Get PDFThe project is carried out to assess the ability of the polymer composite machining using a milling machine. This study describes the general methods of polymer composite machining as well as the hardness testing conducted. The fiberglass reinforced polyester composite has been selected to the milling machining process. Fiberglass is the material that is strong and powerful plus lighter by using Barcol Hardness Tester tool. The result of hardness test showed that the lowest reading is 46B with a speed of 500ppm, while the highest is 55B at a speed of 1000ppm. In addition the 1000ppm speed value has a higher hardness

Get PDFThis study considers the factors that influence entrepreneurial intentions among Community College students in Malaysia based on Entrepreneurship Intention Model (EIM). The purpose of Community College is to deliver the knowledge and entrepreneurial skills to the local community. The goal of the Community Colleges is to produce skilled workers with the concept of a knowledge K-Ekonomi and increasing knowledge through the short courses. Besides that, Community College also offers courses related to economic activities in the local area and the Community College graduates were encouraged to become entrepreneurs and build their own business. The total of 1.277 community college student involve in the research. The findings indicated three factors that influence entrepreneurial intentions among respondents that students own personal attitude and subjective norm factor, namely social support from family and friends. While another factor is the factor that controls the behavior of students have great faith in the ability and their ability to control their own business. As a result, the Entrepreneurial Intention Model (EIM) has been confirmed as an appropriate model to be used as a study entrepreneurship

Get PDFLearning styles play an important role in the student achievement. The best results in examination are influence by their learning style. The purpose of this research is to identify either student learning styles affected their academic achievement. The sample was consisted of 100 students in Semester Two for Measurement Course (DEE 1012), Electrical Engineering Department of Politeknik Tuanku Sultanah Bahiyah (TSB). "Grasha- Reichmann Learning Styles Inventory" was used to identify preferred learning styles - independent, dependent, evasive, collaborate, compete and participate. Data were collected and analyzed by Statistic Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The results showed that learning style practiced by most students were dependent learning style with a mean score of 3.385 and the learning styles do not have a relationship with academic achievement. Mean while there are no significant levels in the learning style between male (3.331) and female (3.475) student. Generally, it can conclude that learning styles dependent on the learning style practiced by the 2 Semester students (session 2 December 2014) Politeknik Tuanku Sultanah Bahiyah (PTSB)

Get PDFAgregat berkubik dihasilkan melalui mesin penghancur batu ke batu (Barmac) manakala agregat ketaksekataan dihasilkan langsung daripada kuari. Matlamat kajian ini adalah mengkaji kesan agregat berkubik dan agregat ketaksekataan terhadap sifat konkrit asfalt seperti modulus kebingkasan, rayapan dinamik dan kekuatan tegangan tak langsung. Jenis bahan pengikat yang digunakan ialah styrene butadiene styrene (SBS). Berdasarkan sifat campuran yang diperoleh, semua campuran berbitumen yang menggunakan agregat berkubik memperlihatkan peningkatan sifat yang ketara berbanding campuran agregat ketaksekataan. Dari kajian yang telah dijalankan, agregat berkubik di dalam campuran bitumen terpinda SBS lebih berupaya meningkatkan nilai modulus kebingkasan, rayapan dinamik dan kekuatan tegangan tak langsung dibandingkan dengan campuran agregat ketaksekataan. Sebagai contoh, nilai modulus kebingkasan CK ialah 3896 MPa, manakala nilai setara untuk campuran IK ialah 3502 MPa dengan peratus peningkatan daripada campuran IK kepada campuran CK ialah sebanyak 11.25%

