HOW ARE THE MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES FOSTERED IN SOME ROMANIAN TEXTBOOKS FOR 6thGRADE
No full textThis article represents a synthesis of a study from our PhD thesis that aims to investigate to what extent the Romanian textbooks value and develop students` s multiple intelligences as defined by Howard Gardner. We used as methodology the content analysis and nonparametrical statistics in order to analyze the data collected. We confirmed our hypothesis that in the Romanian 6th grade textbooks of Romanian, History and Physics there is still a strong preference for traditional or academic intelligences (namely logico-mathematical and linguistic intelligences) but we did not expect to find such a huge discrepancy, since all the other six intelligences proved to be covered only 20% in various activities
THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE CRIMINAL OFFENCE AND SELF SERVING COGNITIVE DISTORTIONS
No full textLiterature in the field of aggressive and violent behavior indicated a strong linkbetween anti-social behavior and self-serving cognitive distortions. The concept ofself-serving is represented by a series of distorted cognitive processes, which can takeshape due to the generally oversized tendency of self-perception. The purpose of thisstudy was to investigate the possible positive relationships between different levels ofoffences/ crimes and self-serving cognitive distortions in a sample of juveniledelinquents and young individuals from Romania. The assessment of the self-servingcognitive distortions was measured with the How I Think Questionnaire and the typeof the criminal offence was taken from the Institutional evaluation sheet. Data wasgathered from 55 juvenile delinquents, ages between 15 and 19, the average agebeing 17.13 (SD = .92). Positive correlations were found between the different levelsof offences/ crimes and self-serving cognitive distortions, except for Self-Centered,Minimizing/Mislabeling, Physical Aggression and Stealing. These results suggest thatas the level of offence gets higher so does the level of self-serving cognitive distortionsand anti-social tendencies

No full textThis paper presents a small part from the research conducted within an Erasmus+project, in six European countries, on reducing early leaving in vocationaleducation and training. Today, at the European level, school dropout or earlyleaving from education and training is a serious issue and preventing and reducingthis phenomenon is a priority. An important role in combatting this phenomenonbelongs to the teachers, which need to increase their awareness of the underlyingcauses and to strengthen their capacity to take action to prevent school dropout andsupport students who are at risk. Through our research, we aim to discover the realcurrent needs of the teachers for further developing an innovative and competitivetraining programme, which provide them new and modern supportive strategies andtools. INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY FOR INCLUSIVE EDUCATION – THE EVALUATION OF A TEACHER TRAINING
No full textFor a successful inclusive education, the teachers have required and participated in additional training. However, the information and communication technology (ICT) for inclusive education is seldom covered, and a model of effective training is not available. The current study aimed to evaluate a teachers’ training on ICT for inclusive education. The training unfolded in class and online with group and individualized activities. The evaluation aimed to improve the training’s planning, content, and format. A pre-training questionnaire, the participant’s portfolio, a post-training questionnaire, and trainers - trainees discussions provided data for evaluation. The theoretical framework followed the Kirkpatrick’s model of evaluation. The results showed that the training met the participants’ expectations and it was positively appreciated. Also, the participants express confidence that the acquired ICT skills will help them achieve inclusive education in class. Overall, the methods and the training format can be replicated

No full textModern changes in school, especially student-oriented instruction, require teachers to play a new role in the teaching process. In order to respond to new teaching challenges, a teacher needs to have various competencies. The aim of the conducted research was to determine teacher's attitudes and opinions about the importance of their new roles and competences for the successful realization of teaching process. The survey was conducted on a sample of 566 teachers both class teachers and subject teachers in Serbia. The Likert's sum scale was applied in the survey. The data were processed using descriptive statistical procedures. The results of the survey show that new roles for which appropriate competencies should be acquired are as follows: planner-programmer, organizational-managerial, motivational, pedagogical-instructive and advisory, evaluation and research. The obtained results can represent a rewarding basis for the creators of educational policies in modeling a quality school and effective teaching that would lead each student to success according to his individual abilities

No full textThis article aims to investigate primary school children`s attitude toward reading using The Elementary Reading Attitude Survey (McKenna & Kear, 1990). A number of 106 Romanian students from 4th grade participated in this study. The results showed a rather positive attitude towards reading, both in recreational and academic reading. The data did not indicate differences in attitude toward reading between boys and girls. 12.26% of the students showed high negative attitudes on both subscales. Only a few students with atypical profiles (very high scores in one type of reading, and very low scores in the other) were identified

No full textIn the context of a society where we are invaded with all kinds of advertisements and the century of rapidity in which everything is on the run, attention is very easily disturbed and everything must happen as quickly and efficiently. The study for the formation of the vocal culture besides the fact that it requires a lot of time is also very demanding. Conscious listening comes to the aid of the student, in order to conserve their energy and to make the most of every moment. When he is in a place and time when he cannot study, with the help of headphones or any audio device he can listen. By learning to listen to a musical creation, students learn how to decipher it, just like deciphering a reading. The purpose is to read, read with the musical hearing and to understand the musical pieces, so that they can interpret them correctly musically but also semantically. The present paper is a preamble to the research that aims to bring to our attention a new methodology that will guide teachers to a new methodology through which the voice can be cultivated through conscious listening
The Contribution of Listed Banks to Economic Development in Nigeria
No full textDeposit Money Banks (DMBs) exert a vital rolein funding economic projects in developingcountries. Generally, DMBs assume anintermediary role between surplus and the deficitunits. In the light of this, this research paperappraised DMBs as panacea to economicdevelopment in Nigeria using data drawn from thefinancial statements of eight banks from 2008 to2015. The study took Gross Domestic Product asthe dependent variable and used EmployeeWages, Tax paid to government, Interest paid toCreditors, Dividends paid to shareholders andRetained Earnings as independent variablescoupled with the use of correlation analysis andpanel data regression technique. The paperrevealed that the independent variables exert apositive effect on development of the economy,however, both wages paid to banks’ employeesand retain earnings exert significant positiveeffects on economic development. Hence, thepaper recommends that DMBs should at leastmaintain the current wage rate and corporateretention policy in order to continue to contributeto economic development in Nigeria
