Effectiveness of Geogebra-Based Learning on Students’ Cognitive and Affective Participation in Mathematics
Mathematics learning often poses significant challenges, particularly in sustaining student engagement and promoting deep conceptual understanding. To address these issues, this study explored the integration of interactive digital tools, specifically GeoGebra, into mathematics instruction. The primary objective was to evaluate the effectiveness of GeoGebra-based learning in enhancing students’ cognitive and affective engagement, focusing on the visualization of trigonometric function graphs. A quasi-experimental approach was employed, using a single-group pre-test and post-test design involving 20 students from SMA Negeri 1 Telukdalam. Data were gathered through classroom observations and structured questionnaires, assessing students’ cognitive, affective, and conative responses, as well as indicators of emotional engagement and curiosity. The results revealed that the use of GeoGebra significantly improved student enthusiasm and involvement, with an average effectiveness rate of 82%, categorized as “very effective.” The visually engaging and interactive features of GeoGebra contributed to increased comprehension and motivation among students. These findings align with constructivist learning theory and reinforce previous research highlighting the positive role of technology in enhancing mathematics education.
The Influence of Individual Characteristics and Job Factors on Traffic Accidents Through Work Stress on Drivers Two Wheels (Online Motorcycle Taxi) In Makassar City
Introduction: Traffic accidents in Indonesia have risen sharply, with 94,617 cases in 2023 (up 34.6%), dominated by human factors (61%), and the rise of online motorcycle taxis —with 4 million drivers—contributing to the problem due to low safety awareness and high work-related stress, with 41% of workers worldwide affected by stress and Indonesia ranking 9th in Southeast Asia.
Methods: This study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. A total of 106 respondents were selected using accidental sampling techniques. Data were collected through questionnaires involving various variables such as age, length of service, working hours, mental workload, and traffic accidents, as well as using a cocorometer to measure objective work stress.
Results: Results at a 95% confidence level or CL = 0.05 indicate that age and length of service have a significant effect on work stress (p=0.001; p=0.000), and age and length of service also have a direct effect on traffic accidents and a significant mediating effect through work stress (p=0.032; p=0.022). Working period does not influence work-related stress or traffic accidents (p > 0.05), and the mediating effect of work-related stress is also not significant (p = 0.142). Working hours and mental workload significantly influence work-related stress (p=0.007; p=0.009), but only mental workload directly influences traffic accidents (p=0.007), with both having work-related stress as a significant mediator (p=0.048; p=0.036).
Conclusions: Age, working period, working hours and mental workload significantly affect traffic accidents both directly and through work stress as an intervening variables
Evaluation of knowledge in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus using the dkq-24 questionnaire
Introduction: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide, with a significant impact on the health and economy of countries. Its proper management depends on patients’ knowledge about the disease and their involvement in self-care, making it necessary to design educational strategies aimed at optimizing metabolic control, preventing complications, improving treatment adherence, and enhancing quality of life.
Objective: To determine the level of knowledge about T2DM in patients attending the Center for Diabetes Care and Prevention (CAPD) in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, using the Diabetes Knowledge Questionnaire 24.
Method: An observational, descriptive, and analytical cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach was conducted among 104 patients diagnosed with T2DM. The DKQ-24, an internationally validated questionnaire, was applied by the researcher in a controlled setting. Results were analyzed using descriptive statistics and nonparametric tests.
Results: A total of 59.76% of participants showed an intermediate level of knowledge, 25.61% an adequate level, and 14.63% an inadequate level. Misconceptions were identified regarding the etiology of diabetes, insulin production, and glucose monitoring. No significant differences were found in the level of knowledge according to sex or age.
Conclusions: Although most patients demonstrated a moderate level of knowledge about T2DM, conceptual errors persist that may affect self-care. The need to implement structured educational strategies to improve knowledge, optimize treatment adherence, and reduce complications is highlighted
The invisible traits of professional footballers: a qualitative analysis of attitude and respect from a sports psychology view
Becoming a professional football player is a long and demanding journey that requires more than just physical strength, technical expertise, and tactical awareness. Psychological skills and mental resilience also play a crucial role in ensuring both progression to the professional level and the ability to sustain success over time. This study aims to explore key psychological aspects in the developmental pathway of football players, emphasizing the interplay between attitude, behavior, and overall character growth. Using a qualitative research design with a grounded theory approach, this study involved 10 youth football coaches, all holding official coaching licenses and with a minimum of five years of coaching experience. Data collection was carried out through triangulation methods, including open-ended semi-structured interviews, observations, and document analysis, to ensure credibility and richness of data. The findings reveal that successful football players must demonstrate exemplary behavior, as their attitudes and conduct not only reflect personal character but also influence the broader football environment. Two core qualities identified are maintaining a positive attitude and showing respect for everyone—teammates, coaches, referees, opponents, and even supporters. Beyond technical and physical skills, the long-term development of a football player must integrate psychosocial growth and character building. Establishing a culture of respect towards the rules of the game, the training environment, and competition helps nurture a positive team culture. This culture reinforces the internalization of sportsmanship values, social responsibility, and emotional maturity, which are essential for both personal development and sustainable success in football.
