Towards a better quality of life at work: How to collectively define digital communication conventions
International audienceThe consumption of digital services has increased and has negative effects on the quality of life at work and even on the health of employees. Some solutions, such as charters, have been considered to address these problems and standardize practices. However, these solutions are often rigid and not aligned with work practices. As a result, they are little or not used at all. Faced to these findings, we are interested in studying existing practices of defining digital communication conventions in an organization. This poster presents an ongoing case study within a French national public agency where most of the agents are nomadic workers. We are intended at involving these workers so that they can collectively negotiate conventions and dynamically handle these conventions to make possible an evolution of their work practices
Modélisation pour l'analyse et la conception dans les écologies d'artefacts réglementées (MADRAE) : Analyse d’un cas à propos de pratiques coopératives en télémédecine
International audienceSignificant results from CSCW and practices-based computing should be more effectively incorporated into software engineering practices. This may be due to the difficulty of integrating nuanced findings into the daily practices and toolboxes of software engineers and IS managers. This paper focuses on two concepts in CSCW, artifact ecologies and data work, that are crucial for supporting software component choice and development in IS architecture. Using a case study in telemedicine, the paper proposes MADRAE, an extension of the UML component diagram, for modeling practice-based artifact ecologies that emphasize the necessary data work. MADRAE help to analyze existing artifact ecologies and generate design and architecture proposals. The paper concludes with a discussion of the benefits and limitations of the approach and outlines future work for MADRAE.Cet article aborde la complexité de concevoir des technologies coopératives en mettant en lumière le fossé entre les directives théoriques et leur mise en oeuvre pratique. En dépit d'une analyse minutieuse des dynamiques de coopération, l'adoption de nouvelles technologies souffre souvent d'obstacles significatifs. Nous soulignons l'importance des modèles conceptuels pour mettre en visibilité les interactions humaines dans le développement technologique, en s'appuyant sur la modélisation sociotechnique. À travers l'examen de méthodes de modélisation en CSCW et la critique des limites de UML pour capturer les aspects sociotechniques, nous proposons MADRAE, une extension des diagrammes de composants. Illustrée par une étude de cas en télémédecine, MADRAE vise à enrichir la conception logicielle en intégrant les notions de travail des données et d’écologies d'artefacts et propose un appui pour analyser et penser les technologies coopératives
Gestión de redes de cooperación para la sostenibilidad: Experiencia de la Red Latinoamericana de Innovación Frugal
International audienceSustainability requires the sharing of knowledge, resources and capacities. Cooperation Networks (CN) are essential to promote strategies and approaches that respond to socio-environmental challenges in various territories, particularly in emerging countries. However, CN management is complex, and literature on this matter is scarce. This article identifies and explores CN management practices for sustainability. We studied the Latin American Network for Frugal Innovation (RELIF), which promotes Frugal Innovation as a design approach to sustainability in Latin America. A qualitative methodology was used based on interviews with the Coordinating Committee and thematic analysis. Several effective practices were detected, such as active collaboration, strategic alignment and efficient resource management. We also identified challenges regarding a sound strategic plan and defining an appropriate legal form. These findings are valuable lessons for similar initiatives and provide opportunities to strengthen CN management practices. Future research is recommended to explore appropriate legal structures and develop CN strategies to disseminate sustainability approaches.La sostenibilidad requiere compartir conocimientos, recursos y capacidades. Las Redes de Cooperación (RC) son esenciales para promover estrategias y enfoques que respondan a los desafíos socioambientales en diversos territorios, particularmente en países emergentes. Sin embargo, la gestión de las RC es compleja y la literatura es escasa en este campo. Este artículo identifica y analiza de manera exploratoria las prácticas de gestión de una RC para la sostenibilidad. Se estudia el caso de la Red Latinoamericana de Innovación Frugal (RELIF), la cual promueve la Innovación Frugal como enfoque de diseño para la sostenibilidad en Latinoamérica. Se utilizó una metodología cualitativa basada en entrevistas al Comité Coordinador y un análisis temático. Se identificaron una serie de prácticas efectivas como la colaboración activa, alineación estratégica y gestión eficiente de recursos. Así como los desafíos relacionados con la falta de un plan estratégico sólido y la necesidad de definir una figura jurídica adecuada. Estos hallazgos sirven como lecciones valiosas para iniciativas similares, y brindan un conjunto de oportunidades para fortalecer las prácticas de gestión de las RC. Se recomiendan futuras investigaciones para explorar estructuras legales apropiadas y desarrollar estrategias de las RC para difundir enfoques de sostenibilidad
Higher-order networks for Business Ecosystems Computational Modeling

