No full textThe purpose of this meta-analysis is to evaluate theeffectiveness of interventions aimed at improving the selfefficacyof cancer patients. Peer-reviewed articles included inthe analysis were published between 2000 and 2018, and wereselected from online databases. The keywords used for thesearch were self-efficacy, cancer, neoplasm, tumour,malignant, treatment, intervention, therapy. We selected thestudies that meet the following conditions: (a) they had anexperimental design; (b) the participants were patientsdiagnosed with cancer; (c) they aimed the testing ofinterventions focused on increasing patients’ adaptation todisease; (d) they have been published in English and subjectedto a peer-review process. Interventions to improve the selfefficacyof cancer patients have a statistically significanteffect (g = .43, Z = 3.304, p = .001). The result shows theeffectiveness of the interventions, but the heterogeneity of thedata calls for caution in their consideration

STRATEGIC OUTNESS AND SOCIAL MEDIA NETWORK FAMILIARITY IN REGARDS OF CYBERBULLYING

Nowadays,youth online behaviour tends to be more critical andselective with social media profiles and online identities.Coming out of the closet, or shortly coming out,rep resents a metaphor for LGBT people's self disclosureof their sexual orientation or of their gender identity.Labelled as a privacy issue, coming out of the closet ismostly described as a psychological process or journey, adecision making or risk taking action, a speech act, anemancipation from oppression, feeling of gay prideinstead of shame and social stigma. It has been debatedwhether the selective disclosure or strategic outness on social media is a good strategy to overcome possibleprospective cy berbullying attacks. The project Keepingyouth safe from Cyberbullying was developed by ourresearch team, aiming to deeper understand the dynamicsof different cyberbullying aspects in online environmentsamong youth, by creating an online questionnairec omposed by single item research questions related tocore concepts and perceptions. This paper is focused is inanalysing the effect of social media network familiarityon LGBT online self disclosure or strategic outness inregards of cyberbullying inciden ts, in 507 high schoolstudents from Romania, Belgium, Turkey and Spain.Results show that when modelling effects of social medianetwork familiarity on strategic outness, the curvilinearmodel (7%) is more consistent that the linear model(6%), when both models show statistical significance.Psychological conclusions and implications arediscussed

CHARACTERIZATION OF ALKALINE AND ENZIMATICALLY TREATED HEMP FIBRES BY FT-IR ATR SPECTROSCOPY
Get PDFThe FT-IR ATR spectra of the alkaline and enzymatically treated hemp fibres (1%, 2%, 3% o.w.f. enzyme,15, 35, 55 minute enzyme action time) were recorded aiming to evaluate the pectin elimination. The relative absorbancevalues of the 1732 cm-1 band which might be attributed to the presence of the carboxylic groups (C=O) in pectin wereevaluated. The results showed a diminishing of the pectin amount with increasing concentration (% o.w.f.) and actiontime (minutes) of the enzyme mixture. So that, the absorbance recorded at 1732 cm-1 with FT-IR ATR spectroscopy canquantify removed pectin from the material, thus enabling characterization of proposed biotechnology and monitoring theprocess
