The training of support teachers in Italy has experienced, and is still experiencing, many reform processes. For teachers of all types of school, the current phase envisages that the possession of a teaching qualification is a formal requirement to attend a specialization course in order to become a support teacher. This condition imposes, in particular for teachers in secondary schools, both of the first and the second level, a transition from a pathway mainly based on academic knowledge (a degree, master’s degree and teaching qualification) to a pathway centered on psycho-pedagogical and didactic knowledge. This transition is not a linear and sequential trajectory, but rather a complex and articulated space-time, in which it is necessary to reorganize one’s own knowledge, rethink one’s own professionalism and, in some cases, re-imagine oneself. Starting from these conceptual categories, the present contribution illustrates the training-research device designed and used to investigate and support the identity transactions of teachers who took part in the first cycle of the training course for the achievement of the specialization for didactic support at the University of Siena (Italy).

In the present contribution the notion of transaction is investigated against the backdrop of the contemporary debate about realism and constructivism (and postmodernism). In particular, the hypothesis is advanced that this idea may help us to evade the risk of one-sidedness that lurks within both stances. After outlining the bone of contention between the realist and the constructivist understandings of (the theory of) education, a specific, influential interpretation of Dewey’s philosophy in terms of constructivism is discussed in order to show that a transactional attitude is more promising for the elicitation of the full potential of Dewey’s theoretical device.

Under art.12 UNCRPD States have an obligationto replace systems based on substituted decision-making by asystem ensuring free choice through support in decision-making,implying the duty to take measures to provide any personwith disabilities the support needed in the expression of theirchoices, not to decide for them «in their best interest»

It is the story of the birth of a headless child occurred in Kirkham, Lancashire: the civil war rages in the country and the victory of the Puritan Parliament is around the corner, when Mrs. Haughton publicly claims her role as a realist and Catholic dissident and for this is punished with the birth of a headless son. In this case, the monstrous birth is not intended to be a punishment for a morally reprehensible action, but for a heterodox ideology

    Pedagogia dell’invecchiamento ed autobiografia musicale

The thread that holds this paper is the inclusion, meant as a vector of a virtuous circle between democracy and pedagogy. In this specific case, it concerns the inclusion of the older persons, a category strongly proved by the neoliberalist and globalist dynamics of the last years. The author, who assumes a predominantly humanistic point of view, claims the central roleof memory and of the narratives producing those existential representations, experienced by man throughout one’s life. However, this paper presents a multidisciplinary approach that tries to broaden its perspective to a plurality of knowledge, including pedagogy of aging, neuroscience and music. In brief, musical autobiography (Strollo, 2014), as a pedagogical device, represents a synthesis and an opportunity that the author will try to highlight.

Over the last decades the traditional approach to researchbased on the absolute centrality of the professional researcherhas been challenged by the spread of participatory approaches. The most radical approaches to participatory research havebeen perceived as processes through which marginalizedgroups get self-awareness and can actively influence society. Here we can find a common ground between participatoryresearch and the emancipatory approaches rooted in theFreirian emphasis on “conscientisation“ and “emancipation”.Moreover, interesting applications of participatory and emancipatorymethods draw on connections with the philosophicalfoundations of Amartya Sen’s Capability Approach. Startingfrom this theoretical background this paper will show howemancipatory approaches can be used to simultaneouslycollect information on disability and induce an emancipatoryprocess that can involve persons with disabilities. Thepresented case study will focus on an emancipatory researchabout the interaction between gender and disability baseddiscriminations in Palestine

The revival of the Schauerroman in the 1910s is marked by a mixture ofelements resulting, on one hand, from the 19th century romantic, irrationaland occultist-esoteric traditions and, on the other one, from positivisticculture and concepts, i.e. the scientific and technological innovationsand the psychical and psychological analytical investigations atthe beginning of the century. In the works of authors like Hanns HeinzEwers, (1871-1943), Karl Hans Strobl (1877-1946), or the group whoedited Der Orchideengarten (1918-1921), fantastic impulses gatheredand prompted ‘deceptive’ visions of reality. The goal of such writerswas to grasp the sensation of other realms of reality where to get intouch beyond the common perception of the world, through an enhancementof artificial, chemical, alchemical or technological nature, and whereby the Modern and the Premodern conflated into each other. This contribution aims at analyzing Strobl’s 1900s and 1910s worksas well as some short stories by other authors of the same period
