Geselligkeit ed emancipazione femminile. Carl Wilhelm Frölich, Henriette Frölich e un esempio di Briefroman utopico: Virginia oder die Kolonie von Kentucky
This contribution presents some pivotal aspects of the late-Enlightenmentdebate on women’s education and their intellectual formation. Itfocuses, in particular, on the intellectual laboratory of Jena’s Early Romanticism pointing out the direct and indirect collaboration betweenmen and women, as highlighted through the dialogical structure oftheir works, the technique of the open letter which Friedrich Schlegeladdresses to his wife, as well as other forms of participation in thejoint project of the literary journal Athenaeum. A quick flash-back concentrates on a model of successful cultural interaction as exemplified by the couple formed by Carl Wilhelm and Henriette Frölich. The ideological cornerstones of Carl Wilhelm’s treaty Über den Menschen und seine Verhältnisse (1792), which insists on human rights and is informed by utopian socialism, thus promoting the emancipation of the weakest, such as women, provide the ground for a fascinating epistolary novel that was published by Henriette Frölich with the date 1820 and title Virginia oder die Kolonie von Kentucky. In this novel, the woman has a central role and, above all, becomes the economic and cultural promoter of a model of society that integrates anyone who wishes to be part of it
Ultime lettere dell’amico Nathanael
Through a close reading the essay deals with some central aspects of the function of the incipit as an epistolary novel of the story Der Sandmann (1816) by E.T. A. Hoffmann. In particular, in the three paragraphs of the essay, the narratological, communicative and metaliterary aspects are analysed. In the first paragraph the originality of the story was highlighted with respect to the tradition of the epistolary novel: the three letters act as an authenticating element. In the second one analyses the pathological communication relations between the actors of the epistolary discourse. The third paragraph focuses on the aesthetic aporias of the protagonist Nathanael, a writer of letters and an aspiring writer
Le distorsioni del volto. I ritratti nei diari di Franz Kafka
Peter von Matt opens and closes his Literaturgeschichte des menschlichen Gesichts (1983) with portraits taken from Franz Kafka’s diary which bear witness to a radical crisis of perception. These portraits, mainly found in the annotations of the years 1910-1912, represent one of the main impulses of Kafka’s writing in which a facial detail can become the symbol for an age. This paper aims at analyzing the perceptive distortions which characterize Kafka’s annotations, focusing in particular on the concept of Entstellung, which has a central role in Walter Benjamin’s poetics
«Sehr geehrter Herr Sektionschef!» Oder: Wie aus einem Appell (fast) eine Obligation wird. Der Brief in Franz Werfels Novelle Eine blaßblaue Frauenschrift
Research has shown how textlinguistics and the analysis of dialogue can contribute to a deeper understanding of a literary text. The present article uses tools from these frameworks to analyse the novel “Eine blaßblaue Frauenschrift” by Franz Werfel. By shifting the focus to the letter as one of the main aspects of the novel and to the scene of the face-to-face conversation of the protagonist with the sender of the letter, the analysis reveals on the one hand the different characteristics of written and oral communication (the contrast between the two forms of communication) used by the author, and shows on the other hand the problematic personality of the protagonist with his antisemitic sterotypes and prejudices as representative of the socio-political situation in 1936 in Austria

Mariana, in the state of Minas Gerais, was the scene of the most serioussocial-environmental disaster/crime in the Brazilian history. But what ledto an event of such proportions and what happens next on the ground? Asummary survey of the geographical materialism of the region will takeus to observe the dramatic vulnerability caused by mining extraction andits accumulation cycles. Then, the focus on post-disaster governance willshow us the limits imposed by political and institutional practices thatclaim to “mediate” and “resolve” conflicts in a field of asymmetric relationships. Finally, after a brief analysis of the weakening of the regulatoryenvironmental control instruments and the adoption of a colonial narrativeof development and economic mining dependency, we will look at the workof reconstruction of the mining common sense in the name of Capitalocene
Luigi Credaro e la pedagogia scientifica: i temi della propulsione romana del 1903
The essay reproposes and analyzes the text of the speech pronounced by Luigi Credaro at the University of Rome on 15 January 1903, when he occupied the chair of Pedagogy in the Faculty of Letters. The starting point of the prolusion, entitled L’insegnamento universitario della pedagogia (The university teaching of pedagogy), is the need to rethink the functionand the role of higher education, and especially of educationalknowledges, in relation to how teachers are formed. It is an attempt to synthesize Credaro’s views, derived from the pedagogy of Herbart. Credaro represents in fact the main representative in Italy of Herbart’s thought. Here pedagogy as an academic discipline is divided into four parts: pedagogical history, school legislation, theoretical pedagogy and practical pedagogy, all inspired by that inductive, ‘experimental’ perspective, which for some time was accompanying the renewal of the social sciences.
