscore the complex interplay among race, gender, and the immigrant background in moulding not only personal but also communal identities. The investigation pinpoints occurrences of defiance and rebellion against the prevailing masculine norms, while also exploring the potential for cultural amalgamation to redefine conventional ideas of masculinity. This scholarly inquiry enriches the comprehension of the intricate dynamics surrounding masculinity and cultural identification, providing valuable perspectives on the nuances of diasporic encounters and their influence on identity formation within diasporic literary works. In addition, this learned analysis creates opportunities for more inquiries into the relationships among sex, ethnicity, and individuality in contemporary literature, ultimately propelling the awareness of different plots within migrant communities

The Contribution of the Interpretative Theory to Disambiguating Automated Translation

    No full text
The translation process either human or automated is faced with ambiguity that hinders the clarity of the message. It pollutes translation. It renders the target text tainted lacking the clarity conditioned to convey the exhaustive meaning and intention of the source text .As a consequence, receptors may fail to grasp the precise meaning contained in the linguistic structure. The automated translation process impacts conveying the target meaning, disambiguating it leads to overcoming the discursive obstacles, which reflect the ambiguity residue. The Interpretative Theory in Translation adopted a distinct simplistic approach to produce a clear translation. It focuses on the content contained rather than on the containing form. This paper aims at checking the validity of the interpretive model to be applied to Automated Translation. To what extent the interpretive theory can serve as a model of disambiguating automated translation to reflect the research question to answer? Hypothesizing that the fundamentals of the theory can constitute precious guidance to disambiguating automation in translation is the research core on which this paper gravitates. Key words: Automated translation; Explicitness; The interpretative theory in Translation

    The Translation of Cultural Concepts

Nowadays the cultural translation has an important role in the field of the translation studies because of the importance of the cultural aspect in the communication process, we often look for a cultural equivalent in the target language for a word or text that carries a cultural significance in the source language, such as Zakat, Hajj, Omra, Alfathiha... Thus the role of the translator goes from having a good mastery of the two languages to understanding the two cultures: the culture of the author and the culture of the translation reader. Through this study we try to shed light on the mechanisms of cultural translate, and highlight the role of the translator with an indication of the most important obstacles he faces during this process. Through this research paper, we find out the difficulty of translating of the cultural element which is due to the difference of cultures from one society to another, and this is what makes it difficult for the task entrusted to the translator

Practical Guidelines for Implementing Translation into the EFL Classroom

    No full text
The use of languages other than the target one in foreign language teaching (FL) contexts has been interestingly gaining ground recently. A multitude of research has shown that though dogmatically no other language than the target language should be used in the FL classroom, L1 is used by many teachers and learners. It is noteworthy that managing the class and building relationships with the learners are crucial to the success of the lesson; yet they cannot be realized via the target language, especially with less proficient language learners. This article falls into the realm of translation use in foreign language teaching. It attempts primarily to bridge the gap between theory and practice, through suggesting a set of practical guidelines for teachers wishing to implement translation into their classroom. These guidelines are meant to model the judicious use of L1, and thus answer teachers’ queries about where to introduce L1 exactly within the lesson procedure, and by means of which tasks. In order to achieve a maximum of teacher-friendliness, the suggested guidelines are designed in reference to a lesson procedure based on the textual approach, with the implementation of translation-based tasks throughout the phases of the lesson, while mentioning the aim behind the use of L1 each time a translation task is introduced