Get PDFMotivation is a important psychological element for encourage individual to achieve their target. The aims of this study is to measure the level of motivation and identify significant differences of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation on the technical skills of Kolej Vokasional Kluang students. A total of 148 students from the Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM) Level 1 (Semester 2) with 7 technical course has been selected as respondents. The research approach quantitative study with the questionnaire instrument. The results show the intrinsic motivation in higher level, while extrinsic motivation moderate level. In addition, the results show that there are no significant difference between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation in the technical skills by gender (intrinsic, r=0.97, extrinsic, r=0.23) and course (intrinsic, r=0.98, extrinsic, r=0.50) where (r> 0.05). In addition the Intrinsic motivation is more dominant than extrinsic motivation because students are more motivated by internal factors than external factors as the driving force in technical skills
Framework for The Establishment of Knowledge Repository in Polytechnic Malaysia
Get PDFOne way of retaining knowledge is through the establishment of a knowledge repository. Other than preservation purpose, the repository enables the deposited knowledge be retrieved for further usage. Polytechnic Malaysia a part of Institution of Higher Learning has been implementing knowledge sharing initiative without any guide or framework. Thus, knowledge sharing is carried impulsively not according to any standard or current best practice. In addition, the factors which influence the initiative were also not known. It is the objective of this paper to propose a conceptual framework for knowledge sharing initiatives which then lead to the establishment of a knowledge repository for the Polytechnic in Malaysia. Qualitative approach is adopted by means of reviewing the literature in the area. The Technology, Organization and Environmental Theory (TOE) used as a base for proposing the conceptual framework. Such a framework could serve as a guideline for planning knowledge sharing initiatives for the Polytechnics in Malaysia
Analysis of Dumbbell Shaped Defected Ground Structure with Low-Pass Filter at X-Band for Radar Application
Get PDFIn this paper, an improved periodic defected ground structure (DGS) with low-pass filter at X-band is analyzed. The dumbbell shaped DGS which are etched at the ground plane is chosen for this analysis. Initially, a filter is designed and simulated using identical DGS, and equally sized. By varying empirically the sizes of the DGS, an improved frequency response was obtained. So as to validate the performances of the proposed changes in the filter, simulation process was implemented between the uniform periodic DGS and the improved non uniform periodic DGS circuit. The result indicates the latter has better performance in the stopband with good transition band and suppressing ripples. The dumbbell shaped DGS with low-pass filter designed at cutoff frequency of 10 GHz, which is suitable for X-band in general and radar applications in particular. The equivalent circuits for the proposed dumbbell shaped DGS with low-pass filter and its matching LC parameters are given. The improved and proposed DGS with low-pass filter provides a size of 18 × 7 mm2 was fabricated. The measurement results show agreeable consistency with the simulated results

Get PDFThis study was conducted to examine the relationship between self-concept and motivation of student’s achievement in Macroeconomics Course. The study involved 153 semester 2 (June 2014 Session) Commerce Department students from Politeknik Tuanku Sultanah Bahiyahin. The questionnaire instrument consist four parts; part A (background), part B (academic self-concept), part C (non-academic self-concept) and part D (achievement motivation). The results showed that the self-concept of academic and non-academic in moderate level with a mean score 2.91 (SD = 0.68) and 3.18 (SD = 0.68) respectively. While students motivation in moderate level with a mean score 2.90 (SD = 0.67). Beside that, the finding show that a positive significant relationship between self concept of non-academic and the students achievement for the course of Macroeconomics with r = 0186

The effective knowledge management can be utilized optimally and be able to increase the performance of lecturers. Research in Institutions of Higher Learning shows that learning about knowledge management leading to the achievement of lecturers should be investigated because of the lack of research rather than to solve the problem of displacement and retirement lecturer. Therefore, this study investigates the relationship between knowledge management and the achievement of teaching. This study used a qualitative approach using interviews with administrators Polytechnic and experts in the field of knowledge management. Get PDFThese studies intend to identify the perception of leadership skills among the Polytechnic academic staff. The objective of this study is to identify the level of Polytechnic leadership skills and instructional leadership in the aspect of the visionary skills, leadership skills, change management skills, research skills and innovation; skills and internationalism. The research was conducted in 33 polytechnics with 625 PPPT in various grade such as DH48, DH52 and DH54. The data collection for this study using 360 ° method and the evaluation Score using a scale score of 4. The results showed an excellent level of leadership talent achieved by 16 people (43.24%) PPPT grade DH54, 67 people (25.09%) PPPT grade DH 52 and 46 people (14.33%) PPPT grade DH48 and the majority PPPT DH54, DH52 and DH48 for category II and III up to the level of effort and good leadership skills. The findings also show that PPPT DH54, DH52 and DH48 for category I, have a good level of performance and moderate in all aspects of leadership skills. In addition, overall PPPT achieve a moderate level of skills in the research and innovation