Stress Management as a Mediator Between Stressors and Stress Levels: Insights from Chinese Students
Introduction: The study explores the role of stress management as a mediator between stressors and stress levels among Chinese students. Stressors are categorized into three independent variables: interpersonal relations, personal factors, and environmental factors, while stress levels serve as the dependent variable.Objective: The mediating effect of stress management is examined to understand how stress management can reduce the impact of stressors on stress levels.Method: Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is employed to analyze the direct and indirect relationships among these variables. Data was collected through a survey of students from universities across Shandong Province, China.Results: The first three hypotheses were found to significantly contribute to stress levels. Stress management did not mediate the relationship between these stressors and stress levels.Conclusions: The study highlights the importance of stress management techniques, such as time management, mindfulness, and social support, in mitigating the negative effects of stressors on mental health. These findings suggest that universities and policymakers should prioritize stress management training and interventions to enhance student well-being and academic performance. By addressing stressors and promoting effective coping mechanisms, educational institutions can help students manage stress more effectively
Enhancing Students\u27 Reasoning Skills with GeoGebra-based Digital Worksheets
Introduction: Cultivating robust mathematical reasoning is critical for secondary learners, underpinning skills in argumentation, justification, and problem-solving. Despite its importance, many students encounter persistent difficulties, exacerbated by a scarcity of interactive resources and insufficient intrinsic motivation. These challenges underscore the urgent need for curriculum-aligned digital environments that purposefully embed reasoning practices.Objectives: The objective of this study was to develop and evaluate a GeoGebra-integrated digital worksheet to foster Grade 9 students’ mathematical reasoning.Methods: The research followed the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) with 32 junior high school students in Malang Regency, Indonesia. The worksheet was designed in Canva, converted into a Heyzine Flipbook, and embedded with GeoGebra-based exploratory tasks and assessments. Three mathematics education experts validated the product, and revisions were made accordingly. Data came from pre-tests, post-tests, questionnaires, and teacher interviews. Quantitative results were analyzed with descriptive statistics, while qualitative data were analyzed using Thematics Analysis.Results: The analysis revealed that the worksheet is valid, practical, and pedagogically effective. Participants exhibited statistically significant score increases from pre-test to post-test and self-reported enhanced motivational levels, improved visual comprehension, and higher engagement. Educators attested to the instrument’s pedagogical relevance and curricular congruence. Identified barriers included erratic Internet connectivity and the constrained instructional scope of a single mathematical topic.Conclusion: The GeoGebra-integrated digital worksheet is a valid and effective tool for enhancing mathematical reasoning at the secondary school level. It holds strong potential for broader application and future research across more mathematical topics
Integrative Feature Learning from Mammographic Images Using a Hybridized Diagnostic Model
Traditional Conventional machine learning approaches to breast cancer diagnosis tend to rely on manual feature extraction, which is fraught with variability and time-consuming. These constraints limit the scalability and consistency of diagnostic platforms. As the need for precise and efficient diagnostic technologies escalates, the need for automated frameworks that can effectively interpret mammographic data and facilitate clinical decision-making arises. This paper introduces the Feature-driven Breast Cancer Classification Model (F-BCC-ML), which is intended to optimize diagnostic precision and efficiency in the detection of breast cancer. The goal is to create a hybridized model that can automate feature extraction and classification from mammogram images and eliminate the dependency on manual techniques to improve clinical results. The F-BCC-ML model combines an Adaptive Classifier Engine (ACE) with a strong preprocessing and segmentation pipeline. First, preprocessing of mammogram images is done for noise reduction using the Improved Bilateral Filtering Technique (IBFT), which maintains important anatomical information. Segmentation is achieved through SegNet, a deep learning architecture optimized for semantic segmentation. Feature extraction merges texture descriptors Weber Local Descriptor-harmonized Local Gabor XOR Pattern (GTE) and Grid Feature Encoding (GFE) with color and deep features from region-segmented regions. The features are subsequently classified as normal or cancerous via the ACE architecture in combination with a Deep Vision Network (DVN). Designing a Social Prescribing Model to Enhance the Holistic Well-Being of Older Adults in Indonesia