But this construct lacks consensus on its empirical scope, its key theoretical features and its theoretical roots. The paper proposes an integrative framework as well as a method and a tool for calculating an ecosystem based on simplicial complexes and the HYPE platform. It concludes that a data-driven and visualization approach is needed to the study of the dynamic, emergent and adaptive dimensions of today’s platform-based ecosystems

Electrical characterization of HV (10 kV) Power 4H-SiC Bipolar Junction Transistor
International audienceSiC-BJTs with their superior characteristics, including low on-state resistance and their elevated breakdown voltage is very suitable for high-voltage and high-temperature applications with a greater efficiency in sectors [1]-[2]. However, temperature can change the conductivity of the semiconductor material thus affecting its performance [3]-[4]. In this paper static and dynamic electrical characterization are carried out on 4H-SiC BJTs at Ampere Lab. The BJT were fabricated on a 4H-SiC wafer with an epilayer layer of 120 µm thick and doping concentration of 8E14 cm-3. A maximum breakdown voltage of 11 kV was obtained in vacuum conditions with a high voltage source
Optical and Terahertz Anticounterfeiting Tags Via Non‐Deterministic Deposition of Fluorescent Opuntia Ficus‐Indica Extract
International audienceAbstract Multi‐level anticounterfeiting tags have been developed using a combination of different materials. Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) mixed with titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ) is used to produce flexible substrates. Fluorescent Opuntia Ficus‐indica (OFI) extract dissolved with polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) is then sprayed over the substrate to create a random, yet unique deposition of droplets. Photographs of the tags are taken under UV illumination at different angles and analyzed through the scale‐invariant feature transform (SIFT) algorithm to extract their unique features. The SIFT analysis reveals hundreds to thousands of matched features when a given tag is compared with itself, whereas this number drops to tens for different tags. To enhance the security of the tags, ITO is sputtered onto one of them in the form of a pattern formed by a patch array exhibiting a specific fingerprint at terahertz (THz) frequencies. The evaluation of ITO reflectance shows that each patch array has a unique and unpredictable response stemming from its distinct electro‐optical characteristics. The non‐deterministic response of sprayed dye droplets and ITO patches enables the realization of two‐level authentication, which is difficult to replicate at a reasonable cost. The simple manufacturing process and inexpensive materials involved make the proposed tags easily integrable into packaging

Workload balancing for the nurse scheduling problem: A real-world case study from a French hospital
International audienceTo improve the efficiency and viability of healthcare organizations, it is crucial to enhance both the quality of patient care and the well-being of healthcare staff, particularly nurses. They play a vital role as a key human resource in healthcare, and their well-being and job satisfaction are significantly influenced by effective scheduling. Improved scheduling practices not only enhance the quality of care provided but also contribute to better job satisfaction and overall well-being of the nursing staff. Despite the importance of this task, nurse scheduling is often conducted manually by head nurses, which is both challenging and time-consuming. This study proposes a mathematical model that addresses the nurse scheduling problem, with a specific application in a French hospital department. The objectives of the model are to accommodate a wide range of constraints flexibly, ensure balanced workloads and shifts, and align with the preferences of the nursing staff. A significant contribution of this research is the theoretical investigation and comparison of various workload balancing criteria tailored to the specific context of the problem. The study analyzes different workload balancing criteria to formulate an efficient scheduling solution. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstrated through large experiments and practice feedback, confirming its potential to enhance both healthcare efficiency and nurses’ well-being
