    A log-linearization of the p-median fortification problem for healthcare system

    International audienceThis paper focuses on developing an investment strategy to enhance the resilience of healthcare systems. This problem, called p-median fortification problem, has been introduced by Starita and Scaparra (2022). It aggregates two sub-problems which are to minimize the travel cost and to minimize the number of patients not treated by the system. The problem is formulated as a non-linear model to determine an effective distribution of protective resources among facilities in service or supply system to improve the system reliability. In this paper, we present a new linear approximation of the p-median fortification problem based on log-linearization techniques. The proposed approach is tested based on a benchmark inspired form the literature and the obtained results illustrate the effectiveness the new approximation approach

    Carbon, Particulate Matter, and Heavy Metal Human Toxicity Footprint of IoT-based Micro Electric Vehicle (EV) Sharing for Urban Mobility

    International audiencePurpose : The purpose of this study is to calculate and compare carbon footprint, particulate matter footprint, and heavy metal human toxicity footprint with operation data of IoT-based Micro Electric Vehicle (EV) Sharing for Urban Mobility, which was conducted in Chungbuk Innovation City (Jinchen Ducksaneup, Eumsung Mangdongmyun), Ochangeup (Cheongju), Osongeup(Cheongju) as a MOLIT Smart City Challenge Project, with petrol and diesel vehicles.Methods : In the assessment area, ten new Micro Electric Vehicles were used within the ‘TAYOU’ platform, which is an IoT-based micro electric vehicle sharing platform for smart mobility. These vehicles were operated for two months (1,021 times and 1,996 km). Data including vehicle numbers, charging start and end times, operating durations, return times, distances traveled (km), user information (name, driver's license, telephone number), and more were collected. Using this data, the carbon, particulate matter, and heavy metal human toxicity footprint were calculated and compared with those of petrol and diesel vehicles.Results and Discussion : The carbon footprints were 188.74 kg CO2 eqv., 409.67 kg CO2 eqv., 389.55 kg CO2 eqv., in IoT-based Micro Electric Vehicle (EV), and petrol and diesel vehicle, respectively. The particulate matter footprint was 263.36 gPM2.5 eqv., 21.37 gPM2.5 eqv., and 439.47 gPM2.5 eqv., respectively. The heavy metal human toxicity footprint was calculated at 0.029 g1.4 DCB eqv., 8.26 g1.4 DCB eqv., and 7.42 g1.4 DCB eqv., respectively; even though the pilot project was completed in just two months, the results showed a meaningful reduction in carbon, particulate matter, and heavy metals. If the service system can be extended, we can expect a more significant decrease in all environmental footprints. In the transition period from petrol and diesel vehicles to electric vehicles for carbon neutrality in road transportation systems, these results showed that electric vehicles can contribute significantly to reducing carbon, particulate matter, and heavy metals.Result : Carbon, particulate matter, and heavy metals reduction efforts are continuously needed in transportation. This study calculated and compared carbon, particulate matter, and heavy metal human toxicity footprints with electric, petrol, and diesel vehicles. As a result, in the future, this new small electric mobility (“TAYOU” Smart mobility vehicle) sharing service system can support and contribute to reducing carbon, particulate matter, and heavy metals emissions and footprints

    Time Series Clustering for Enhanced Dynamic Allocation in A/B Testing

    International audienceAn A/B-Test is a method for evaluating online experiments on target items and observing which A/B/C/... variations are better through log reports and statistical analysis of the rewards earned by each variation. Recent advancements in A/B-Tests through reinforcement learning encompass dynamic allocation employing multiarmed bandits (MAB). MABs provides A/B-Tests with fast identification of the best variation (A or B) and helps limit the loss of the test i.e. the cost of exploring low-reward variation. When partial information is available before assigning variations, dynamic allocation is extended to the contextual multiarmed bandit problem (CMAB). Current state-of-the-art approaches for empirically estimating the context-dependent reward function for each variation demonstrate strong performance in limiting test loss and personalized tests. However, few studies have addressed this problem in the context of variable-sized time series. This paper presents a new reinforcement learning methodology to handle A/B-Tests with variable-sized time series as context information. We provide two new methods that obtain a minimization of the cumulative regret with a soft computational cost. This paper also provides numerical results on real A/B-Test datasets, in addition to public data, to demonstrate an improvement over traditional methods

