THE EFFECTS OF MIGRATION ON COMMUNITY COHESION IN RURAL ROMANIA: ANTECEDENTS AND CONSEQUENCES: 10.24250/jpe/2/2025/EG/DR

    No full text
This paper examines the effects of migration on communitycohesion in rural Romania, with particular emphasis on itsantecedents and consequences. Drawing on qualitativethematic analysis, the study integrates insights from ruralsociology, social capital theory, and social disorganizationtheory to situate Romanian migration within broaderEuropean and global debates. Findings highlight howeconomic factors such as unemployment and incomedisparities intersect with social and institutional drivers, including family expectations, cultural norms, and weakgovernance, to shape migration flows. Consequences forrural communities are multi-layered: while remittancesand return migration can support household economiesand even stimulate entrepreneurship, demographic decline, family separation, and challenges for left-behind childrenerode traditional forms of trust, participation, andsolidarity. The paper argues that migration reconfiguressocial cohesion by transforming networks of reciprocity, altering community identities, and reframing the meaningof belonging across transnational spaces. By integratingtheoretical perspectives with empirical evidence fromRomania, the study contributes to understanding how ruralcommunities negotiate resilience and vulnerability in theface of sustained out-migration. Implications for ruralpolicy stress the need for long-term strategies that gobeyond mitigating economic loss to strengthening social cohesion, educational opportunities, and inclusivecommunity development

Climate change is a worldwide crisis that has been linked toa range of negative health outcomes, both physical andpsychological and younger generations are increasinglyfeeling the weight of it. Researchers have made a giantstride in providing adaptable strategies to this menace. However, there is a dearth of factual and representativesurvey research that focuses on the experiences of youthsin Osun State concerning this threat. Therefore, this studyexamined how youths are coping with the psychologicaltoll of climate change in Osun State Nigeria. The studyused a descriptive survey to collect data from 157 youthswho were randomly selected from the three senatorialdistricts in the State. Descriptive statistics of frequencycounts with percentages were used to analyse the data. Theresults showed that most youths are experiencing a highlevel of worry about their health, education, and future.Themajority have experienced mental health problemsincluding post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety anddepression, phobias and panic attacks, sleep disorders, cognitive deficits, increased risks of suicide andintellectual disabilities. However, youth are taking actiontomitigate the impact of climate change. They have embarkedon proper waste disposal, self-education to feelempowered, reducing energy consumption and engaging inclimate change activism. Therefore, adults should actively engage in this fight as their involvement will provide aform of reassurance, and model pro-social and ecofriendlybehaviours for the youths

MAINSTREAMING GENDER IN TEACHER CANDIDATES’ USE OF STRATEGIES TO REDUCE DISSONANCE IN SUPERVISORS’ FEEDBACK: 10.24250/jpe/si/2025/OSO/

    No full text
Teacher candidates often experience cognitive dissonancedue to conflicting feedback from university-assignedsupervisors during teaching practice. Previous studieshave examined strategies for reducing such dissonance andthe factors influencing their use, often assuming theunidimensionality of these strategies rather thanconsidering how specific factors affect each one. This studyidentifies four distinct dissonance reduction strategies:minimal intervention, recourse to supervisor, significantothers, and self-directed learning. Given the influence ofgender on decision-making, including teaching-relateddecisions, this study explores its impact on the use of thesestrategies among pre-service teachers. Using a descriptiveresearch design, data were collected from 442 pre-serviceteachers at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, through the Dissonance in Supervisors’ FeedbackReduction Strategies Use Questionnaire (DSFR-Q). Thefindings indicate that gender is not a statisticallysignificant factor in the choice of dissonance reductionstrategies. However, it is suggested that female pre-serviceteachers may be more inclined to use minimal intervention, significant others, and self-directed learning, whereas theirmale counterparts may prefer seeking recourse tosupervisors. These findings are discussed in relation to theethnographic realities of teacher education in Nigeria

Luminescent liquid crystalline metal complexes are attractive multifunctional materials due to their greatpotential of applicability in a wide range of domains from technological to medical fields. This review is focused on theluminescent homo– and hetero–polymetallic metallomesogens containing d-block metal ions and different mono andpolydentate ligands published in the last ten years highlighting their ability to self-assembly in ordered lamellar orcolumnar phases according to their molecular structure. The luminescent properties in solution, solid and liquidcrystalline states are also discusse

Best Approximation in Lp-norm and Generalized (Alpha; Beta)-growth of Analytic Functions

    No full text
Let p be a positive number or infinity, and consider a set denoted as Omega_R, which consists of all complex n-dimensional points where the exponential of a function V_E at that point is less than R, for some value of R greater than 1. The function V_E is defined as the supremum of the expression involving the logarithm of the absolute value of certain polynomials P_d, where these polynomials have a degree at most d and are bounded by 1 on the compact set E. This function V_E is known as the Siciak extremal function associated with a compact set E that satisfies a certain regularity condition. The purpose of this paper is to describe the generalized growth of analytic functions of several complex variables within the given open set. This is done by examining the best polynomial approximation in the L_p norm on the compact set E, with respect to a related set Omega_r, which consists of all points where the exponential of V_E is at most r, for values of r between 1 and R

    Logical Tree of Mathematical Modeling

During setting up a mathematical model, it can be very important and dicult task to choose input parametersthat should be known for solution of this problem. A similar problem might come up when someone wants to carryout an engineering calculation task. A very essential aim technical education is developing of good logical engineeringthinking. One main part of this thinking is to determine the potential sets of required input parameters of anengineering calculation. This paper proposes a logical tree based method to determine the required parameters of amathematical model. The method gives a lively description about needed data base, and computational sequence forus to get to determine the set of required output parameter. The shown method is named LogTreeMM - Logical Treeof Mathematical Modeling

    On Comultisets and Factor Multigroups

In this paper, we vividly study the concept of comultisets of a multigroup and obtain some related results. Thenotion of Lagrange theorem in multigroup setting is proposed. Also, this paper proposes the notion of factor multigroupsas an extension of factor groups in classical group setting and deduces some results. Subsequently, somehomomorphic properties of factor multigroups are presented

Maximal Centroidal Vortices in Triangulations. A Descriptive Proximity Framework in Analyzing Object Shapes

This paper introduces a framework for approximating visual scene object shapes captured in sequences of videoframes. To do this, we consider the hyper-connectedness of image object shapes by extending the Smirnov proximitymeasure to more than two sets. In this context, a shape is a finite, bounded planar region with a nonempty interior. Theframework for this work is encapsulated in descriptive frame recurrence diagrams, introduced here. These diagramsoffer a new approach in tracking the appearance and eventual disappearance of shapes in studying the persistenceof object shapes in visual scenes. This framework is ideally suited for a machine intelligence approach to trackingthe lifespans of visual scene structures captured in sequences of images in videos. A practical application of thisframework is given in terms of the analysis of vehicular traffic patterns
