No full textAbstract: Mentorship has been long recognized in Europe, America and other developed countries as a very useful technique for improving on and in enriching the experiences, skills, knowledge and expertise of employees in organizations, including academic institutions. However, it is only recently that its usefulness is being realized in tertiary educational institutions in Nigeria. Mentorship and students’ academic excellence has been subjects of discourse among social scientists from a wide range of disciplines in the last two decades. But unfortunately, very insufficient number of studies in this area has been conducted in Nigeria. This study was undertaken to fill this obvious research gap. A descriptive method was adopted and data was collected via a survey of 300 respondents using accidental sampling technique. Data collected were tested and analyzed using descriptive, frequency distribution, correlation and linear regression analysis. The result of the study showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between mentorship and academic excellence. The result also revealed that mentorship does have a significant impact on academic excellence in University of Benin. Thus, the study recommends among others that Nigerian universities should give due attention to mentorship since mentoring has been recognized as a strategic technique for building and sustaining scholars in research universities that provide advanced education for the academic profession, policy makers and public and private sector professionals involved in the complex globalized economies of the 21st century

Outdoor education is oneof the modern strategies that was introduced in the daily routines of pupils,leading to behavioral changes and competency acquirements. In theRomanian educational systems, outdoor education can be found in theofficial educational documents and some teachers have introduced it intheir daily routines. Still there are some questions about the theoretical andthe practical place that it takes in the learning process. This research, is abrief analysis on the elements that can be found in the scholar curriculum,and belong to the outdoor educational field, at the core procurement level.The results are important because of the impact that is has on theeducational practices at the level of the classroom. Teachers interested inthis area can observe that the curriculum that is used in the Romanianschools supports outdoor education as a practice at all levels, especially atthe core procurement level

No full text In this descriptive survey study, an investigation was made to determine the level of work motivation among secondary school science, social sciences, and humanities teachers and ascertained whether proprietor incentives and supervision are predictors of work motivation among the teachers in Ilorin, Nigeria. Six hundred (600) secondary school teachers were purposively selected from 63 senior secondary schools within Ilorin metropolis. Three valid and reliable research instruments were designed by the researchers to collect data, namely; Proprietor Incentive Questionnaire (PIQ), School Supervision Questionnaire (SSQ), and Teacher Motivation Scale (TMS). The reliability coefficients of the instruments were 0.94, 0.87, and 0.87, respectively. Multiple Regression Analysis, statistical technique was employed to analyze the data gathered using SPSS version 16. Findings revealed that the teachers were moderately motivated and significant difference in favour of public school teachers existed in the levels of teacher work motivation. Social science and science teachers were the most and the least motivated respectively. Also, significant relationships existed among predictors and criterion variables, while Job Security was identified as the most influential variable in predicting teacher work motivation. It was concluded that the teachers were not fully motivated. The researchers advocated that; school proprietors, should avoid mass retrenchment of teachers to enhance job security, and implement the full complement of the Teacher Special Salary Scale; and supervisors should adopt a teacher-friendly mentor-supervisor approach.

Analysis of Agricultural Wages, Trade Income and Income Inequality in Rural Nigeria
Get PDFApart from determining the sources of incomeinequality, this study analyzes the extentagricultural wages and trade income contributesto income inequality in rural Nigeria. Findingsshow high income inequality with a Ginicoefficient of 0.51. Also the sources of incomeinequality were mostly trade and agriculturalincomes, with a share of income of 42.7% and30.9% respectively in total inequality. The shareof income from wages and salaries in totalincome was found to be 26.4%. Trade incomewas found to be inequality-dampening, whileagriculture income is inequality-enhancing,suggesting that trade income and agriculturalwages are major contributors of incomeinequality in rural Nigeria
OCCUPATIONAL BURNOUT, MENTAL HEALTH AND LIFE QUALITY OF NURSING STAFF IN HEALTH STRUCTURES IN GREECE: THE CASE OF IPPOKRATEIO GENERAL HOSPITAL OF THESSALONIKI
Get PDFAbstract: Occupational burnout syndrome is particularly common in nurses and is closely related to the quality of healthcare provided. Studying this phenomenon is particularly important, because the knowledge acquired will contribute to its deeper understanding and thus to its timely recognition and response. The purpose of the present study is to examine the occupational burnout of nurses through a qualitative methodology and semi-structured interviews with the nursing staff of Ippokrateio General Hospital of Thessaloniki. Through the analysis of the interviews the following issues were detected in every answer: fatigue (sub-topics: “physical fatigueâ€, “mental fatigue†and “pathological conditionâ€), working conditions causing dissatisfaction (sub-topics: “salaryâ€, “Excessive workloadâ€, “tasks not related to their work fieldâ€, “poor organizationâ€, “poor communicationâ€) and a condition that cannot be changed (sub-topics: “absence of collective action for the prevention of the problems†and “problem management on an individual levelâ€).

Defining a digital psychological assessment methodology focused on how to gain more data out of individuals’ responses has always been of interest and attracting researchers in the field of emerging digital psychology who are actually willing to invest in developing such a user friendly technology is becoming nowadays more art than science. The digitization of respondents’ ratings in psychological assessments has reached a turning point in data analytics, mainly due to the limitations of statistical modeling. Statistics is simply not enough to rationally convey all the information respondent’s data reflect. Ensuring access to education through inclusion and equity
Get PDFThis article examines the opportunity for access to education in terms of orientation and continuous change of the whole educational process. Every child has the right to education. The right to education is a concept that is based on the right to have access to education, the right to quality education and the right to respect within the learning environment. Starting from this premise, the interest in the study of inclusion and equity in education is a challenge to identify barriers to inclusion and equity in education and society. Since joining the European Union, the programs aimed at increasing access to education for disadvantaged groups have also started to be implemented in Romania. According to Romanian legislation, access to education is provided without any social and material discrimination, without differences based on nationality, religion, ethnicity, sex or political choice
Why social media context awareness represents a future crucial concept in digital wellbeing
Get PDFIn order to exchange knowledge and make links, billions of people around the world use social media. Social networking helps users to engage with friends and family on a personal basis, learn new knowledge, grow new passions, and be amused. One may use social media at a personal level to extend experience in a specific area and develop their professional network by interacting with other professionals. One's digital presence will make or break anyone in today's information age; it can be the determining factor as to whether or not one meets one's life-long aspirations. Unethical activity and social media posts may have far-reaching effects, both professionally and personally. Posting on the Internet means the "never forgetting," so it is important to use this medium responsibly. The social media context awareness competence refers to a new emerging skill regarding the trust load we give to a specific digital context we come in contact with when surfing the internet. Since it is an emerging competence, it cannot be understood as standalone. If the digital context would not be available, we would not develop such a competence. Being a competence, it must be defined by three core elements: knowledge, skills, and attitudes, just as we operationalized the competence of social media context awareness in terms of: Social media literacy, social media communication process understanding, social media content impact awareness, and social media confidence. The key finding of this analysis is that awareness of the context of social media is an evolving digital skill that can be empirically evaluated and then taught to individuals for a sustainable understanding of the socio-digital world who have not acquired this critical skill.
