    A LITERATURE REVIEW ON LEFT-BEHIND CHILDREN: 10.24250/jpe/1/2021/AC

    No full text
Globally, the number of people migrating in search of a better job has increased considerably: over one billion people live outside their country, migration becoming a social phenomenon with a very strong impact on children left in care to a grandfather, relative or even an institution. There is no total consensus on the impact that separation from a working parent away from home has on children, due to the complexity of the variables that act, namely the child's personality, resilience, social context, coping strategies used, cultural role of the migrating parent, the age at which the child remains alone, as depicted in the scientifical literature. The present study represents a literature review aiming to highlight the main conclusions driven from recent research on the issue of the left-behind children. We have consulted 40 papers recently published in Elsevier, Medline, Springer, Wiley, and Web of Science databases. The psychological and emotional impact of the left-behind children (CLB) as well as the impact on school performance caused by parental migration were the main topics analyzed

People who suffer from psychiatric disabilities due to various causes face a variety of barriers to an acceptable quality of life. Studies confirm that all the problems they face are also due to the lack of personal empowerment in their lives. The concepts of self-empowerment and self-control are not yet widespread in the public mental health system, although from a legal, constitutional point of view, civil rights include full freedom and autonomy over one’s own treatment.Aim of research: This article aims to focus on the need to implement the theory of self-empowerment among specialists working with people suffering from mental disorders. This would help them acquire skills that could lead them to breaking down major barriers in personal empowerment, with potential relevance to beneficiaries. This way, the self- empowerment and self-control of beneficiaries could be implemented both within and outside of mental health systems.Methodology of research: consists of building a questionnaire with open-ended questions. It assesses the domains of competences that must be acquired by accompanying specialists in self-empowerment. The questionnaire is based on the data obtained from a scientific review of the needs of the beneficiaries, resulting from the application of the Self-determination Theory in the specialized studies carried out over the past 10 years. Results of research: are to establish the areas of competence necessary for the accompanying specialists in self-empowerment. These evaluated areas will form the basis for the construction of course modules for the training of specialists in personal empowerment. Conclusions: The skills acquired by specialists from the self-empowerment course will help them accompany people with mental health (MH) problems. Specialists will teach beneficiaries how to become independent and acquire the capacity of self-management of their own lives, by increasing intrinsic motivation

Abstract. The article deals with the issue of higher education students’ readiness for distance learning. It has been noted that due to the rapid transition to distance learning in a pandemic, the search for answers to questions related to the quality of distance learning, the teachers’ and students’ readiness for this form of learning, the lack of unified methodological approaches to the transition from offline to online learning have been actualized. Scientific approaches to the description of the concept of readiness for the activity have been analyzed. Based on the analysis of domestic and foreign scientific sources, the structure of readiness for distance learning has been identified. The student's readiness for distance learning is considered as the ability to carry out educational activities distantly, which includes such structural components as communicative readiness to interact during online education and motivational readiness for distance learning. The impact of students' communicative behavior on the success of educational activities during distance learning has been reviewed. It has been noted that the sphere of direct interpersonal communication relations in distance learning is reduced to a minimum, or non-existent. This affects the formation of personality and the intended purpose of educational space, contact with the teacher in real, not online space is important for the formation of motivation, beliefs and attitudes. The study indicates a lack of motivation and self-control of students during distance learning. The survey of first- and second-year students has found that more than half of students have problems with self-control and the ability to work independently in distance learning. It has been noted that distance education is less effective than traditional classroom education, as fewer students complete the courses, since this type of education provides sufficient motivation, self-control and the ability to work independently with information and training materials