    Integrated photon pair source based on a silicon nitride micro-ring resonator for quantum memories

    International audienceWe report the design of an integrated photon pair source based on spontaneous four-wave mixing (SFWM), implemented in an integrated micro-ring resonator in the silicon nitride platform (Si 3 N 4 ). The signal photon is generated with emission at 606 nm and bandwidth of 3.98 MHz, matching the spectral properties of praseodymium ions (Pr), while the idler photon is generated at 1430.5 nm matching the wavelength of a CWDM channel in the E-band. This novel, to the best of our knowledge, device is designed to interact with a quantum memory based on a Y 2 SiO 5 crystal doped with Pr 3+ ions, in which we used cavity-enhanced SFWM along with dispersion engineering to reach the required wavelength and the few megahertz signal photon spectral bandwidth

    Leadership autocratique et résilience organisationnelle : les leçons de la série Successionface aux crises

    International audienceSuccession est une série télévisée dramatique américaine de 4 saisons et 39 épisodes, créée par Jesse Armstrong et diffusée par HBO de 2018 à 2023. Elle met en scène les dynamiques d’une puissante famille, propriétaire d’un empire médiatique international. Parmi différentes thématiques organisationnelles et managériales évoquées par la série, elle présente la survie de la firme face aux crises successives auxquelles elle est confrontée. Elle met ainsi en lumière sa résilience organisationnelle. Qui reste pourtant un concept complexe et abstrait dans la littérature, et parfois difficilement observable et mesurable. La série permet ainsi d’illustrer et d’étudier le développement de la résilience organisationnelle, au travers notamment du rôle d’un style de leadership autocratique face aux crises. Dans cet article, au travers d’une étude qualitative, nous étudierons donc l’impact du leadership en situation de crise sur la résilience organisationnelle, en mobilisant comme référence et donnée empirique la série HBO Succession

    A green approach to UV photonics: unleashing the potential of SrSnO3 thin films for sustainable applications

    The depletion of natural resources today necessitates a reevaluation of technological development, considering both material abundance and energy-efficient processes while maintaining device efficiency. In this context, SrSnO3 emerges as a superior candidate, this material's abundance, non-toxicity, and cost-effectiveness, along with the tunable bandgap, the stability and durability underscore its potential in developing environmentally friendly and sustainable UV technologies. In this research, The synthesis of homogeneous, green, crack-free SrSnO3 thin films using sol-gel was achieved. XRD measurements confirmed the purity of the perovskite phase. The films presented 80% of transparency in the visible range with a UV absorption around 300nm. The efficiency of the material was further explored by layering the doped perovskite on Silcon to create a hybrid device and initial electrical properties will be discussed. This work contributes to the ongoing efforts to develop sustainable and efficient materials for UV optoelectronic devices and underscores the pivotal role of advanced material synthesis techniques in achieving this goal.International audienc

    International audienceThis article studies a bi-objective stochastic optimization problem for multi-period multi-sourcing supply planning. The formulated problem accounts for stochastic lead times, degressive pricing, holding and backlog costs, delivery flexibility costs, as well as both holding and transportation carbon footprint. The first objective is to minimize the expected total cost, while the second objective is to minimize the expected total footprint. These objectives must be achieved while adhering to suppliers’ capacity constraints and meeting customer demand. In this paper, the proposed stochastic integer linear program is detailed, and the ϵ-constraint method used to solve it is described. The first results of experiments are presented and discussed
