    No full text
Photobiomodulation Therapy (PBMT) is a safe, non-invasive method that promotes wound healing, tissue regeneration, and the restoration of normal cellular function using low energy parameters at red or near-infrared wavelengths. Despite its benefits, current PBMT devices are bulky, costly, and not easily accessible. This paper focuses on overcoming these limitations by successfully depositing copper on a flexible polymer material, polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), using standard Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS) processes such as Sputtering, Photolithography, and Metal Wetting. Through this process, a lightweight and cost-effective PDMS- based LED patch have been developed. The copper patterned on the PDMS has a 18.63% stretchability and LED patch maintains its stability even at a bending radius of 7.36mm. Furthermore, I examined the impact of these red LEDs on skin equivalents cultured with human-derived cells to validate the beneficial effects of red light in an in-vitro environment, which effectively stimulated the proliferation of keratinocytes.|PBMT(Photobiomodulation Therapy)는 상처 치유 및 조직 재생을 가속화하고 정상적인 세포기능을 회복하도록 돕습니다. The cost of satellite deployment has dramatically decreased, enabling the placement of numerous satellites at low altitudes. Concurrently, advancements in onboard processing (OBP) capabilities of the satellites have raised expectations for enhanced functionality. This trend has led to the inclusion of low Earth orbit satellite-based communication in the standards of next-generation networks, making it essential for the composition of future networks. This thesis investigates the application of virtualized network technologies in terrestrial networks to satellite networks utilizing inter-satellite links (ISLs). The thesis designs a solution that assumes the utilization of inter-satellite optical links and centralized software-defined network (SDN) controllers for network control. After summarizing the issues related to OBP satellites and satellite SDN, the suitability of deploying edge computing servers on satellites is analyzed from a system perspective. Furthermore, the thesis designs network slicing scheduling and planning problems for applying network slicing to satellites. To further integrate satellite networks with terrestrial networks, the thesis proposes an intelligent network slicing technique based on reinforcement learning to enhance the performance of the proposed network slice planning algorithm.|통신을 위한 위성의 활용이 최근 엄청난 주목을 받고 있다. 1. Robust Elastic Structure Preserving Control for High Impedance Rendering of Series Elastic Actuator

    No full text
In this letter, a new robust approach is proposed to address the limitation of impedance rendering for Series Elastic Actuators (SEA). The concept of Elastic Structure Preserving (ESP) control allows for the attachment of desired load-side dynamics to the SEA while maintaining a passivity condition, regardless of the parameters for the attached dynamics. The characteristics of ESP control are revisited and translated in the frequency domain, which grants a new perspective to identify its advantages compared to conventional impedance control in terms of passivity. Additionally, we analyze the degradation of performance due to unwanted disturbance and uncertainties in spring stiffness and motor inertia, and a new form of the robust ESP method is proposed by endowing disturbance rejection capability and robustness against uncertainty. © IEEE.FALSEsciescopu

Sustainable plastic waste management is an important approach to environmental protection. Among problematic plastics, polyethylene (PE) is a plastic that contains only a carbon-carbon (C-C) main chain and does not decompose due to a lack of hydrolysable groups. Therefore, to solve the problem of pollution caused by plastics, studying the biodegradation of plastics, including microorganisms and enzymes, can be an eco-friendly and sustainable approach. Here, we identified phenylalanine hydroxylase (PhhA), isocitrate lyase (ICL) enzymes with the same effect as Pseudomonas aeruginosa in degrading PE and confirmed the biodegradability of PE by optimizing the expression conditions. The stability of the protein was assessed under various conditions, including different buffer concentrations and pH levels, by measuring changes in its heat denaturation temperature using Thermal Shift Assays (TSA). The protein was cultured in LDPE under these conditions. Then, through Fourier-Transform-Infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopic analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic (XPS) analysis and Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), it was confirmed that physical and chemical changes occurred on the surface of PE due to PhhA of P. aeruginosa. As a result of analyzing the chemical structure change through FT-IR and XPS analysis, it was confirmed that oxidation occurred on the PE surface and the C-C bond was broken. Although it was confirmed that PhhA oxidizes LDPE, ICL cannot biodegrade on its own. There are other factors that we haven't discovered as the only single enzyme. These findings provide a potential solution to the biodegradation of non-degradable PE.Ⅰ. INTRODUCTION 1 ⅠI. Ultrafast acousto-optic modulation at the near-infrared spectral range by interlayer vibrations

    No full text
The acousto-optic modulation over a broad near-infrared (NIR) spectrum with high speed, excellent integrability, and relatively simple scheme is crucial for the application of next-generation opto-electronic and photonic devices. This study aims to experimentally demonstrate ultrafast acousto-optic phenomena in the broad NIR spectral range of 0.77–1.1 eV (1130–1610 nm). Hundreds of GHz of light modulation are revealed in an all-optical configuration by combining ultrafast optical spectroscopy and light–sound conversion in 10–20 nm-thick bismuth selenide (Bi2Se3) van der Waals thin films. The modified optical transition energy and the line shape in the NIR band indicate phonon–photon interactions, resulting in a modulation of optical characteristics by the photoexcited interlayer vibrations in Bi2Se3. This all-optical, ultrafast acousto-optic modulation approach may open avenues for next-generation nanophotonic applications, including optical communications and processing, due to the synergistic combination of large-area capability, high photo-responsivity, and frequency tunability in the NIR spectral range. © 2024 the author(s), published by De Gruyter.TRUEsciescopu

Intelligent Nano-Colloidal Electrolytes for Stabilizing Lithium Metal Anodes: A Review

    Get PDF
Although Li-metal has been revisited as the most attractive anode in building high-energy-density batteries owing to its superiority, such as ultimate theoretical capacity and lowest working voltage, notorious Li dendrite growth has plagued its practical uses. Since dendritic Li electroplating is mostly caused by poor Li+ transport and inferior stability of solid-electrolyte interphase (SEI), an innovative reframing of the electrolyte is crucial to the success of Li-metal anodes (LMAs). This review presents a new class of electrolytes, nano-colloidal electrolytes (NCEs), providing a new avenue for next-generation Li-metal batteries (LMBs). Without searching for new salts/solvents or their compositional tuning, NCEs exploiting multi-functional nanoparticles dispersed in liquid electrolytes can promote Li+ transport and reinforce the SEI of liquid electrolytes that are solely used. This review discusses various types of nanoparticles and their key roles in demonstrating excellent suppression of Li dendrite growth and enhancing the cycling stability of LMBs. Unraveling the underlying design principles of NCEs offers practical solutions for stabilizing LMAs, paving the way for developing intelligent battery systems. © 2024 The Authors. Vehicular Cyber-physical SystemVehicular Cyber-physical System (VCPS) is a type of CPS system that is gaining a lot of attention due to the emergence of autonomous systems and the vehicular communication systems. VCPS is being actively researched to improve road safety, road traffic efficiency, and various convenience applications. However, VCPS is a complex system that integrates control, communication, and computation with safety-critical characteristics, leading to growing concerns about its safety. As such, there's an increasing demand for the development of a secure system within VCPS. However, considering the rapid state changes of vehicle systems and various interference environments, there is a general lack of integrated consideration of various elements in VCPS. In this paper, we propose a recovery system to cope with the occurrence of network failures in vehicle CPS through the example of platooning system, which is one of the representative applications of vehicle CPS. In order to cope with the occurrence of various delays and interferences in the system, a hierarchical response method from the network layer to the control layer is presented to ensure system safety. It is confirmed that the proposed recovery technique can be used to construct and maintain a stable system when the performance of a part of the system is degraded due to communication failure and malicious attacks.
