Effects of Microbeads and Cadmium on plant development and Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Organisms in Soil

Micro plastics (MPs) have gained attention as new pollutants worldwide, but little is known about how it interacts with metal contamination in soil-plant ecosystems. Here, research looked into how Cadmium (Cd) and Micro plastics, such as polyethylene (PE) and polylactic acid (PLA), affected the growth of plants and the neighborhood of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in agricultural Soil. While 10% PLA reduced the total biomass of maize and the amount of chlorophyll in the leaves, PE showed no discernible phytotoxicity. Between PE and Cadmium, there was an important impact on the volume of roots, but likewise, PLA nor Cadmium had an important effect. PE and PLA showed minimal impact on cadmium accumulation in plant tissues, but they increased soil pH and DTPA-extractable cadmium concentrations. Different treatments showed different counts of pandemic and total OTUs. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus (AMF) taxa showed a highly variable abundance ratio with Micro plastics and Cadmium. According to the type and dose of Micro plastics, AMF diversity in communities and structure was changed. The dominant AMF genus exhibited but significant interactions with Micro plastics which were further influenced by the presence of Cadmium. Overall, MP sort and quantity, Cadmium and the way it interacts, and the high dose of PLA induced increased phytotoxicity, which changed with the growth of plants and the AMF. In conclusion, coexisting Micro plastics and Cadmium could collectively influence plant function and root symbiosis changes, increasing the dangers to agriculture systems and habitat biodiversity

Impact of Graphic Design on Information Retention: A Linear Mixed Models Approach to Visual Elements and Memory

Introduction: The effectiveness of graphic design in enhancing information retention depends largely on how visual elements are structured and perceived. Objective: The study analyzes the impact of graphic design on information retention, using a rigorous statistical and experimental approach. Methodology: Through a linear mixed model, principal component analysis and artificial neural networks, several visual elements such as typography, contrast, visual hierarchy, text density, layout type and content format were evaluated. Results: With a sample of 90 observations, the results showed that sans-serif typefaces, soft contrasts, use of icons, low text density and layouts with white space favor immediate information retention. On the other hand, advertising materials showed better performance compared to academic or infographics, possibly due to their more simplified and attractive design. Likewise, infographics stood out in long-term retention, due to their ability to integrate visual and textual content efficiently. The study also underscored the value of white space as a facilitator of cognitive processing, reducing mental overload. In sum, the findings demonstrated that design is not just aesthetics, but a strategic tool in enhancing learning. Conclusion: It is concluded that a conscious visual design, adapted to the type of content and the cognitive profile of the user, can significantly optimize the way people absorb, process and remember information.

In the competitive realm of Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) games like Dota 2, support roles are often undervalued despite their strategic importance in determining match outcomes. Traditional metrics emphasize kills, gold accumulation, and damage output, which inadequately capture the tactical influence of support players. This study employs a deep learning approach—combining Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks, and XGBoost—to analyze a large-scale dataset from OpenDota comprising over 20,000 competitive matches. By leveraging match telemetry and spatio-temporal data, the proposed model quantifies support player impact using explainable AI (XAI) techniques such as SHAP. The results reveal distinct behavioral patterns and contributions of support roles in vision control, teamfight initiation, and strategic movement, offering a new lens for talent identification and coaching. This work contributes to the development of performance evaluation frameworks that holistically represent the complexity of team-based esports

Background: children undergoing haemodialysis often face psychological fatigue due to strict fluid and dietary restrictions. These limitations can significantly affect their emotional well-being and quality of life, while also placing a heavy burden on parents who must ensure adherence at home. However, limited attention has been given to the lived experiences behind these challenges, particularly from both the child’s and caregiver’s perspectives. Objective: This study explores the psychological experiences of children with chronic kidney disease (CKD) undergoing haemodialysis, alongside parental emotional challenges faced by parents in maintaining fluid adherence at home. Method: a qualitative descriptive design with a phenomenological approach was applied. Twelve parents of children aged 8-18 years receiving regular haemodialysis were selected using purposive sampling for in-depth interviews. Data were thematically analysed using Clarke and Braun’s six-phase framework. Results: three major themes emerged: (1) children’s emotional exhaustion due to fluid restrictions, (2) parental emotional strain in maintaining adherence, and (3) the necessity for sustained psychosocial support and structured education. Conclusion: these findings underscore the importance of a holistic care model that integrates medical, psychological, and educational components. Digital interventions, such as Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) systems equipped with chatbot features, may bridge existing care gaps. Future research should prioritise the development and evaluation of such technology-driven supports to enhance family-centred care in paediatric nephrology