Introduction: population Population aging is accelerating worldwide, including in Indonesia, where older adults face a high burden of chronic diseases, loneliness, and social isolation. Current healthcare Healthcare services remain heavily medical and curative, leaving a treatment gap in addressing psychosocial needs unmet. Social prescribing, which has shown successful in Western countries, has yet to benot been systematically explored in lower-middle-income contexts such as Indonesia, where strong social capital and cultural values could provide a foundation forsupport its adaptation.Objective: this Tostudy aims to identify the domains and indicators of a contextually adapted social prescribing model for older adults in Makassar City, Indonesia.Methods: a A qualitative design with a phenomenological orientation design was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions with 14 stakeholders, including older adults, caregivers, health workers, social workers, psychologists, religious leaders, community cadres, and policymakers. Thematic analysisData were analyzed thematically using NVivo Pro 12 to generated locally relevant domains and indicators of social prescribing relevant to the local context.Results: eight Eight domains emerged: (1) physical health, (2) mental and emotional well-being, (3) cognitive function, (4) spiritual well-being, (5) social and community support, (6) arts and creativity, (7) environment, and (8) culture. Findings highlight sSpirituality was as a central domain in Makassar, reflecting Indonesia’s socio-cultural and religious context. , while eEnvironmental barriers and stigma portraying the elderly as an economic burden were identified as key challenges.Conclusion: this This study provides the first context-specific evidence for social prescribing in Indonesia. By iIntegrating cultural and spiritual resources, strengthening community-based supports, and addressing stigma and structural barriers may enable feasible, sustainable interventions. social prescribing can serve as a feasible and sustainable approach to enhance the holistic well-being of older adults in Indonesia. Social Media Predicts Bedtime Procrastination In Adolescents
Introduction: Bedtime procrastination has emerged as a significant issue among adolescents, as it reduces sleep quality and affects both physical and psychological health. The increasing use of social media has been identified as one of the major contributing factors. Method: This study applied a descriptive quantitative design. Data were collected from 275 Indonesian adolescents aged 17–22 years (182 females and 93 males). Bedtime procrastination was measured with the Bedtime Procrastination Scale (BPS), while social media use was assessed using the Social Media Addiction Scale (SMAS). Data analysis employed Pearson’s product-moment correlation.Results: The findings indicated a positive and statistically significant relationship between social media use and bedtime procrastination (r = 0.27, p < 0.01). No meaningful gender differences were observed in either social media intensity or procrastination behavior.Conclusion: The study shows that higher social media use is associated with increased bedtime procrastination among adolescents. These results highlight the need for effective regulation of media use to maintain healthy sleep patterns
ELECTHINK (Election Education and Critical Thinking) for Strengthening Civic Engagement among Generation Z
Introduction: This research addressed the declining civic engagement among Generation Z, particularly their limited political literacy and critical thinking skills in electoral processes. Theoretical frameworks of civic education and empirical data showing low youth voter turnout rates highlighted the urgent need for innovative educational interventions to strengthen democratic participation among digital natives. Objective : This research aims to produce learning media for civic education that promotes citizen engagement as a key driver of its development. With this product, the research aims to create an ideal alternative intervention to strengthen political engagement. Method: The study employed a research and development approach, utilizing mixed-methods design to develop and evaluate an educational application. This methodology integrates factual measurements which are then analyzed according to an experimental test approach to create product-based solutions to increase community engagement. Result: The research produced three key outcomes. First, the needs analysis revealed significant gaps in Generation Z\u27s political literacy levels, with particular deficiencies in understanding electoral systems and critical evaluation of political information. Second, the application design incorporated gamification elements, interactive learning modules, and real-time fact-checking features tailored to Generation Z\u27s digital preferences and learning patterns. Third, effectiveness testing demonstrated statistically significant improvements in participants\u27 political knowledge, critical thinking abilities, and civic engagement intentions following application usage. Conclusion: The ELECTHINK application proved effective in enhancing Generation Z\u27s civic engagement through targeted educational interventions. The research contributed to civic education literature by demonstrating how technology-mediated learning can address contemporary challenges in political literacy and democratic participation among young citizens
